This cottage was a great place for our family to use as a base for our vacation activites. It is located in a residential neighborhood which means quiet nights for relaxing and peaceful mornings for getting ready for the day. From going shopping and spending time on the beach in Grand Haven to making day trips to Muskegon for a boat trip or Grand Rapids for visiting the zoo and seeing a baseball game, this cottage was a great base for us to "come home" to every evening. It has all the necessary amenities. There is a fantastic, large back deck for drinking coffee and reading the paper in the morning. The central air conditioning and wi-fi made for pleasant evenings for rejuvenation. A thoroughly enjoyable vacation.
We went to Grand Haven to visit family. It was great to have a home base! Great porch, front and back. Easy access to the Lake, walking distance and driving! Loved everything about the visit! Thank you so much!
Great spot to stay in Grand Haven. Place was spotless and had well stocked pantry and kitchen supplies. Front and back deck were great for eating and hanging out. Stay here, you won’t be disappointed.
The home was quaint and quiet, just what we needed for a perfect getaway. It was close to all the fun things of Grand Haven, and had a wonderful library to pass the time.
We loved it here! Perfect distance to walk anywhere from beach to downtown shops and restaurants. Great communication with owner. It was perfect for us!
We had a wonderful time at this property. I’m from the Grand Haven so it was fun to come back and visit as a tourist. We spent a lot of time on the back deck and there were so many places to eat, shop, and relax within walking distance. We would definitely book this home again in the future. Thank you
This cottage is everything we wanted for a vacation. Walked to beach and downtown. Great home base for trips to Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon and Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids. The house itself had all that we needed for a great week. We really enjoyed having the large deck. Very comfortable and convenient.
I'm from Grand Haven, grew up there and knew right away this was the perfect location. You can walk to the harbor or downtown in a matter of minutes. The property was super clean and the host was very responsive. We would rent this home again in the future if needed.
I traveled to Grand Haven from Minnesota with my mother and sister to attend a wedding in Coopersville. We enjoyed exploring Grand Haven with the lighthouse, beach, restaurants, and shops all within walking distance to our VRBO. The accommodations were great for us three girls, the property owner was easily accessible, and we have no complaints regarding our stay! Would definitely recommend this property!
IT WAS CLEAN AND NEAT. WE DID NT DO ANY COOKING AT THE HOUSE. SO MANY RESTAURANTS , WE ENJOYED THE PORCH IN FRONT AND LOVED WALKING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
This house made my family feel like we lived in Grand Haven for a few days instead of just renting there. Excellent neighborhood, very close to the beach life but not right in it. I would certainly rent here again.
This, by far, has been one of the best homes we’ve ever stayed in for vacation. It was tidy, very kid-friendly (loved that there were games, toys, and books for kids!), and the perfect location. Marilyn was also so kind and communicative. Definitely recommend!
This little house was comfortable and cozy. It’s very conveniently located just a block from all the town has to offer. We loved the accessibility to the waterfront as well as restaurants. We would definitely stay there again.
We stayed at the house over the Labor Day weekend. We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean, had everything we needed and the location was great!
I took a 5 day trip to Grand Haven with a friend for a mom’s getaway. The cottage is in the perfect location. We walked to the beach, down town and the river everyday. Great coffee shops, restaurants and shopping nearby. Quiet neighborhood, very safe and clean. The cottage was spotless and comfortable. Everything we needed was there. Looking forward to coming back with my family!
House was exactly as described, well stocked and was within blocks of downtown and boardwalk. Pronto Pup is just a block away. My only setback was the steep hill coming back from either downtown or the boardwalk. I definitely got a work out

Cute little cottage in great location
We visited Grand Haven for a long weekend in September. Harbor Hill Cottage is just two blocks from the river and Snug Harbor riverfront restaurant. It was fun to watch the boats go in and out of the harbor. Downtown was just a four to five-block walk--very convenient. The cottage was cute and clean--plenty of room for just the two of us.
We discovered Morning Star restaurant on Washington St. and ate breakfast there each of the three mornings we were there. It was so good and had so many offerings, we had something different and unique each morning. Grand Haven State Park and beach is just blocks from the cottage. One day we rode our bikes to the park and another day we rode along the riverfront. The cottage is in a great location!
Marilyn was very informative and made herself available if we needed anything. We would recommend the Harbor Hill Cottage as a very convenient way to see Grand Haven.

Super Great Terrific!!
It’s like visiting a nicely kept cottage that your family owns.
Very clean, well furnished, all needed amenities stove, fridge, AC, cable TV, WIFI, etc...
Sits in a very nice colonial neighborhood, very near the beach and downtown.
We “will” return. 👍

Great location. Very clean
We had a great time in Grand Haven. The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood close to the water and downtown. Very comfortable and clean accommodations. Our only suggestion is a bigger tv in the living room.

About the host
Hosted by Marilyn Schorr
We grew up in Grand Haven and west Michigan and our family still resides in town and in the area. Inn keeping is a family tradition, our parents owned and operated Kastle Inn Resort, about an hour's drive north on Pickeral Lake in Newaygo, MI
Why they chose this property
Our cottage was built in the 1930's as a family vacation property and has been with our family since 2006. In 2015 new floors, beds, oven, and paint were added. We put on a new front deck last fall.
The cottage is up on a hill and less than two blocks from the river waterfront, and two away from downtown. You'll be close to the action, but ensured a quiet night's sleep.
Grand Haven is an ideal family vacation destination. West Michigan prices are generally very reasonable.
What makes this property unique
A library corner, to hold our collection of books, was installed by local Amish carpenters. This cottage is in a quiet and established neighborhood. Our neighbors are friendly and supportive of Grand Haven's many offerings. The cottage has a TV with cable, but it isn't large. We encourage renters to get out and explore, or, on rainy days, curl up with a book on the covered front porch.
