French Pyrenees / Mediterranean Village Cottage

This fully renovated apartment occupies the ground floor of a traditional stone cottage in the medieval village of Eus – with the prestigious ‘plus beau ville de France’ status and claiming to be the sunniest village in France! Ideal for a couple or small family, the accommodation includes a queen-sized double room and a den with day bed (opens as a single or double bed). The bathroom is a good size and has a plumbed in washing machine. A spacious, well equipped kitchen adjoins a small dining area which leads into a comfortable living room with large window looking onto the famous Canigou Mountain directly across the valley. A terraced balcony at the front and a private, shaded courtyard in the rear allow outdoor seating/bbqs, and on-street parking in front of the house is a real convenience in the steep village where most properties require an uphill walk to reach them. This is a quiet and private apartment from which to access mountain sports and recreation, historical tours, sunny beaches or just plain relaxing with a glass of the local wine and a gorgeous view!

Apartment with a wonderful view

This is an apartment with a wonderful view of the Canigou from the window. The secluded balcony has the same view and we could sit out in the late afternoon and watch the martins and swallows, and the occasional bird of prey. Everything else is secondary really, but the apartment is spacious, well-equipped and quiet at night. Eus is a most attractive hill village with many old houses and narrow streets. The only slight drawback is the very narrow street at the front which is difficult for parking, and the steep steps up to the apartment. But parking in the wider road close by was always possible. It’s very conveniently placed also to visit local attractions like the superb romanesque monasteries of St Martin-du-Canigou and Serrabone and the fortified village of Villefranche-de-Conflent.

Wonderful Stay in a Comfortable Home

We had a fantastic one-week stay in Eus. The house was very comfortable and well-equipped, making our visit relaxing and enjoyable. Check-in and check-out were smooth. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Hiking and visiting

We are very satisfied with our stay. The place is nice, well situated and it is is easy to go hiking right from the village. There are plenty of places to visit around. The only minor thing was that we could hear everything people did in the appartement above us. This should be a question of isolation.

Es stimmt: herrlich

Wir sind mit dem Motorrad gekommen um den halben August dort zu verbringen, und haben uns sehr wohl dort gefühlt. Die Wohnung ist total gemütlich und liebevoll eingerichtet, in warmen Farben mit Holzfußboden, annähernd in Komplettausstattung inc. Geschirrspüler, Waschmaschine und Grill. Uns hat nur die Salatschleuder gefehlt...Alles hat einen sehr gepflegten Eindruck gemacht. Von der Eingangsterrasse hat man sowohl ein schönen Blick auf das Tal und den gegenüberliegenden fast 2700m hohen Berg, als auch auf das Treiben der ankommenden Tagesgäste, was einen nicht zu unterschätzenden Unterhaltungswert besitzt, ohne dass es unangenehm oder laut wäre. Die Nachbarschaft ist sehr angenehm und außerordentlich freundlich. Der Ort an sich ist wunderbar, es gibt mehrere Restaurants und zwei Bars, alle mit Aussicht und zu empfehlen. Zwei kleine Rundwanderwege führen mit tollen Aussichten um das Dorf herum. Ausflugsziele und Unternehmungen gibt es in der Umgebung mehr, als man in einem Urlaub nutzen kann. Das Meer ist (mit dem Motorrad) in ca. 1Std. zu erreichen. Man sollte auf jeden Fall mobil sein, Geschäfte gibt es keine im Ort, dafür auch zum Glück keine Andenkenläden. Der nächste Supermarkt ist 10 min entfernt, also kein Problem.

Un emplacement idéal face au Mont Canigou

Cet appartement est parfaitement placé en face du mont Canigou et dans un très beau village. Tout est à disposition pour passer un bon séjour : équipement de l'appartement, ventilateurs, chaises à l’extérieur. La vue et le village sont magnifiques !

Decouverte du Conflent et de la Catalogne Nord

Nous avons passé un tres bon séjour à Eus dans un appartement très bien agencé, très calme avec une vue magnifique sur le Canigó. C'est un bon point de départ pour découvrir la Catalogne Nord et particulièrement le Conflent : Prades, Villefranche de Conflent et le Fort Liberia , les abbayes Sant Miquel de Cuixà et Sant Marti del Canigó, le villages d'Evol . . .

Magnifique

Couple âgé (75-80ans) très bel appartement, propre bien rénové, tout fonctionne et est bien pensé, même 2 oreillers par personne. Vue splendide sur le Canigou, magnifique village. Avons eu la chance d'avoir une place devant la maison pour décharger et charger la voiture. Merci pour le bon vin de cadeau de bienvenue.Le prix de la location était en livres, ce que je n'avais pas vu. Donc un peu plus cher que prévu, d'autant plus que la banque a compté des frais pour convertir les livres en €. N'avons malheureusement pas pu profiter de la terrasse, table très sale et abîmée. Descriptif d'arrivée très clair, avons trouvé rapidement, même sans personne pour nous accueillir.

Heimelige Wohnung mit allem Komfort

Das Dorf Eus liegt traumhaft mit Blick auf den Mont du Canigou. Das Objekt ist sehr gut zu erreichen. Die Küche super komfortabel. Alles sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und wären gerne länger geblieben. Von Eus aus kann man tolle Wanderungen unternehmen. Gastronomie vorhanden und mehrere Supermärkte im nicht weit entfernten Prades vorhanden. Wir möchten gerne wiederkommen!!

Belle région et maison parfaite!

Nous avons passé une merveilleuse semaine à Eus. Le village est un refuge adorable accroché à la montagne. La maison de Stewart est très confortable, parfaitement équipée et décorée avec goût. Cerise sur le gâteau : elle est idéalement située avec une belle vue sur le Canigou et possibilité de se garer tout près, à Eus, c’est un luxe !! Il y a beaucoup de choses à faire dans le coin, nombreux villages très jolis, belles rendis au départ du village, un super accrobranche à Marquixanes, des producteurs locaux de fruits, et la plage à 1h. Merci pour ce super séjour ! On s très envie de revenir!

Vue imprenable sur le Canigou

Appartement très agréable, décoré avec goût, très confortable pour un couple. Patio très agréable pour dîner, terrasse avec vue exceptionnelle pour le petit déjeuner. Pas de climatisation mais des ventilateurs dans chaque pièce à utiliser au besoin. Eus est le départ de randonnées d'autres sont vite accessibles à proximité. Vivre à Eus se mérite, il faut aimer marcher! Pour résumer séjour formidable, je recommande vivement

Village plein de charme pour ceux qui ont une bonne forme physique . Pas de commerce sur place!l

Maison tout confort, pleine de charme avec un balcon ensoleillé sur un paysage splendide. Il manque juste des couettes d'hiver pour février, nous avons eu froid. La télé ne marche pas sauf pour DVD. Il faut prendre la voiture et aller a 3 km dans un supermarché pour trouver du pain! Un dépôt au village serait sympathique!

Une semaine d'évasion

Nous avons passé une semaine très agréable dans un cadre magnifique, un logement bien aménagé, bien entretenu et joliment décoré. on se sentait comme chez soi : apéritifs sur le balcon, repas du soir dans la petite cour, vue sur le paysage, nous y serions bien restés une semaine de plus. The owners are Stacy and Stewart Monteith. We are probably best described as an 'international' couple, Stacy is from the States and Stewart is from the UK. We met and married in Kuwait where, among other far-flung places, we have been teachers in international schools.
We now live in Florida, again teaching for a living but now more 'grounded' and here to stay (probably!).

Why they chose this property

Our Eus(ful) house was bought in 2005 to provide a 'home for the summer' when on school holidays and as a possible retirement home. Originally, it was one house that was converted into two flats by previous owners. We have kept it that way, but have completely redesigned and remodeled the interior and added windows, put on a new roof and new floors and floor beams in both apartments and had a complete rewire and new plumbing. The outside areas and the 'cave' have also been given a complete overhaul, away from the rather 'utilitarian' condition they were found in. The renovation took over 3 years but we have ended up with a property that has all the convenience and practicality of a modern home, but blends perfectly with the charming, old stone buildings of the village. We take great pride in our 'new' house and hope our guests will enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

Eus is possibly the most picturesque village in the conflent valley and irresistibly draws the eye as one drives along the road into the Pyrenees. When we were seeking a property to use a s a holiday / retirement home in the area, we never thought it would be possible to find an available home for sale. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate that something did become available and what's more, a house which we fell in love with at first sight. We are now very happy that we can share the good fortune to be able to holiday in such extraordinarily beautiful surroundings, with our guests who have always expressed a similar appreciation for their stay in our 'home from home' in Eus.
