Iconic Home Perched Between Alta And Snowbird, Perfect for a Family Gathering!

Greetings future Guests! My name is Ellie and I’m the property manager for the Altabird Chalet. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions and I hope to see you soon.

The Altabird Chalet is perched between Alta and Snowbird. Just a short free shuttle ride to Alta Ski Area, and a short free shuttle ride and ski to Snowbird. It offers stunning panoramic views of the entire breadth of Little Cottonwood Canyon from Patsy Marley to Mt. Superior and beyond. Designed by a lifelong Alta resident to take full advantage of sun, snow, and views with windows and skylights, the Altabird Chalet is a welcoming environment perfect for multi-family ski vacations.

It has six bedrooms each with its own bathroom and full closet, and a newly renovated kitchen fully equipped for the modern chef. Kitchen/dining design makes for quality group interaction while preparing and enjoying meals and hosting apres-ski. Kitchen doubles as a crow's nest.

The living room layout makes for a perfect gathering place. In addition, the den downstairs provides kids with a separate hang-out area. Both rooms have TVs and media centers.

The Altabird Chalet is a home away from home. Its comfortable cozy decor makes for a great place to stay whether you are coming in from a full day skiing/boarding, or taking a day off. You can x-country ski and snowshoe out the door or enjoy soaking in the view from the private outdoor hot tub.

Included are: wheelchair accessibility, wifi, two-car garage with extra refrigerator and fully equipped tuning bench, comfortable even radiant heated floors, private outside hot tub with stunning views, two gas fireplaces, sunning deck with gas grill, washer/dryer, boot dryer, games, books, etc.

**Vehicles are required to have AWD with SNOW TIRES.
**Google maps will want to bring you to the lower parking lot entrance. Avoid that. The main entrance is through the large green garage door located off the main highway just before Gate E. The kitchen is on this level. There's an extra fridge in the garage.
**You'll want to get supplies before coming up the canyon. Smith's grocery store is good. They have a *click list* you can order online and pick up. I would go to the one on 3300 S. off of the belt route I-215 heading east to the ski areas. There's a state liquor store nearby.

The best amenity of all is our on-site caretaker/manager couple, Ellie & Ryan. They have worked and lived in the canyon for more than a decade and know almost all there is to know about it from the best powder skiing stashes to Wasatch backcountry adventures, to the best restaurants, masseuses, and everything else. They are more than happy to help with transportation organization, hiring personal chefs or anything else that might make your trip more enjoyable.

What an incredible property so conveniently located between Alta and Snowbird ski resorts. A perfect place for a family reunion with plenty of space for everyone. Epic ski trip to Alta!!

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful property! the house easily accommodated 11 people from three families. The bathrooms were well stocked with basic toiletries and the kitchen had salt/pepper, spices and olive oil/pam. The hot tub was great after skiing! Everything worked well and the property was perfectly located for our ski vacation! The property managers were very helpful. We would love to visit again!

House needs updating, accomodations are "dated" - but they're sufficient. It's a great location to base area lifts, you can wait a few minutes for local bus, or walk across Peruvian and main parking lot in morning to base, and ski home through Wildcat area.

Very large family space upstairs including well equipped kitchen. We fed 13 two nights. Good and flexible bedroom space. Caretaker-managers were very responsive to our questions before our stay and quite helpful when we were there. Access to skiing through Alta shuttle worked well when roads were open and not clogged with traffic. Highly recommend.

Great location, great on-site hosts!

Great location and spacious house with plenty of room for families. Our experience was made better by the constant help and communication with the on-site hosts Ellie and Ryan who managed snow removal and kept us informed about weather and travel advisories. The house is right by shuttle stop #9, and is an easy trip to both Wildcat and Albion bases. We also made use of the grocery delivery service (Susie) and Chef Meghan. We cannot recommend Chef Meghan's meal delivery service enough and will absolutely use her again next year. Looking forward to coming back for another trip in 2024!

Just completed our third stay at the AltaBird Chalet. Perfect house for our annual ski trip. As close to Alta as you can get. 3 minute free shuttle ride to wildcat base. Ski home at end of day. Property is immaculately maintained. Ellie and Ryan respond immediately to inquiries and are very flexible and accommodating. Kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Bathrooms are spacious and clean. Large common area. Already ready to book our trip for next year.

Convenient luxury

Staying at the AltaBird Chalet was a total shot in the dark for my “guy's weekend” 50th birthday ski trip. And it was a bullseye. The property is conveniently located—close to Snowbird and Alta, and the Alta Shuttle drivers know exactly where it is for super-simple pickups and drop-offs. The home itself is pure luxury—big rooms, comfy beds, great hot tub, large garage for bigger vehicles, great bathrooms, and more. Thank you to the family who owns the Chalet and trusts strangers enough to stay in their lovely home. And thank you to the amazing hosts—Ellie and Ryan—for being so helpful, accommodating, and all-around great. I hope to organize another stay there in the future.
