Our stay was short but wonderful. The owners helped us so much with our transportation problems and made sure that our stay was great. Beautiful surroundings in the jungle area, the river view from deck, listening to native birds, and howler monkeys made our trip very special.
We loved our stay at the Howler house! The covered patio was great to sit and listen to the wild life, and keep the bugs off. Got to see the monkeys on the deck, lots of birds, and a few lizards. Hope to be back one day!
We LOVED the Howler House. Shanna was an excellent host. She communicated early about transportation and helped us get a tour booked to see the Mayan Ruins and a Ziplining tour. Without her our traveling experience would have been challenging. We loved being in the jungle and seeing the howler monkeys right off the deck was such a cool experience. We were concerned about the bugs but that was not an issue as long as you keep the house doors closed. The bikes were a huge plus to explore the small town.
Kenny and Shana were excellent hosts and were super helpful with everything. Made the trip go smoothly and we were able to expirience Belize in a way we never would have been able to
We stayed only one night before a trip to the islands. Kenny is awesome and made the trip easy. The house is good and the wildlife was fun to see. The canoe was a major bonus!
We had a wonderful stay. We were fortunate to have a small family of howlers visit us on the porch deck; an iguana also checked in on us. The premises were clean and the kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary tools and utensils for cooking. We would readily book another stay here. Thanks for the great communication and the hospitality!

Neat cabin
Our review is limited by the short overnight stay but even so we were able to appreciate how special this cabin and its location are. You feel like you are roughing it in the middle of the jungle yet you are in a well appointed cabin not far from any needs. The set up amongst the trees by a river is beautiful and nature watching from the comfortable balcony hammocks is very relaxing. We hope to come back for a longer stay.
The hosts of this property are very friendly. They helped us with every aspect of our time with them.
We went on a baboon sactuary tour which was amazing. Overall the property was perfect. Quiet and peaceful.
We got a visit from an iguana and the howler monkeys were off in a distance. We had toucans right at the property. Beds were comfortable and we all slept like babies.

Unique and Exciting Retreat
We had a great stay at the Howler House. Although a little tough to find, the house is directly on the Belize River and offered a beautiful setting for lounging on the balcony and searching for birds and monkeys in the trees. The house was well equipped with necessary amenities and entirely screened in to keep out mosquitos. It did seem that the house could use a few minor repairs, but our stay was comfortable nonetheless and the owner was easy to contact if necessary. Would definitely recommend the Howler House for future travelers!
The Howler House was so relaxing. It has all you need to unwind and enjoy nature. The monkeys came each day, we saw iguanas and so many birds. Kenny and Shanna made sure we knew where everything was and how to get around the town. The tours we booked with them were amazing, very personalized.
My husband has some mobility issues from a stroke, we had no problem doing the zipline, cave tubing, horseback riding. They were willing to accommodate with an easy pace and we had great guides on each tour! The Mayan chocolate tour is excellent! Hands on and yummy tasting.
We would definitely recommend this property and tours they offer.

Perfect Home in Perfect Location
Our stay at Howler House in Burrell Boom was our introduction to Belize and life in the Belize River Valley. The Treehouse has a great kitchen, comfortable bed, and lovely shower, but the most magical feature was the deck. We sat there for hours, looking down through the trees at the river. The visits from the local troupe of Howlers was as thrilling as hearing them. The variety of bird life was amazing. The network of people connected to Howler House enriched our trip immeasurably - they were warm, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
The Howler House and personal cave tubing tour was the perfect way to finish off our Belize trip!
The location set in the tree tops with birds, frogs , iguanas and yes howler monkeys!!
Shanna and Kenny were amazing and knowledgable, even arranging pick up to take us to the water taxi to get to Caye caulker which was our first destination.
We would have loved to stay longer (but as they are building 3 more unit's on the property, and a little construction happening we were glad we booked the relaxing cave tubing during the day )
The new units look amazing so we may just have to return someday ❤️
We had a great time staying here. The property managers, Shana and Kenny kept in touch daily and set up all excursions we wanted with guides... we really loved all the tours and the guides could not have been more knowledgeable and friendly.
The Howler House itself was adorable. We saw a dozen or so howlers, several large iguanas, the resident crocodile, lots of different birds, and a few cool spiders.
As very early risers, we loved getting up and making coffee and sitting in the dark on the big wraparound porch listening to the jungle come alive in the mornings.
We would absolutely stay here again!

About the host
Hosted by Shanna Williams
The Original Owner Erika bought the property with two friends in 2013 and built the Howler House - slowly. She had first came to Belize in 1981 - from Canada, and she is now Retired in Belize full time. Her new partners Kenny and Shanna embarked on a new project as soon as they took over management right after Covid. With their drive to have guest get an amazing experience and to be able to accomodate more guest they were able to get investors to build 3 new units. So now guest have the ability to book the entire property for girls trips, family trips. One of the houses is a two bedroom luxurious cabin with modern amenities. There are also 2 loft style units that can accomodate couples or party of 3. These two are luxurious cabins with AC and modern commodities .
Why they chose this property
The village of Burrell Boom is so sweet! The people are friendly and open-hearted, the wild life is amazing, the property is a piece of jungle paradise, and the location is central: 20 mins to the airport, and close to so many amazing things to do in Belize.
What makes this property unique
Time changes when you hang in the hammock on the deck of the Howler House listening to the birds and the frogs and watching the river roll by - ahhhh. You will see Big Red, the giant Iguana that lives in the tree beside the house, and there is a new baby crocodile just hatched in the pond behind the house (Do not feed!!) and the family of Howler Monkeys that might wake you up at night howling at the moon, has been living on this river bank for generations and generations. In the evening the sky is alive with stars and the deck of the house is the best place in the world to be,
