Great place nestled in the woods! Photos were accurate. Great house to accommodate a couple of families or a large one. Looking forward to staying again!
Perfect place to stay with our larger family. Enjoyed the provided kayaks and paddle boards on the lake. Charming porch, kitchen had all of the equipment we needed. Plenty of seating, indoor and out.Kids enjoyed fun bunk beds and play area, all in great shape.
The house was great, location was good close enough to campus etc, plenty of space, beds where comfortable, and sitting outside by the lake with the firepit was very nice..
Our stay couldn’t have been any better! The house is amazing and Tanner was great with all communications. Already looking at our calendar for dates to return.
We had a wonderful stay at this lake house and would absolutely stay here again! The property is beautiful, very clean, and exactly as described. It had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing getaway. We enjoyed spending time on the lake and using the kayaks. We were able to catch and release several fish in the lake! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, making it the perfect place to unwind. The location was also very convenient—close to campus, with a Publix only about a mile away. As mentioned before, the two driveways are steep, but our group had four cars and none of us had any trouble getting up or down them.Tanner was an outstanding host throughout the entire process. He was incredibly responsive, checked in with us during our stay, and was always happy to help whenever we had a question. He also accommodated an early check-in, which we really appreciated and made our arrival much easier.Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and we highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing lake getaway!
The home is beautiful. Just as described. The owner was extremely nice and responded to text almost immediately, day or night. We will definitely stay there again. My only suggestion would be a few extra blankets (it gets cool sometimes) and watch the driveway…it is a little steep, although we made it fine in a normal car! We were very pleased and would recommend it to anyone…the lake is beautiful and both the kids and adults enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking!
Found out at the last minute we had to work in Tuscaloosa during the biggest game weekend of the year. We found Northwood Retreat and were lucky we did! House looks brand new! Tanner answered all our questions and check-in was super easy. Wish we’d been able to truly enjoy the serene setting on the lake!
The location was great-felt like we were somewhere remote-the neighborhood was very quiet. We did have turtles, ducks, frogs and birds to keep us company which was awesome! The house was very well equipped and comfortable-lots of room for large groups. And even though it seemed remote, it was so close to event places (we were there for a rehearsal dinner and wedding) as well as campus, lots of restaurants etc! Tanner was an awesome host-feels like I have a new friend.Just wishing we had more time to just relax and enjoy the place-would for sure recommend for anyone and will stay there again myself in the future!
We had a fantastic time during our stay at your Northwood Lake Retreat!!There were a couple of issues but the host (Tanner) was great to work with and was very responsive to our requests/needs and he made everything right. The space was beautifully updated and we very much enjoyed our stay. It was perfect for us to have all three of our adult kids stay with us (including their significant others) and my elderly mother and all the family pets. Thank you for having a space where we could all stay together.
Overall, we had a fantastic time and found the property to be beautiful and located in a great area. The space available was more than sufficient for our needs, which was wonderful. However, I wanted to mention a few minor issues we encountered. Firstly, we noticed that there were no life jackets available, so future guests should be advised to bring their own. Additionally, we paid extra for the hot tub, but unfortunately, the hot tub cover was not clean.Lastly, we noticed a discrepancy between the smoking information listed on the site and the printed information at the property. On a positive note, Tanner was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our stay, which we greatly appreciated.
We stayed with our kids ages 2, 5 & 9. We drove to Tuscaloosa each day for a camp which was only a short drive across the bridge. The kids loved the bunk beds and indoor play area. They all slept through the night all week in the bunk beds, and they enjoyed the indoor play area every day! The only thing that would have made the stay even better was if the hot tub pricing was included with the rental price. It does state this on the listing so we were aware of the extra fee, but we were unsure if we’d use the hot tub or not for the week and you can’t add it on once you’re there. It would have been nice as an option to have already included and ready for us to use. Otherwise, the house was clean, lots of kitchen supplies were available and the neighborhood is in a nice, quiet area. Too shallow to swim off the dock area, but there are 2 paddle boards and 2 kayaks to explore the private lake. We had a great stay!
Great property. Might want to be more clear on the swimming and boating options. When we were there, there was a tree fallen across the inlet by the dock. Only kayaks could reach the dock. Also no access to the community pool.
The house was great for our family gathering. It was very clean and comfortable. The property on the lake is gorgeous with a beautiful and expansive lawn. We enjoyed using the kayak that was provided. It's in a very quiet neighborhood with not much traffic so walking around the area felt safe even though there are no sidewalks. The location was ideal for us, as it is close to both historic Northport and downtown Tuscaloosa and the University. The house was easy to find but if you arrive after dark, the first time down the driveway might be challenging given the steep grade. There were plenty of parking spaces for several cars. Definitely recommend!
This property is fantastic for multi-family gatherings. While it is nestled in an established neighborhood, it still felt secluded. Everything was neat and the house was stocked with all the things needed for an enjoyable stay. We had a great time using the kayaks and paddle boards, using the hot tub, and grilling. The lake was perfect for short excursions. At night we sat around the fire pit, had s'mores, and campfire singalongs. It was a great stay to unplug and have good family time, with enough space to spread out if needed. Publix is less than a mile away, as well as a playground/walking trail. Tanner responded quickly and checked on us throughout the stay. Check in and check out was super easy. I highly recommend!
