Historic Morris Ave- Private Balcony & City Views!
This beautiful new downtown loft overlooks the city and cobblestone streets of Morris Avenue in a newly restored historic building with a modern industrial flare. Spacious interior with everything you need for a comfortable stay- a blend of bohemian and traditional style furnishings, full kitchen, bar seating, living area, bedroom with a large walk in closet and a large balcony overlooking the city!
You’ll have the whole place to yourselves! There is also a shared rooftop patio on the same floor overlooking Morris that guests are welcome to use! The building has a cool pedestrian walkway that runs along the lower level connecting Morris Avenue and 1st Avenue N. There are restaurants, art galleries and boutique shopping in the lower level of the building! There is both metered and unmetered street parking. The metered spots are free on nights and weekends. There is a lot behind the building with a gated arm for $4/day!
We live just a short distance away and are always available to answer questions or provide suggestions of favorite things to do around town!
Birmingham’s downtown has gone through quite the revitalization in the last decade or so. There’s still a lot of potential for growth but Birmingham has some world class restaurants, important history and cool opportunities for urban exploring, as well as some beautiful nature not far from the city! You’ll be in the heart of it all staying at Mercantile on Morris! The rotary trail runs from Railroad Park to Avondale and is a fun way to explore the city on bikes or by foot. The Civil Rights Institute, Birmingham Museum of Art and many restaurants, breweries and bars are also just a short distance from the condo.
Depending on where you’re heading during the day, you may or may not need a car. Public transportation in Birmingham isn’t the best but we do have buses that run downtown, Uber and Lyft are easy to use and scooters and bikes are available for rent all around downtown. Parking is either street parking or parking in a gated lot behind the building which costs $4/day.
Parking is usually very easy- we’ll send you photos and detailed instructions the morning of your stay! There is street parking on both sides of the building on 1st Ave N and Morris Avenue, as well as on 23rd St. There are some metered and some unmetered spots. Unmetered spots are always free and the metered spots are free nights after 5pm and weekends. There is also a parking lot with a gated arm behind the building off of Morris with parking for $8/day. No smoking of any kind (including weed) in the unit or building. The entire building is smoke-free. There will be a $500 cleaning fee for smoking of any kind in the home.
No parties, events or gatherings. Please be mindful of noise since it is a shared building. Children are welcome but the unit has not been child-proofed.
Our cleaners inventory before and after each guest. Guests will be charged for any missing items, including towels, blankets, silverware, etc.

The balcony view was beautiful and the apartment was cozy! We enjoyed the stay and the open line of communication between the host. The location was nice and walkable to things or a short uber ride. Overall it was a fantastic stay.
Very clean and cute. Great location! Great communication with owner. Had a minor issue, Contacted owner and it was fixed within minutes. We will definitely try to stay here again next year.
We lived the condo! So nicely decorated. Private balcony was so lovely. Dinner was literally on the first floor or the building. I definitely recommend! Donna
Our family of four spent a week in Birmingham for a baseball tournament and LOVED the apartment. The surrounding area was very trendy and the apartment was perfect for our stay. We unloaded our vehicle on 1st Street, but used the overnight parking on Morris (large lot along train tracks with parking gate/arm). A quick 30 second walk to the property and we felt secure with our new vehicle.
We stayed in this cute and lovely apartment while in Birmingham for the women’s Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games. Loved being able to walk every where we wanted to go. Multiple coffee locations close by. The owners were amazing to work with and took care of everything. Pull out couch was a little rough but worked for our needs. Definitely would recommend this place!!
This is the perfect place to stay--charming, interesting space in a converted old industrial building, convenient to museums and downtown and Railroad Park, among others, and within walking distance of great restaurants. We ditched the car and walked everywhere.
Wonderful stay! The balcony was so lovely to sit on the morning and evening. The bed was amazing. Everything felt comfortable and welcoming. Great restaurants and coffee within easy walking distance. Street parking or easy in/out paid parking across the street. Hosts were super responsive and helpful. We will definitely be back!
