Your host
I live in Newark, NJ now, but have called many places home: Guyana (my native country), Washington, DC, New York City (Brooklyn), Madison WI, Los Angeles CA (Pasadena), and Monterey CA. I've spent a lot of time in Johannesburg, South Africa and Salvador, Brazil, and visited many others. To date, I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese, and would love to add French and an Asian language (perhaps Korean?) to my repertoire. I love meeting and engaging with people from other parts of the world.

Newark’s South Ward has heart. It’s full of culture, history, and people who shape the world. This neighborhood is busy, vibrant and active. If you're looking for a serene, peaceful location, this is not it!
We're on a tree-lined, residential street in a part of Newark that's full of fascinating (and sometimes painful) history. We get to see, in real time, the ongoing transformation that the city is undergoing.
