A little bit more about the property….Sea Castles is a gated apartment community consisting of studio, 1-, and 2-bedroom privately owned apartments located on Jamaica’s Gold Coast in Montego Bay. There is a pool, beach, playground, and poolside bar on the property for your enjoyment. Each suite is self-catering and hosts a kitchen, air-conditioning, cable TV., and most also include sofa bed (or daybed) for add'l guests or children. For short stays, we provide fresh towels and linen. However housekeeping, a cook & internet are available at an additional per diem cost. Wifi is Free
Longer term stays are charged a base rental rate + electric (electric is billed at cost: $0.65kwh).
Katie, our hostess, can be reached on her local cell number that will be given once confirmed. She is also on What's app at the same number and is able to respond to any questions that arise.
Please note the following important points:
1. Sea castles is not a hotel, so guests will not find the services typically available at hotels and resorts.
2. Our address is: Sea castles Apartments, Rose hall P.O., Rose hall, St James, Jamaica. You can use this on customs forms.
3. Check in time is 3pm, and check out time is 11am - just let us know if you need consideration.
4. Please bring your own beach towels.
Sea castles was built in 1990. Guests will note that over the years the exterior of the buildings have been weathering. However, we ensure the inside of our suites are lovely, modern, comfortable and cool and that 24 hour security is provided. A walk through the property still reveals a timeless charm. You will enjoy the company of a mix of guests including both local Jamaican residents and international owners and guests who frequent Sea Castles regularly. We have earned great online reviews due to the friendly staff and honest description of the property!
Our private, natural beach is accessible from the property, down the stairway from the pool. The beach is frequented by patroners, windsurfers and local fishermen but is largely unmaintained, and has some grassy areas. We cannot guarantee the maintenance of and water supply fall outside of our locus of control.
Some guests venture the 15-minute drive into town to patronize the world-class pristine Doctor’s Cave beach, or Aqua sol Beach Park. Others take the 1hr drive west to Negril while some guests opt to visit Ocho Rios which is 1 hr and 15 minutes to the East of our property. The pool maintenance and the water supply fall under the scope of the condo property management board as do the beach areas, grounds, and exterior walls on the complex. We do however alert you if there are any issues and always offer assistance wherever possible.
We are located next to the Hilton Resort which is just 15 minutes east of Sangster's Int'l airport. We are a 7 minute drive to nearby shopping centre Whitter Village, where you can do grocery shopping at the Progressive Supermarket or Blue Diamond groceries. "Coffee N Cream Cafe" are located a few doors left of Progressive Supermarket where you can enjoy an American-Jamaican meal and drinks. For authentic Jamaica jerk meals, visit "Scotchies Boston Jerk Centre" located 5 minutes to the west of us. We are a 5-minute drive east to local beach-side Jamaican restaurants including “Father Bull”, “Chillout Hut” and the “Drunken Squid”, where you can dine on the waterfront in a quaint, laid back atmosphere.
Taxis (local transportation) run frequently past our entrance, and cost less than $2US per person per trip into town or to the nearby shopping centres. If you decide to take a local taxi, these are the ones marked by a red colored licensed plate. Note these are “shared” public taxis. They may often try to request tourists pay a higher price per trip, upwards of $15 – in these cases, a polite, firm recount of the fare prior to entering the vehicle is helpful to gain the local price. Note, after midnight all fares attract a premium of double the normal fare. If you need assistance with arranging transportation, Katie along with security guards can often assist you, or provide you with a number to call an affordable private taxi.
We can arrange airport transfere for you at a reasonable cost. We are also able to recommend and arrange rides to Negril or Ocho Rios through our familiar drivers.
There is plenty of parking here, so if you are comfortable to drive on the left hand side of the road. We would suggest that you rent a car . We have good roads in Mo-Bay and on the coast.
We recommend that all guests procure travel insurance, and include this in on our rental lease accompanying your booking confirmation as any accident or loss is not covered by the property. Though this is not mandated, it is advised for your own safe guard.
One more thing.. Jamaica is known for sunny weather and it can get quite hot. What most guests do not know is that the cost of electric is 8 times the cost in Canada and the US. We know all guests will utilize the air conditioning units, however we are asking for a commitment to turn off a.c.'s when leaving the apartment and to ensure windows and doors are closed when a.c. is in use. Based on the extremely high cost of electric here, and the low nightly rates of our units, each guests are ask to commitment to doing so.
Just one air conditioning unit can cost us over $20/US per day! Please respond to this email indicating your commitment to helping us conserve energy in Jamaica!
