PARK RANGER GUEST HOUSE GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK
Welcome to Dell City Texas and the Ranger Guest House. Our single level home features 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom to rest after a long day of hiking the nearby Guadalupe Mountains National Park or Salt Flats. This is a rustic house, built in 1955 for farm workers. It is simple with no frills. If you don't like dust, this isn't the home for you. We are located in the Chihuahuan Desert off a dirt road in Dell City so be prepared. We offer a full kitchen, warm showers, and soft beds.
The space Dell City is a very small farming community located about 30 mins west of the Pine Springs Visitor Center of Guadalupe Mountains National Park. It is the closest city to the park.
The home features warm water, fresh towels, comfortable beds, and a place to relax. We do have WiFi and a smartTV to watch all your favorite streaming services. This is a pretty remote area so the WiFi isn't always the best but should work for streaming one device, emails, etc.
The kitchen has a gas range, fridge, microwave, toaster, and everything you should need to make a meal.
We have three window AC units. Most of the summer they keep the home pretty cool but during certain periods of August and July it can get a little warm. It is still comfortable though.
Guest access Guests will be given an access code for a lockbox and will have full access to the home and property.
Other things to note Before you come you should know a few things about the area.
While there are a couple of very small seasonal stores in the area along with a gas station, you should stock up on what you need prior leaving El Paso or Carlsbad, including a full tank of gas.
There are a couple of really amazing restaurants in the area but hours very so best to call ahead or plan to make meals at the home.
We are located in the Chihuahuan desert, so if you mind dust, this isn't the place for you.
Please be respectful of neighbors and keep quite after about 10 PM or so. No smoking or vaping of any kind in the home.
We have a guest book at the home that I would ask you to review when you get there. There are some more resources in it.
Plan to check out by 11:00 AM on the day your reservation states as late check-outs will be charged accordingly.

This is a great place with an even better host. Shawn is on point and has a super solid place to stay. I will return!
This home is exactly as represented. There is ac in both bedrooms and in the kitchen which kept it nice and cool. Great pick if you plan to spend a couple days hiking in these mountains.
It was the perfect little spot to come back to after a couple days hiking at Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Tidy and quaint, in a very tiny town, but it was quiet and all that we needed to relax after long days hiking. No complaints!
Both GNP and Dell City are destinations…not drive-bys! The Ranger Cabin works for those wanting to visit the park. Well appointed, clean, comfortable, and spacious. Worthy of the effort spent for this trip to Guadalupe National Park.
This property was lacking of any amenities. No bottled water, no coffee, no tissues...I could go on. We may be spoiled, but, honestly, we have stayed all over the world in vacation rentals and this was by far the most lacking of a single amenity. If you are used to this type of basic accommodation, and dont expect a couple small bottles of water and some coffee to make morning coffee..then, this may indeed be a good fit. The air worked well, the house was clean, it had all the bare basics.
Wonderful 2 bedroom small home with well stocked kitchen. Clean and very comfortable for our family. Dell City is a small town without many amenities but we did find a pizza place 1 block away with evening hours. 100% that we'd stay at the Park Ranger Guest House again if back to the area.
We had a great stay at the Ranger Guest House in Dell City TX. It is very remote and located in the desert. But very nicely furnished and AC works fine to cool the house down. Do bring along your own food as the diners in town close after lunch. Clean, well-furnished cabin. We enjoyed our stay!
lunch food
This location was pretty convenient to the Guadalupe Mountains and Carlsbad Caverns. Dell City is very small with one working gas station and limited food, so come prepared. The Ranger Station house is small but was stocked. It could have been a little cleaner but served our purposes well.

Thanks for your review! Yes, as mentioned in the profile, it is small dusty town so come prepared with everything you need. That said, we are the closest town to GMNP!
Quaint, remote, but great access to the Guadalupe Park.
Dell City is not really a city. Make sure you have your groceries and amenities before arriving as there’s nothing in the area for supplies. That being said - The Ranger house was clean and welcoming and was a perfect location to visit Guadalupe Park, Carlsbad caverns, and the Salt Flats. Highly recommended for the visitors that don’t mind eclectic places off the beaten path.
The place was clean, had everything we needed, except for salt and pepper. Very good mattress on the primary bed.

Nice and quiet location close to Guadeloupe National park.
The back yard was grown up and needs tending.
The bedroom curtains could not be closed well because they would be sucked into the window units.
I do feel the large deposit is outrageous and the time it takes to get it back. I still haven’t gotten mine back yet.
The host, in the "about this property" says, "if you don't like dust, this isn't the property for you". Dell City and the surrounding area is indeed dusty, but we absolutely relished our time there. The property was perfect for our group of four; it was quite roomy and comfortable; it was well furnished and supplied; it was fun with its West Texas decor and outside picnic table; and there is no closer location if the goal (as was ours) is spending time in Guadalupe Mountains National Park. And nearby Two T's has convenient hours if ice or a last minute grocery item is needed. Shawn was great throughout the process and quick to answer questions during our stay. If we ever head this way again, this is the place we'll be trying to secure.
