Beautiful home excellent host and one of the best properties I’ve ever stayed at. And because I am a cat lover, they’re a cat that hang around here that I just sat on the porch and watched.

Hi David: Thank you for the lovely review. It means alot to me. I left you five stars as well. Come back anytime. Sincerely, Lori
Lori was so easy to work with and quickly available for any questions that we had. The house was gorgeous and had plenty of room for the seven of us who stayed there. The house was outfitted beautifully with anything we could have possibly wanted. We felt like we were on a beautiful retreat in the gorgeous backyard. And it was nice to be in a neighborhood where we could take a walk at night. Would definitely recommend!
I spent the weekend in Bakersfield with family and had a great time at the Hacienda! The kitchen is well equipped with cooking items and there were enough spaces in the house that I could escape the noise of loud talkers. ;)Lori was incredibly responsive and kindly left snacks for arrival. There was a lot of street parking and a grocery store less than 10 min away.

I am so glad that you enjoyed yourselves. Please come back anytime. LORI
We had a great stay. The house is really nice with some fun spaces. It's in terrific shape and well maintained. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. Most of the bedrooms are on the ground floor with a master suite upstairs. Plenty of puzzles to work on. Lots of natural light.
I couldn’t have been more satisfied about our stay at this ‘Hacienda’. We had a family gathering with a wide range of ages, mobility, and needs who were all able to enjoy their stay in this house. Firstly, everything was clean and easily accessible. There was an abundance of snacks and treats available when we arrived. The check-in was super easy and clear, and having the garage access into the house made loading and unloading everything very easy. We enjoyed almost every meal at the table outside- during hot hours or cooler evenings- it was just the perfect place to gather. The pool was fun, as was enjoying all the lounge chairs outside. Inside, every conceivable kitchen item was available, and we actually played board games and puzzles (we never get to at home). This place has all you need, even travel toothpaste and shaving sets!Would highly recommend this place and the old school bakery a few blocks away. The host was very responsive, generous with her home, and gracious with our family and all we come with.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
This home was clean, although filled with many antiques. Guests with children or larger families may find it difficult to relax in the space.Unfortunately, our experience with the host was very challenging. Before booking, I clearly communicated that we were planning a small family reunion to celebrate my grandson’s graduation, and the host acknowledged this. Despite that, during our stay she accused us of planning an “event,” which we believe was based on her monitoring us through exterior cameras rather than any actual neighbor complaint. The situation escalated when the host contacted VRBO and us and claimed that a visitor had misbehaved on camera without our knowledge, and was causing her chest pains. Once I received her text message I asked the person to leave and communicated with the host; we thought the issue had been resolved. Without prior warning, she sent multiple late‑night messages stating that our reservation had been canceled and that we had three hours to leave. We did not see these messages until the next morning. She also stated she had called the police. The police arrived hours later, and we cooperated fully while confirming details with VRBO.Even after we left, the host continued sending unprofessional and mocking messages about my family. This was deeply disappointing and not something we have ever experienced in years of travel. While the property itself has potential, the host’s behavior made the stay extremely stressful.

To clarify, this reservation was cancelled by Vrbo due to a violation of Vrbo’s Rules of Conduct, not due to any house‑rules issue. The conduct violation involved harassment, intimidation, and an obscene gesture directed at me. Specifically, one of the guests stood on my front porch and extended her middle finger toward my Ring camera, which was directed at me personally.
I am a senior citizen, and this behavior was threatening, intimidating, hostile, and unacceptable. I submitted the still image from my ring doorbell to VRBO and they immediately cancelled their reservation and asked them to vacate the property, For clarity, Vrbo’s Rules of Conduct prohibit:
Harassment or intimidation of hosts
Obscene, abusive, or hostile gestures or language
Threatening or unsafe behavior
Any conduct that creates a hostile environment for the host
This is the category under which Vrbo cancelled the reservation. Bakersfield Police had to be dispatched to remove them. This further confirms that the issue was not related to house rules, but to guest misconduct and safety concerns.
There was no party, no excess occupancy, and no violation of my house rules. The cancellation was based solely on the guest’s behavior, which Vrbo determined to be a violation of platform policy. Furthermore, I was allowed to keep the payout and now these awful people are tyring to get a waiver, however, they will not prevail as VRBO does not give waivers of Violations of VRBO's own internal rules.
My family and guests had nothing but great things to say about this delightful home. Lori is a thoughtful, considerate host who made check-in easy and stayed in touch just enough to ensure everything was perfect. From the street, the home looks like others in this modest, well-kept neighborhood, but once the front door opens it is a wonderful surprise. The house is gorgeous, filled with beautiful furniture, art, floors, tile, and thoughtful details. There was so much to take in that we kept discovering new touches throughout our stay.Beyond its beauty, the home was extremely comfortable for our group of three teenagers and four adults. We were welcomed with snacks in many rooms, which felt especially inviting. The kitchen is exceptionally well stocked with everything needed to cook and serve meals, including spices and oils. The entertainment room is spacious and cozy with a large TV, games, and books. Bedrooms were roomy with excellent mattresses and bedding, and the bathrooms were spotless, well stocked, and had great water pressure. The pool and backyard are equally beautiful. We hosted a small dinner with the owner’s permission (for a reasonable fee), and there was plenty of space and seating for about 15 people. The location is convenient to stores, restaurants, Highway 178, and downtown. Considering everything this one-of-a-kind home offers, the rate is not just fair—it’s a bargain. We would absolutely stay here again and are already looking for a reason to return
