Agree— I’m thankful for the amazing view and happy to share it with my guests. …a little slice of heaven on earth.
It is truly my pleasure to take good care of my guests, make them feel at home, and anticipate any need.
Thank you for your kind words.
Quiet spot in the middle of town with ease of convenience to all amenities just min away. Very clean and every option to enjoy the outdoors you could imagine. Jody was super responsive and made it very easy for us after a 15 hour drive with a one year old, to get settled in and relax. We cant wait to stay here in the summer.
AMAZING property! We really enjoyed everything about the place; there is nothing to be improved upon. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the valley. There were so many supplies provided (and appreciated!) Jody is a wonderful hostess and we hope to stay here again.
Every single need was anticipated. We didn’t want for a single thing. It’s like staying at your mom’s house. It was so nice to have cooking basics at the house. We cooked every meal in and had every single kitchen item we needed.
This was the best VRBO we have ever stayed in and we've stayed in a lot! The view was incredible and Jody thought of everything! The amenities inside and out were just what you'd need to have fun in Alaska and more! She even had bug spray! The hot tub was great to have and she even had s'mores stuff to make a fire outside. That was our favorite thing we did there! I hope we can come back to this VRBO sometime!

About the host
Hosted by Jody Carpenter
I’m an Alaskan at heart and have called Alaska home for more than 25 years. I raised my five children here, and after several years as a widow, God blessed me with another wonderful husband in 2024. Hosting Jody’s Lakehouse is something we truly enjoy.
My goal as a host is simple: I want you to feel right at home. The lakehouse is cozy, comfortable and thoughtfully stocked with many of the little things you may need during your stay—from pancake mix and extra blankets to binoculars and cotton balls.
It is genuinely a pleasure to open our home to travelers. I’m thankful for every guest who chooses to stay with us, and I hope Jody’s Lakehouse feels like a place where you can relax, feel cared for and enjoy your time in Alaska.
Why they chose this property
The property was originally homesteaded by the Peck family, my first husband's family in the 1920's. The original homestead cabin and some of the outbuildings, including the outhouse, are still on the property. Ernest and Velma Peck built the home to retire in. Unfortunately Ernest passed away before its completion. Velma lived in the house for about 20 years, enjoying the view, the birds, and the peace of the property. She passed the property on to me and my kids, as my husband had passed a few years earlier. The neighborhood has developed more in the recent years, but the property still feels secluded and peaceful at the end of the driveway.
What makes this property unique
Jody’s Lakehouse gives you the feeling of being tucked away in your own peaceful Alaska retreat, while still being just minutes from everything you may need.
The home sits on eight lakefront acres with beautiful views of Wasilla Lake and the surrounding mountains. You can spend the day kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming off the dock, walking the property, relaxing by the fire, or soaking in the year-round hot tub overlooking the water.
In winter, the experience changes completely. Guests can enjoy snowshoeing, sledding, walking out on the frozen lake, and watching for the northern lights on clear nights.
What makes the property especially unique is the combination of space and seclusion with such a convenient location. Even though the lakehouse feels private at the end of the driveway, groceries, restaurants, parks, the library and downtown Wasilla are all close by.
The property also has a rich Alaska family history, with the original homestead cabin and old outbuildings still on the grounds.
Inside, the lakehouse is cozy, comfortable and thoughtfully stocked so guests can settle in and feel at home. From lake equipment and family games to kitchen basics and breakfast supplies, we try to provide the little extras that make a stay easier and more enjoyable.
It’s a place where you can experience the beauty and quiet of Alaska without giving up the comforts and convenience of being close to town.
