Inside the cabin, please do not access the storage totes under the twin bed and the tote in the loft that are labeled "No Guest Access" storage space is limited inside the cabin and expect that you respect our items that are stored for our turnover cleaning process only.
Other Things to Note:
Cabin
The cabin comfortably sleeps four guests. Additional guests are not allowed, except for infants who can occupy a pack 'n play. The cabin features a lot of natural, exposed wood, which may cause slivers, stubbed toes, or scrapes from sharp edges. Guests with limited mobility might find the small spaces challenging to navigate. The lofted area can be hazardous for infants and young children; you can move the ladder in the loft to prevent access, if needed.
Activities
Hunting is not allowed on the property at any time. Fishing is permitted at the creek, but it requires a walk to reach. Enjoy activities such as playing games, drawing, writing, listening to music, meditating, relaxing in the hot tub, taking small walks in the prairie, and observing wildlife. A quick 8 minute drive will bring you to East Lake Vermillion where there is public access to a beach, fishing docks, restrooms, volleyball court, picnic tables and a shelter.
Resources
The nearest town is about 10-15 minutes away, but there are no gas stations or laundromats nearby. Any services you may need will require a 10+ minute drive. Our guidebook includes recommendations for local bars and restaurants.
Bugs
You will encounter bugs during your stay, both inside and outside the cabin. Expect to see spiders, mosquitoes, flies, and various other insects native to South Dakota. While we provide bug spray, we highly recommend bringing your own for added protection.
Wildlife
During your stay, you may encounter various wildlife. In the field, you might see cows, snakes, raccoons, coyotes, foxes, rabbits, prairie dogs, and more. Remember, we are in their natural environment, so please be mindful and respectful of their space.

This place was incredibly clean and private. While enjoying the hot tub, we enjoyed the cows in the pasture, a couple of roasters, birds singing, and the beautiful sunset. So if you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is it!

My new favorite getaway! This sweet little cabin is in the middle of a beautiful Midwest prairie field. Near a small town with grocery store and a few restaurants. We will absolutely be coming back

Thank you for staying. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to hosting you again sometime soon!
It was fine I guess. The wind whipped the door out of the hand of my 11 year old nephew and Abby charged us 50 saying we should have held onto the door better…? When we complained to vrbo they told us the host chose the charge the guest option over the insurance option? Wish them well I suppose but not the best experience if we’re being completely honest.

Thanks for your review. We appreciate you being honest that the door was broken when you were coming and going during your stay. We did just replace the door as we let you know. It is a guests responsibility when they damage something during their stay. It is windy on the bluff and we make many notes about the doors needing to be secured. Anytime you stay somewhere and break something you will be fully responsible.
