We loved our stay at Judy's place! It was spacious and clean and everything seemed new, from the appliances to the casita itself. Extremely comfortable, far enough off the Kit Carson Road to be quiet and bucolic, but close enough to walk to town for a trip to the farmer's market or lunch and a gallery walk. And it stayed cool all day long, despite the temperatures climbing to 84 (which is hot in Taos). Can we talk about the fantastic bathroom and shower? Too often, a rental will be great, except when it comes to the shower. This was like staying at a spa. Truly. We didn't lack for anything, and when we did have an issue with the TV, Judy's response was immediate and the problem was taken care of. We have rented all over Taos, and this is our favorite place. We can't wait to come back!
This extremely clean guesthouse is absolutely quiet and on a private road. Beautiful wood and slate finishes...and also tastefully decorated. It is warm and inviting with pillows and warm blankets. It also has a large private rock patio. The friendly hosts have gone out of their way to make it a great place to stay. Only 5 minutes from downtown Taos.
All the comforts and conveniences for our 3-some made this casita a perfect choice for a winter holiday. Waking up to a White Christmas in the countryside was downright magical! Owners next door very helpful and responsive to our inquiries without intruding on our privacy. We definitely would return here on a future visit!
Thid was a wonderful new casita on a 10 acre homestead. Lovely in all respects and close to Taos. Enjoyed our hosts generous gifts of fruit from their orchards, cider from their press and sweet honey from their hives. A real 10.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the casita. Convenient location-short drive into town, quiet setting, beautiful gardens, serene environment. We had everything we needed to enjoy our too short visit to Taos. We’d love to return!
We enjoyed our stay. The owners Judy and Alden are very friendly and make you feel at home. The casita was cozy and everything we needed. Very easy and close drive to Taos town square. We weren’t there much but it was come and go as we wanted. The grounds are beautifully manicured. The bed was super comfortable and soft. We enjoyed our stay!
Thank you for your hospitality

Just Perfect
We had the most incredible, peaceful, relaxing stay at this wonderful casita. Judy could not have been nicer (also an incredible gardener). There was plenty of parking for out Tacoma. The grounds were beautiful including our private patio outside the bedroom. Great for a glass of wine. The bed was beyond comfortable. Which we so appreciated. We hope to be back next spring. We live in NM, but Taos is a special place. Have to add, the place was immaculate.

Family Friendly and Oh So Cozy!!
The property is a very short drive just outside of town and worth it! We came in just ahead of a snow storm and received 8 to 10 inches of snow overnight and the following day. With a 10 year old and a 3 year old there was plenty of quiet outdoor space for them to play for hours in the snow. We were quite cozy in the casita when the temperature dropped to -15! It is a beautiful home and we enjoyed feeling like we were at home. The views were absolutely stunning as the clouds cleared.
The road was plowed quickly and we were able to make our way to town. We were 20 minutes away from the local sledding hill and 20 minutes from Taos Ski Valley. We'd also planned to go to Angel Fire which is a 30 to 40 minutes drive, but the snow day kept us from making the drive.
Judy was very thoughtful and accommodating! There were a few extras in the casita that made it much easier with our 3 year old. Also had a few games, books and satellite tv the 10 year old enjoyed.
This is a top notch property with the nicest owners, and we would love to stay again sometime......when there's warmer weather!

You Should Stay Here!
We have stayed here twice in the last few years...and its always an amazing, beautiful, quiet, and peaceful place to stay. We have been to other hotels and motels in Taos, but this place keeps drawing us back. A beautiful house with just enough room. A comfortable bed and a well stocked kitchen are two must haves...and Judy has that down. A quick drive to the square, or the brewery...then back to the quiet side of town. Judy and her husband are two of the loveliest people you will ever meet...that's if you see them at all. They will give you space if you want it, or direct you to the apple orchard or raspberry patch. We will be back to "our Taos house" again as soon as we can. Thanks for a great vacation!

Vacation Paradise
One of the best places we've ever stayed. Close to the Square but still felt isolated.Quiet and peaceful, and Judy and her husband were perfect hosts. Loved the raspberries and plums. A great way to celebrate our anniversary.

Well appointed, well located guesthouse.
Wonderful roomy very up to date guesthouse. Owners live next door and are delightful. Good location right off Kit Carson, close to town and some good hikes. We picked apples, plums and grapes in the backyard.

Wonderful place to stay!!
The property was beautiful! It was more spacious than it appeared in the photos. Granite counters in the kitchen and bathroom were gorgeous. The house was warm when we arrived on a cold night in January!! It seemed to really stay a comfortable temperature throughout the day. This house was close enough to drive to ski to Sipapu or Taos. It was a fine distance to the square - about a mile. We ate at La Cueva(sp) which was an awesome find and also at the Taos brewery (amazing pizza) - although the kitchen at the house was furnished with all the necessities. The king bed was extremely comfortable and the boys said the pullout couch was as comfortable a one as they had ever slept on. Even though we stayed during the winter I could tell that the grounds would be gorgeous during the Spring and Summer.

Peace & Quite.... and Fun
We had a great time in our week at the casita. While hiking, rafting and sight-seeing were awesome, some of our favorite time was relaxing on the back patio in the morning. Judy and Alden made us feel welcome the entire time. We had fun visiting with them - and even some of their local friends!

We had a wonderful stay and the owners bent over backwards to make it that much better!
Mr. and Mrs. Cogburn were incredible hosts! They even took time out of their own busy days to share their knowledge with our kiddos about the history of the land and their projects they have going! The home is beautiful, clean and incredibly comfortable!

About the host
Hosted by Judy Cockburn
I am a 57 y/o happily married female. I retired from 30 years in the medical management field. We have two grown sons and a lovely new daughter in law. My husband has also now retired from being a Urologist here in town and we are both amateur gardeners. I found VRBO to be an exciting idea as I have been a traveler all of my life. Now, I can take my experiences and put them to good use! One tiny example is to have a good cup of coffee available upon arrival. You'll have a brand new Keurig and a nice variety of different types of coffee on standby. That would so make my day as a traveler!
Why they chose this property
We not only have mountain views and serenity. We are a three minute drive to town. It's really an unbeatable combination. We offer fruit from our tress, (when in season) which even Hilton can't match! Taos can be very rustic, but we offer a pet free, (low allergen) space that is brand new, but retains local charm.
What makes this property unique
The bedroom has a king sized bed with two types of pillows, for your comfort. It is done in turquois, blue and white to add to the relaxing nature of this property. The living room has a queen sleeper sofa and a 50" flat screen T.V. with Netflix. We also have a Pack 'N Play for our youngest guests. The front and back porches allow good reading areas and even rinsing out a cup affords a mountain view.
