About this property
Log Home with view of Denali and aurora, gas fireplace and toasty heated floors!
Whether traveling to Fairbanks under the summer's midnight sun or winter's aurora borealis - you will find this lovely setting an amazing base for your interior Alaskan vacation.
This beautiful 3,000 sqft natural log home was built almost entirely from the white spruce trees that grew on the property. The original owner cut, hand peeled, and allowed the logs to dry. He then contracted a premier log home builder to hand scribe each log to fit into place in 1990. The log detail is a thing of beauty. It has that rustic, homey feeling that only log homes can give. It is well appointed with Alaskan art and artifacts.
This premium log home offers views of the Alaska Range and Denali from the inside loft or while relaxing on the grand outdoor deck while grilling your favorite Alaskan seafood. During dark, clear nights enjoy stargazing and the excitement of the aurora borealis unobstructed by city lights from either inside or outside this authentic Alaskan home.
The large, open upstairs loft bedroom can sleep four. There is a queen-size bed and also a pair of twin beds. Please note the set of twin beds are accessed over a low log wall using three stairs on each side of the log wall. This offers some privacy from each of these adjoining sleeping spaces in the loft. This is a popular place to sleep and brings out the child in all my guests.
The two downstairs bedrooms in the walk out basement, each have queen-size beds. These downstairs rooms offer even more privacy as they are separated by a hallway that leads to an outside door leading to the beautiful lawn and lower patio. All the bedrooms have lovely views and are accessed via stairwells. There are blackout blinds in the sleeping areas. There is a bathroom conveniently located on all three levels. The laundry and shower are located on the ground floor bathroom. There is a half bath on the main floor for your convenience. The loft has a full bath with a jacuzzi tub/handheld shower in the upstairs loft bedroom. This bath area is open to the loft area and has a curtain for privacy.
There is a spacious eat-in kitchen and also a huge formal dining area that seats your group comfortably. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, many spices, and other basic essentials. Dutch oven, waffle iron, griddle, crock pot, mixer, blender, ice bucket, coffee makers(drip and Keurig), coffee presses, pressure cooker, InstaPot, seafood pot, and bakeware all lend you a hand while preparing those delicious meals. The stove is gas with four burners and a center griddle.
The sitting area near the gas fireplace is the most popular place to read, while the downstairs family room has a 60" curved "Smart" television available for your viewing pleasure. You can view your streaming accounts on the TV or stream on your personal devices in your room. Fastest WiFi available. There are also books and DVDs in the family room and games and puzzles available.
The keyless entry makes access convenient and there is no worry over lost keys or late arrival times.
Off street parking is plentiful and has headbolts for winter guests to plug in their vehicles when the weather drops to subzero temperatures. The drive is maintained and snow cleared. Front wheel drive or all wheel vehicles are fine. Some people prefer 4WD in the winter.
I believe the peace and tranquility that guests enjoy while staying at this vacation rental comes from the "groundedness" of the home being built from truly local logs. It can't get more organic than that!

About the host
Hosted by Kathy Alonzo
I arrived in Alaska in 1975. I have lived in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Delta Junction, Petersburg, and Arctic Circle Hot Springs Resort. Construction work took me around the state, but I found Fairbanks to be just the right size town for me. The people here are amazing! I have worked as an iron worker, retailer, cashier, florist, receptionist, teacher, and business owner. My talented children all live here in Fairbanks and I am now a proud grandmother of three! I have recently retired from teaching and turning all my attention to the constant care of my vacation rentals.
Why they chose this property
I bought this gorgeous natural log home because of the location. It is on a private dead end road and the house rests on three acres. The river valley and mountain views are so tranquil. Denali looms over the rest of the Alaska Range and is visible on clear days and especially clear at dawn and dusk.
There is an extensive trail system closeby, but I find it nice to just walk along the neighborhood dirt roads like so many of my friends.
The remoteness means dark streets and a better view of the aurora on clear, dark nights.
