Experience ‘The Magic Hour'; where Heaven meets Earth on the Hood Canal.....
A unique beach home with 2 en suite bedrooms in the main home & a separate bunk house with a queen bed & one set of bunk beds. The bunk house sits beside the main house and has a full bathroom. We have over 150 feet of private, waterfront property. The main house has a large fold out sofa bed in the living room as well.
In the late spring, summer and early fall, the salt water is warm and perfect for waterskiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or just diving in for a refreshing swim. You might see a seal, maybe two or three of them. Although dated, we have a large pickle ball court that doubles as a basketball court.Put a crab pot out & pick up oysters from our beach & you are all set for a delectable dinner. Winter time is cozy to cuddle up and read a good book, watch the various birds migrate, play cards or board games with family and friends. Alderbrook Resort is just 7 miles south of our home. They have a world class spa and delicious northwest cuisine. We have 4 single kayaks, 2 double kayaks, and 2 paddle boards for your use. I grew up on Bainbridge Island and spent many summers on the canal at my grandparents home. It is my slice of heaven out here. When the tide comes all the way up in the evenings; there is a period I call the "Magic Hour". It is Divine. Enjoy.

We’ve stayed all over Hood Canal over the years and this property has great, easy access to the canal. We were easily able to use the paddle boat we brought, swim, kayak. Owners were super nice, helpful and communicative. Very easy check-in/check-out.
We spent a wonderful week at this home. It is very clean, comfortable and well-stocked. Communication with the owners was great. We enjoyed the kayaks and pickleball court. The best part of the trip was sitting on the comfy outdoor chairs and swings reading, playing card games and just gazing at the beauty and splendor of Hood Canal. Thank you Mary and Tiffany for sharing your home with us!

This was a great place to celebrate my husbands 80th with family and friends. We had a week long celebration with folks coming and going and several overniters. The house is designed for just that kind of event. Large kitchen with plenty of utencils and small appliances, 3 bathrooms and a great beach for all the water toys provided. Wonderful hostess Tiffany is the best! mahalo from Hawaii!
This is the 3rd times we stay at this home, WE LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. The property is well kept, the owners is wonderful and very thoughtful. The house has amazing view of the canal from every room and is it very peaceful. The owner stock the home with most amenities you need for a cozy stay. We uses this property as an annual family get together hanging out and enjoying each other. We already talk about the next time we return to the house. Thank you so much!

Thank you for such a wonderful review. We hope to see you back in the future.
3 generation Family of 9. Plenty of room to spread out. Kayaks were a hit. Views are what this house is all about. Beautiful from the main house bedrooms and the living room have tall windows to enjoy the view. Enjoyed our time together here.
Never had communication needed with manger so can’t really rate that.
My mom grew up coming to Hood Canal, and we wanted to come back and celebrate her there. This property is phenomenal. There’s so much to do to enjoy all Hood Canal has to offer. Our favorite activities were canoeing, paddle boarding, and clamming! The views from the home are incredible and it was a perfect stay overall.
We did have a little hiccup with the garbage disposal, but Tiffany was so responsive we got everything taken care of right away. Our family plans to come back here again. I highly, highly recommend this beautiful home.

We loved our stay in this house and really wish it could have been longer. The house was comfortable and roomy with space for our family of 7. The kids loved having their own place in the detached bunk house. We really enjoyed being right by the water with easy access to the kayaks and paddle boards Tiffany and Mary left for us to use. We also discovered a love for pickle ball. The court in front of the house was great! Tiffany was also very responsive to any issues that arose during our stay.

Krista,
Thank you! We hope to see you back in the future!
We spent a weekend with close friends and family and had a great time. The place was clean and when we needed help with something the owner was responsive.
The kids had an amazing time looking for shells and baby crabs on the beach. The adults enjoyed watching seals, kayaking and taking in the fresh air during high tide. Plenty of room in the main house that we didn't even have to use the separate unit. Thank you for an amazing time! 😊

Thank you for such a beautiful review. We hope to see you back in the future!
We came here in January and had so much fun that we had to come back to see what it was like in the summer. Did not disappoint! Having access to kayaks is a plus especially with younger kids. The weather was decent most of the time, with one day being spectacular. The sunsets are beautiful, especially being right on the water. We could see the asteroid belt and lots of stars at night. Did miss having a fire this time around, but we brought a propane fire place to substitute. Overall a great experience in both the winter and summer!
The hostesses were very friendly and helpful. We had several day trips and cancelled two of them to make more time at the house. We had fun diving for sand dollars, looking for oysters and digging for clams. The kids loved the kayaks, canoe and paddle boards. The sunset was pretty every night. We saw sea otters and seals. The house is ten minutes from groceries and gas. You want to have water shoes as it is a rocky beach, but we knew that from the pictures. We really loved Magic Hour!

Scott & Family,
We so enjoyed having you & your family @ the property. It is so special to us, specially the ‘magic hours’.
We hope to see you back in the future, but I know we are far from where you live!
We are grateful we could show you our ‘Slice of Heaven ‘ from the Pacific Northwest’

We were all pleasantly surprised as the photos are only a glimpse into this wonderful home. We had 6 adult children and were all comfortably set up. The large kitchen enticed us to sit and gather after our meals. The back had a truly stunning view of the sound, provided easy access to swimming and kayaking and the sunsets were breathtaking! Best surprise was the pickle ball court on the driveway and our family fun just sitting around watching and playing the game. No need to leave the property! Thank you for making our 32nd feel like an island escape !

Our extended families had a wonderful time staying at this wonderful home on the shores of Hood Canal. We were constantly mesmerized by the beauty, solitude and natural bounties that made this home so special. We were so thankful for the owners' generosity in providing us with two paddleboards, three kyaks, four flotation noodles, pickleball equipment, wood for the firepit, mesquite for the webber kettle and the green egg. The home was perfect for hanging out, playing games, eating together as a family outside, making s'mores by the fire, relaxing on the lounge chairs counting the stairs and discovering the wonders of Hood Canal. Our hosts Mary and Tiffany were wonderful - very responsive throughout the whole process. We are so grateful to have had the experience of staying at a very special home. Thank you!
Our family spent a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in this lovely house. The view was amazing and the sunsets absolutely gorgeous.
We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the house and the grounds were, it looks even better than on the pictures. We had a lot of space to chill, cook and hang out. The house is really well stocked and we found everything we needed, including lovely plates and glasses which is always a nice to have for a holiday weekend :-). You can pick oysters right on the beach outside the house and baked them for dinner, it was delicious!
The pickle ball court was a nice surprise too and we had fun playing as a family. We would love to go back in the spring or summer to enjoy the water and chill on the back porch with the firepit going as the November weather did not really allow us to do that.
Thank you Tiffany and Mary for sharing your home and being extremely gracious hosts.

We love this beach home on Hood Canal. We stayed with our family last year and with friends this year. It is the perfect location and size to accommodate 6 adults comfortably and 10 if you know each other well. There are 3 totally separate spaces for sleeping that include a bathroom and conveniently placed outside doors. The bedrooms have delightful beachy views which are close enough to the shore to hear the waves lapping at night and to be bathed in sunlight during the day. There is a lovely patio right out the living room and bedroom doors with a picnic table and a large swing to gaze at the beach and blue shimmering water below or the stars at night. A few steps down from this patio area is an amazing bulkhead which allows multiple groups to visit comfortably in Adirondack chairs or cook oysters and s'mores over a firepit. This location cannot be beat for swimming or boating. It is easy to gradually enter the warm salt water of Hood Canal. My seventy-plus years old friends and I swam throughout the afternoon and after dinner into the evening. The property looks west towards the Olympic Mountains, so the sunset is truly beautiful reminding one memories and the memories being made.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely family cabin. There is plenty of space to spread out and relax. The layout is ideal, with the main bedrooms on opposite ends of the big house and the third bedroom off the detached garage, plus two tiers of outdoor seating (one on the patio outside the slider and the other on the bulkhead). The kitchen has lots of counter space and room for multiple people to prepare food, and the living room and library/game table nook is a cozy space at night. We spent a lot of time in the water, using the multiple kayaks and paddleboards available in the garage and swimming to the raft (which is marked with the cabin owners' names and phone number, so I don't know how the previous guest got the impression that it was off limits).
When I visit a place to which I hope to return, I always make a list of things I would bring next time. Here is that list for this house:
-- Extra patio/camp chairs -- there are multiple outdoor seating areas and it is nice to not have to move the chairs supplied from spot to spot
-- Bath mat/rug -- the bunkhouse bathroom doesn't have one and the floor can get slippery without it.
-- Extra firewood for the fire pit on the bulkhead -- the house comes with one-night's supply.
-- Beach towels
Thank you so much for making this spot available to us!

Disliked: Listing accuracy
5 Star Beach, 2 Star Accommodation
"Elegant 3 bedroom estate" is how this listing starts out but buyer beware; it is a far cry from "elegant" or an "estate." If your idea of "elegant" is smelling the septic system every morning and night, then by all means book this rental. And "estate" is a stretch...it's a dated 2 bedroom home with a bunkhouse. There is a grassy area, which the kids did enjoy playing on but the very sketchy pickle ball court with cracked/protruding areas would be a safety hazard if you were brave enough to use it.
Some amenities listed inaccurately were:
1) Hot tub (spa/whirlpool) - NONE
2) A/C in the main home's bedrooms - only in 1 bedroom (NOTE: 87 degrees when we stayed so sleeping comfortably was important)
4) Shampoo - one bottle in one bathroom, not adequate
5) Hairdryer - one for the entire house/bunkhouse, not adequate
6) Children's highchair, dishes & utensils - NONE
The kitchen was totally unorganized, a scavenger hunt just trying to find anything. And to make cooking easier for your guests, please provide some large cooking spoons.
The rugs in the bunkhouse bathroom were disgusting and moldy; need to be replaced.
Plus we found out the dishwasher was not working AFTER our arrival; very poor communication on the owner's part.
Of course, the best part of the house was the beach and the view; but isn't this the case with most of the homes along Hood Canal? It's a very beautiful area of Washington and the reason we return, but returning to this home will not happen.

Hello Marcia,
I apologize you were not satisfied with your stay. We will buy utensils for children, a high chair and a play and pack.
We now have air conditioning installed.
The dishwasher broke right before your check in. We didn’t have time to get a new one installed before your arrival. If you would like to return, I will give you 2 nights free of charge and will make sure we have more cooking spoons/utensils and 2 more hairdryers in the home.
The listing should not have reflected that we had a hot tub. If it does that was a mistake and I will change that. Most importantly, we have fixed the septic issue.
I feel blessed to own this property; as I have many memories of my childhood here.

Great Family Vacation ....
Our family of 6 adults and 2 grandchildren (4 yrs and 1 yr) along with 3 dogs spent 6 absolutely wonderful days on the shores of the Hood Canal.
The house provided ALL the necessary amenities needed to make the stay most pleasurable.Very clean, well organized! (the kitchen stove did cause some concern
having been very well used over time ...but it "got the job done!) We ate oysters until our
"eyes crossed"!
We loved the ambiance of the home provided by its age, decor...extremely welcoming
and cozy! The view, the beach, the great weather and superb location all played a great part in making our stay so memorable
The two little ones love spending time on the beach finding all sorts of treasures...rocks, shells, driftwood etc. The owners of the home who live next door were in residence at the time.. the oldest daughter showed our 4 year old how to paint rocks...FUN!!
While there such HOT weather but...when evening tide came in late afternoon...over those
hot beach rocks...amazing ...like swimming in a bath tub. We did spend time in the
water.
The family loved having the use of the paddle boards and kayaks. We brought along our
own boat 9(which anchored out front).. so did a lot of tubing and cruising the gorgeous Canal.
The most enjoyable time was spent sitting around together out on the front deck..talking,
laughing...just plain relaxing. At night seals would come up on the raft out front providing entertainment for all...so fun to watch.! Didn't see much in the way of sunsets due to "haze" from BC forest fires...view still was amazing!
Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us....allowing us to make many a family
memory!!

Thank you Donna for such a beautiful review on our property! 🙏
Looking out on the Hood canal each day was so lovely, so calming, so peaceful. The house was beautiful with room for all nine of us to sleep, eat, and play. Plenty of water craft and personal flotation devices. I would have liked more protection from the later afternoon/evening sun. More umbrellas, a roll-out awning? The kitchen was very well supplied. Everything was clean and functional.

About the host
Hosted by tiffany or mary
I grew up on Bainbridge Island and spent many summers at my grandparents home on the canal. My family and I live in Reno, Nevada. We have two daughters, 14 and 17 years old. We own the beach house next door to this property as well. My mom lives there full time and is the property manager. If you have any questions they are available to help!
I really enjoying hosting. It is such a joy to see guests having so much fun here. Jumping off and on the raft, kayaking, paddle boarding, or just hanging out on the bulkhead with a fire going making s'mores.
Why they chose this property
This property is very special. My grandparents purchased the house next door when my mom was 7 years old. I spent my summers playing pickelball, flashlight tag, waterskiing, swimming, catching crab, painting rocks and picking up sand dollars at low tide. . I wanted our children to experience the joys on the canal which i was fortunate to have.
What makes this property unique
What makes our property unique is:
1. This home is unique in that you feel like your are staying in a house boat; as it sits so close to the water. 2. We have one of the first pickleball courts in the Northwest! The sport was invented on Bainbridge Island, WA. .where I grew up!
