Amazing Location just a 10 minute boat ride from Kenora. This IS an island so you do need to own a boat or rent one from one of the marinas. Water taxi service is also an option if you don't own your own boat. It is a basic cottage. Built in 1980. Large Screened in Porch. 6 bedrooms. Kitchen appliances. Barbeque. Wood stove in living room for rainy days. Firepit. Large dock perfect for suntanning/fishing. Perfect for a large group with kids and dogs who don't mind roughing it. Our cottage is old and very basic. (Not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination.) However the fishing is great and the whole island is yours for your stay. Totally Private! Our third time returning to Janet’s property of course did not disappoint! We experienced a very wide range of weather from 8 degrees to 40 degrees! Our dogs loved exploring the island and swimming off the dock. We visited the farmers market on Wednesday morning, boated in for dinner at the Boathouse restaurant, caught tons of fish, and most importantly relaxed! The wildlife was impeccable, we saw bear, deer, loons, eagles, pelicans and more!! We will be back to this most perfect camp in Kenora :)

Family vacation week
We had stayed here before, about 6 years ago. We remember the cabin being pretty basic but were disappointed with a few things this time around.
The dock had been damaged in the high waters the year prior, as many properties. After we booked, the owner told us it was scheduled to be replaced in fall. The dock as it exists currently was uneven and unsafe. It was tilted to the side and was unsteady to walk on.
The water system was described as sensitive, but we were unable to consistently flush the toilet, use water to wash dishes, or shower. A plumber was sent to fix the problem a couple days before we checked out.
Although we knew the cabin was basic, the cleanliness was subpar. There were dusty spiderwebs and dead bugs in the windows and screens and ceilings. Some TLC and a good cleaning would make the cabin feel more comfortable.
We did enjoy the comfortable beds and clean linens, the location of the property and being at the lake in general. The owner was easily accessible by text. Some extra effort into cleaning, having a proper water system, and a safe dock would make this property more user friendly.

1: Yes, the docks are damaged. I ordered 2 new floating sections and an entirely new dock on the far side of the island in September 2022. My promised install date of July 2023 has now been delayed til June 2024. I did not cause the high water which damaged my docks and I can't make the repairs happen any sooner than Docks and Lifts can schedule me.
2: The septic system works as it should. I request that guests not flush excess toilet paper, baby wipes, and feminine hygiene products. My guest messaged me saying they hadn't been able to flush, do dishes, or shower for two days. I immediately phoned my plumber. He came early the next morning and cleared a "blockage". The bill for his prompt service visit was $450. Obviously something was flushed and my guests knew that and tried for two days to fix it themselves. What other reason could there be for not immediately asking for help?
3: Subpar cleanliness. My new cleaners were not doing as thorough a job as I would have liked and as my guests have a right to expect. As I do not live in Ontario, I appreciated those guests who told me about the problem. The cleaners have greatly improved their efforts.
