About this property
Modern + Historic: "Evans Suite" Luxury Loft Overlooking Charming DT
Modern + Historic Evans Suite combines "old brick charm" with modern comfort in this spacious 1300sqft unit located on the Square in Williamsburg where you'll be overlooking the bustling downtown and park.
Just two minutes off I-80 you'll be close to:
- Williamsburg Outlets - 2 minutes
- Fireside Winery - 10 minutes
- Amana Colonies - 15 minutes
- Iowa Hawkeyes (University of Iowa, UIHC, Kinnick Stadium & Carver Arena) - 25-30 minutes
Stellapolis Lofts - "The Evans Suite" pays homage to William R. Evans who built the property in 1890 and operated the Mercantile store below. Enjoy the historical photographs throughout that add to the ambiance. Striking features like original hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and (10) 3'x8' windows will make your stay feel truly special.
The Master Bedroom features a King size mattress, walk-in-closet and connects directly to the bathroom and laundry.
The Evans Suite has a full family kitchen complete with brand new appliances and cookware, large Quartz countertop space and four barstools for additional seating.
The second bedroom features (2) double beds for additional sleeping capacity.
If additional sleeping space is needed, a twin folding bed can be added.
Also located on the second floor is The Williams Loft, which shares a common space at the top of the steps. If you have a large group, book both, and you'll be close and still be able to enjoy your own space.
A little history: Until 1860 Williamsburg’s mail service was provided by post offices to the east of the village. However, when the Rock Island Railroad reached Marengo that year Williamsburg petitioned to have their own post office, and a gentleman named Homer Paige was named postmaster.
Mr. Paige’s family included three daughters, the youngest named Stella. Her father incorporated her name into the new post office he was to serve and called it “Stellapolis”-“Stella’s City.” The family soon moved to Des Moines but "Stellapolis” was the official name for the Williamsburg post office for 29 years. The name survived in the local Masonic Lodge, Stellapolis Lodge No. 391 until 2023 and now Stellapolis Lofts occupies where the Mason's met.
