“Seaside Glee” at 48 Beach Club Villa

Beach Nourishment Notice – Isle of Palms
Like all barrier islands, the Isle of Palms experiences natural cycles of sand accumulation and erosion. While most of our beach remains healthy, two specific areas in Wild Dunes are showing signs of significant erosion.
• North Hot Spot: In front of the Ocean Club and Seascape communities, located at the northern tip of the island.
• South Hot Spot: Along Dunecrest Lane, Beachwood East, and Seagrove Villa.
To address these concerns, the City of Isle of Palms will begin an emergency beach nourishment project on April 10. The project involves relocating sand from a sandbar located in front of the Property Owners Beach House to these erosion-prone areas.
Work can only be conducted during low tide, when the sandbar is accessible. Below is the tentative schedule:
• April 10–24: Nourishment of the South Hot Spot
• April 24–May 8: Nourishment of the North Hot Spot
• May 8–22: Return to the South Hot Spot for additional nourishment
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to protect and preserve our beaches.
For updates, please visit the City of Isle of Palms.

Needs alot of TLC

This is the first home we have rented from Homeaway that we were disappointed in upon arrival. The house is in very much need of TLC. Upon entering the house it smelled like moth balls. We found the floors not to be cleaned, windows very dirty, blinds broken. Furniture on deck was broken, cushions ripped, railing with nails sticking out, trash in the yard. My dog kept jumping on the couch sniffing which we couldn't figure out why until I reached into the cushion and found a dog treat. Lifted up all the cushions and found a total of 5 treats and covered in crumbs. The furniture is in need of being replace even a wicker chair was held together with cable wire. Both bathroom showers do not drain well so you feel like you have taken a bath by the time you are done. It is a shame the house is in such bad shape because the location is great. The view is nice in spite of the houses in front of it. As mentioned in other reviews the master is on the 2nd floor and you must go up metal spiral stairs. It is very hard to get large luggage up. You also must be careful not to scratch yourself because some of the rubber is missing. I am grateful that the owner is willing to be pet friendly. But I have stayed at other pet friendly homes which were clean, beautifully decorated and well maintained. For what the owner charges in rental fees he should give the house some badly needed TLC. We hope to return to Charleston and stay on Follys beach. Unfortunately I would not choose to stay at this house again or can recommend renting the house until the owner makes some major improvements.

Awesome home with a great location!

My husband and I stayed at this home with our two dogs for a week getaway. We loved the home and found that it was well stocked with everything that we needed for the week. We had the beach to ourselves each day and couldn't have asked for a better vacation. We would start each morning outside on the deck with a cup of coffee while we watched the dolphins play. I enjoyed being able to see the container ships and cruise ships pulling in and out of Charleston right from the beach and deck. The home was updated, spacious and very clean. The fenced in yard was an added bonus to allow our dogs time outside in a safe environment. We can't wait to go back next summer!

Great house and location

We have stayed on Folly many times but this was by far the best house ever. Nice lay out and clean and the views and beach access were fantastic. Hope to return next summer.

Great pet friendly ocean front house on Folly

This house is spacious and comfortable. We have four in our family (including two teenagers) and took our two small/med sized dogs and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We also had friends over (5 in their family, including 3 teenagers) one night for dinner and we were not crowded at all. The owner was very easily accessible and very nice and was quick to answer any questions we may have had. The power went out on the whole Island one evening and she was very helpful and quick on giving us details of what was going on and when to expect the power to be on and she followed up with us to make sure the power was on when it was supposed to be. As per one other review, at high tide there is no beach. Folly has a bad erosion problem, but it does not last long and if you like being in the water it shouldn't be a problem. After all as the sign on Center Street says, "Relax, Slow Down, It's Folly!" We had a canopy on the beach as far back as we could go and just sat and let the waves come in. The waves are really great to ride as they come in at high tide. It's not that big of a deal just keep an eye on the tide tables to know how to work around high tide. One other issue that could be a problem for an elderly person is the spiral staircase to the second floor master bedroom and bath, if they were planning on staying up there. But the two bedrooms and bathroom downstairs would be a great alternative, if that became a problem. The window unit in the upstairs bedroom worked great to keep it cool up there. We look forward to our next stay at this great house!!

Great Place Great Location!

We had a wonderful time this year at Folly and a big part to that was this house. We had friends over one evening and there was plenty of room for our guest and all the kitchen equipment we needed. Great layout and great views of the ocean. I highly recommend this house and hope to stay here again. The owner is very nice and easy to reach.

Great stay at Folly!!!

First let me start with saying the air condition works well and we had a very hot week. We did have to use the window unit upstairs, but it worked great. I was a little nervouse from another review, because I like it cold. We found the house to be very clean, it also had a big dinning room table, that was nice when we had company over. The owner was easy to call with any questions. There is an erosion problem at Folly, so at high tide there is not a lot of beach, but it only lasted a couple of hours a day. Watching the dolphins that close really excited the kids. All in all this house provides everything you need for a relaxing, fun vacation.

Clean, comfortable

We had an enjoyable ladies weekend here! Very close to beach. We loved watching dolphins swimming south in the evening . The house had everything that was needed. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Spiral staircase was neat but a little challenge to navigate with luggage. The owner was very nice and excellent at communicating via email. Hope to stay here again soon!

Vacation in May

Very close to the beach! In fact, at high tide there is no beach! The house was only not adequately suited for more than 4 people as far as the kitchen goes. Not enough plates etc and only one wine glass. The master bedroom would be very hot during the summer as the central air does not reach this area and the window unit is small. To reach the master bedroom. one has to navigate the spiral starcase. The showers could have been cleaner as there was mildew. Overall stay was just ok and probably will not return to this house.
