This place was a great spot for the family. Genevieve and Duane were super easy to contact if needed. They stay in the apt upstairs and are super reachable! And the downstairs can be rented out in two different apts. This place has everything you could need!

Magical Moments at Carolina Beach

This is a historic property modernized to please. It was a unique experience to be situated right on the beach. Just go a few steps out the back door and your feet are in the sand. The back porch is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful sun and moon rises over the ocean. Bring your crew and settle in to begin making happy memories.

Beach Side paradise

Girls weekend was a huge success in large part due to this stay. We had everything we needed and everything was clean and access to the beach was amazing. Close to everything fun to do in Carolina Beach. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay with great views and great hosts!

My family and I stayed here for a long weekend while we were in town for a wedding. The place was very neat and tidy and the private beach access and views were awesome! The hosts were great, always available for any questions, and very quick to help with any need. This place was definitely inviting and made for a great trip. Kudos to the hosts for a great place to prop your feet up and enjoy awesome sun rises!

Awesome house!

We came to celebrate a son’s graduation from UNC-W. What a great house for family to gather! The owners have thought of everything! The space is comfortable and well equipped. We ate fresh crabs outside on the picnic table- they even had crab crackers in the kitchen! We definitely recommend this house and hopefully will be back! Thanks for sharing your awesome house!

The Carolina Beach House!

We had the best time. We’ve came to Carolina beach for years - but after staying here, we have found our new permanent vacation rental! Genevieve and Duane were so accommodating and nice. The place had anything we could need. Umbrellas, beach gear, games to play together, extra blankets.. you name it! We have already booked our next stay!

Siblings trip

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful rental house near the beach. The location was incredibly convenient, just a short walk to the beautiful shoreline. The host was exceptionally friendly and easy to work with, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. One thing to keep in mind is to bring a few daily living supplies with you, such as toilet paper, trash bags, and laundry soap. This small consideration didn't detract from our overall experience, and we had a fantastic stay. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a beachside getaway!

Lovely Spot

We have a beautiful time. There was beach gear and games that we hadn't expected that make it more enjoyable. The online listing didn't show all the bedrooms and bathrooms so we weren't sure what to expect. Everything worked out well and we had a great time.

Peace and quiet with an ocean breeze

The house is great! Full kitchen, full laundry, fully stocked bath towels. We had 4 bedrooms. The porch is great, cant really see the water from the porch but you're only steps away from being on the beach. We enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs, listening to the waves and enjoying the breeze. They have chairs available right on the beach access. Just grab a chair and go. They also provided a beach shade which was super easy to use and kept us from getting sunburnt. They provided coolers as well. Saves so much room in the car not having to carry all of those supplies. The owners are extremely kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our time. We also celebrated my daughter's birthday while there. We made a day of it at the aquarium, then played on the beach, and ended our day riding the music express on the boardwalk. Fun for all. I would definitely recommend this property and would rent again. Thanks for letting us stay! Lacey, Matt, Lucas, and Mady.

**BEWARE-Owners live upstairs-NEVER clearly mentioned in description-Owners are overbearing!!!!!

I arrived (mother of 3), w/husband, my 15, 18 & 21 yr old w/1 friend each. This was a family/birthday wkend for my son. We are big UFC and Celtics fans. We planned to enjoy a day at the beach, have a bday meal, and enjoy a night watching a big UFC event. We arrived and strangly were approached by the owner which felt awkward right away, she directed us all how to park, and insisted on giving us a tour of the small place before giving a key. It was uncomfortable & seemed weird right away.We then were told they live upstairs- DOES NOT say this in the listing! That is deceptive! I would have NEVER booked this place. We like privacy, and stay away from controlling owners-like these older folks. It put a huge "damper" on the entire wend and knew our excitement when we watch games etc, would rub these old folks the wrong way, but we did our family fun, laughed, played card games, enjoyed wine, prepared for the celtics game. We hooted as the game was close, got excited like people do, and clapped. But no means were having a big party-Duane=owner- pounded on the door and said other guests complained and would call the cops! Wow! They didn't realize we knew the guests under us and we spoke to them both- they did not complain-so he lied and it was actually the owner saying this. It completely ruined our son's bday weekend-we couldn't show excitement or have fun! It was horrible. both owners were controlling and expect people to not let lose from busy lives after spending $1000s! NOPE!

Prime location with the ocean literally at the bottom of your steps! The porch was a beautiful gathering place for our Women’s Prayer Group! Clean and spacious for our group to gather for our sessions yet provided some areas for private reflection and reading. I loved the air flow through the house from the ocean as we opened windows. Genevieve and Duane were wonderful hosts and so accommodating. Beds were comfortable.

To start..our host met us outside when we arrived. She gave us a tour of the home showing where everything was. The house was perfect. We had a wonderful restful time. We could not have asked for a better place. Host are very responsive to text and questions.

The location is excellent—just steps from the dunes with the sound of the ocean right outside. Extras like coolers, beach toys, and boogie boards were appreciated.However, there were major downsides. Privacy is not as advertised. The owners live above the unit and sometimes stay next door. It was obvious we were being watched, and the kitchen windows have no blinds, which did not feel accidental.EV charging was a serious issue. The listing and rule book never mention it being prohibited. I plugged my Tesla into a 15-amp outdoor outlet, but the owner unplugged it almost immediately. In doing so, they looped the prongs of my charger around the handle, which appears to have scratched my car. This was invasive—if concerned, they could have tripped the breaker instead of handling my property.The unit also has safety concerns. The electrical system is outdated, with many ungrounded outlets. I had to buy a grounded extension cord just to charge my laptop safely. Every room had light 16–18 gauge cords in place of outlets, which is a fire hazard. The floors are uneven, the refrigerator doesn’t seal without a hard push (risking food spoilage), and one bedframe was zip-tied together.Finally, notes in the unit pressure guests to leave only 5-star reviews. While the location is great, the lack of privacy, intrusive owner behavior, and multiple safety issues made this stay disappointing.

We decided some time ago our next adventure in life would be to own a beach house vacation rental. We came to this decision after visiting a quaint beach vacation rental on the coast of Georgia. The owner had six units which he personally oversaw living in the upstairs quarters (which we now do here at The Carolina Beach House... read more!). His kitchen served as his work station and greeting area. After visited him we came to the conclusion... why could we not do something similar? So we undertook the hard but fun work of researching what it would take to run an "Inn". Providing food service is something we did not want to undertake. So not a bed and breakfast, but rather a simple clean, comfortable, and safe guest house type accommodation. Next was the process of visiting the various towns and beaches lining the North Carolina Coast. Having our real estate licences in the state of NC fortunately kept our reach just to this wonderful state. We fell more and more in love with Carolina Beach with each visit. Then a matter of finding the perfect property. Something manageable, but yet viable to be a full time career for the two of us. What was formerly "Alexander's Hideaway" found us that magical once in a lifetime opportunity! Having survived five major named hurricanes during nearly 100 years of existence this wonderful injured beach house was in need of extensive love and care. Upon your visit the before and after pictures will truly show you the story. New metal roof to replace the dying multi-layered shingled aged roof, leaking wood windows replaced with new low-E vinyl efficiency windows, new furniture, new appliances, freshly painted inside and out, fresh look to the block construction foundation walls to include a colorful concrete sealer, reconstructed decks to support the weight of any number of guests... the list goes on! We're so pleased with the work put into our beach house by all involved. We look forward to meeting you!

Why they chose this property

Specifically this property... the beach house is actually a very versatile duplex. We briefly considered a larger property - more of a hotel type feel, but concluded it would be too overwhelming for just the two of us. The Town of Carolina Beach and New Hanover County recognize the property as a duplex. Reason for that is the two side by side units 1st floor (bottom floor) have an adjoining door. It's continuous living space, so the two spaces could be shared. And the large second floor has an adjoining door to the small third floor flat. So with this comes as many as three separate living accommodations to rent as vacation rentals. Although a daunting task to start with all of the necessary renovations, we felt once complete the beach house would be within our ability to maintain and entertain the number of people who could visit with us at any one time. The lower right accommodation is perfect for a couple and perhaps a child or two. One bedroom and a Day Bed with Trundle in the family room. This quaint and quirky "D space", titled "The Seahorse", features a seahorse theme and a 3/4 tall bedroom door with top portion of the opening closed with swag curtains. Has a full kitchen as do all the other vacation accommodations. Open Dining and Family Rooms with wonderful views of the back yard. Private seating covered patio out back and of course access the private boardwalk. The "C" space, titled "The Sand Dollar", next door is a mirror image of the Seahorse with the exception of not having the additional Dining area rather has a second bedroom... sleeps up to six (has pull out sleeper sofa in Family Room). Then there is this 'B" 2nd floor accommodation "The Anchor" being featured here with this listing! With a full sized kitchen, ocean views from all bedrooms truly serves as our anchor for this beach house. So having the vision and what the prospects could come of this endeavor we dove right in!

What makes this property unique

Positioned OCEAN FRONT, nearest the ocean than the more recent construction required to meet certain setbacks from the ocean front... gives way to the best views pier to pier (up and down the island)! Once you enter the front door with the incredible views of the beach and ocean whatever stress you may have had will drain from every fiber in your body. You won't want to leave. Don't believe us?
