This wonderful western home offers a warm country feel and a great mountain energy. The downstairs offers so many possibilities. There is a full kitchen fully stocked with all you need to cook, bake and enjoy preparing meals. There is a large, homey family space which can be used as two separate areas for one group to play cabin games, while others curl up in front of the wood burning stove and enjoy the over-sized comfortable leather couches and a good movie on the TV. There is a big master bedroom with a separate bath, allowing you to retire in comfort. Two more bedrooms offer additional sleeping space, while sharing a separate family room. These bedrooms, an accompanying bathroom and small living room can be closed off behind a dividing door, to allow privacy and the separate 2-bedroom suite.

Upstairs leads to even more space and delights. There is another full kitchen attached to a family room with a wood burning stove/fireplace and an opening couch. Connected to this room is one additional two bedrooms with their own bathroom.

Through the French doors you find another great living room which leads to two individual suites boasting their own bathrooms, private entrances, and access to all the fabulous decks on the back of the home.

This wonderful log trimmed home backs up to over 20 acres of wooded space allowing for walks, hikes, meditation and bird watching. The sounds, views and smells of the country surround and entice you to venture out into a great exploration of Julian's mountain wilderness. Perfect for family reunions, group retreats, corporate getaways, or just a little time with your family. There is a large propane grill inviting all to gather round and picnic, feast, or entertain. Most bedrooms and living rooms open onto decks allowing for enjoyment of the views and mountain air at any time of day or night. Completely private and natural.

I am available for anything you need but I like to give my guests the privacy that they deserve. I do reside in the property; however, I am invisible during all guest stays.

This home is dog friendly with prior approval as well as a minimum $100 pet fee. We apologize we do not allow cats.

Peaceful cozy cabin that accommodates big families comfortably

I booked this property for my annual family vacation. We have 7 family units, each with children and this property made it comfortable for each of us. Most rooms have their own dedicated bathroom and shower which offers privacy and hassle free mornings. We especially enjoyed the large woodsy backyard and large deck. Both settings offered a serene sitting area and the kids had endless fun outdoors. Will book again for sure.

The 1st look at this rustic huge home was WOW!! Amazing. Right off the road 4 miles up from Julian. Just enough space for celebrating my birthday with all my family..9 adults and 11 grandchildren.. and did they love the 2 story spacious rooms and playing outdoors. There was a pool table, ping pong table, piano, fooz ball to keep everyone playing together. With 2 kitchens and plenty of cook ware our 5 families could keep their food and shared cooking for all of us. The home is lovely almost an antique museum with so many interesting objects and pictures around. We even got to see a herd of wild turkeys go thru the back yard. each family had their own space and we all enjoyed our time here. Plenty of seating, clean and nice soap in all the bathrooms. Communication was great... only we never did find the Welcome Book, but all the needed instructions were thru Vrbo. With all the towels and extra bedding.. everyone was happy and cozy. Had a thunderstorm Saturday night which was nice and much needed rain. Sunday was beautiful!! Weather was great thuys weekend. Exploring and being in nature was amazing. Thank you for hosting and hope to come back.

Out of town family wedding

Wonderful place for our family to congregate and stay for a weekend while we attended a wedding nearby. We had plenty of space to be together and to spread out. We played card games, pool, and other table games, visited outside in the deck and had a wonderful time.

Always amazing

We had another amazing retreat at the wagon wheel this weekend! The house was perfect for us as always. Plenty of room for everyone and anything we needed. The weather was beautiful and the grounds surrounding the house really make it feel like a true retreat. Thank you again Barb for all your help and we will see you next year!

Big wonderful house for a big group

A lovely, sprawling, house with a lot of great hangout spaces. The cowboy theme extends from the scenery to the decorations to the plates and bowls in the cupboards. Highly recommend, with the one caveat that depending on the makeup of your group "sleeps 30" might be a slight exaggeration, and we did end up with on or two people sleeping on couches, though that was not a dealbreaker for us. Would absolutely rent again.

Great for larger groups

This is a very large, peaceful, and welcoming space for gatherings of multiple families. Two kitchens allow for different kinds of meal prep at the same time which was useful for our group of 19. There are effectively three living rooms in which to sit, read or play games/watch TV. We were especially grateful for the 4-5 separated bedroom areas where different families/groups of people could be somewhat isolated from others, while still being in the same location. The fireplace stoves are pretty to watch as the fire burns and you enjoy each other's company. There are a few things that are a bit worn/tired, but nothing kept us from having a good time with our friends with beautiful views of the surrounding oak forest out the windows.

Need lots of rooms and lots of space? Consider this place!

Our family of 18 (proud grandparents, three sons with spouses and 10 grandchildren) had a wonderful five days in this retreat. There was plenty of room to spread out! We had card games, tv watching and homework getting done without a problem. The two kitchens were great. We were able to locate most everything we needed to make our meals. Plenty of parking space is so helpful. Our family enjoyed the mountain cabin feel of this place-not brand new but very doable. First risers got the hot showers. If you hang your clothes- bring hangers. Management was helpful and ready to answer any questions. All in all, this was a great location for our retreat!

A reasonable spacious large family retreat

The house needs some upgrades and lots of cleaning. It is a very spacious place with lots of rooms and bathrooms and privacy section. It has lots of play area with Pool table, Fuse ball, Table tennis and Badminton rackets etc. We were initially 22 people then added one more family and total of 12 adults and 14 children stayed at the house. I like to point out some issues with the property Upstairs: 1. Upstairs Burners did not work. 2. Upstairs refrigerator took long time to cool 3. There was no hot water upstairs, slightly warm if any. Downstairs: We decided to take the downstairs on arrival and the owner gave the access with a minimal additional cost. However, 1. The whole downstairs was not very clean. The throw in Master bedroom was ripped. and window curtains were temporary and makeshift type. There was spider web in the room. 2. Bathroom toilet seat had stains and orange water line as if it had not been cleaned for long time Outside: 1. Front yard needs cleaning as well as back to make it look nice and tidy. 2. The owner had someone clean the Jacuzzi the day we arrived however it was not usable during our stay as water looked light green and foamy with brown line despite continuous run for few hours.

Great for large group, but description needs updating

We all had a good time and overall it was a lovely space! Disappointed in the rooms and bathrooms not matching the description on the website or the house map sent to us, but we made due after initial choosing of rooms (one couple had to do twin beds, and luckily another pair were two single women who wanted twins). I would not recommend going above the number of actual bed spaces which is 16 (8 people upstairs and 8 downstairs) unless people are good with couches in living rooms.Lots of kitchen supplies, coffee, filters and 2 coffee makers is nice. Bring your own hair dryer. Check all beds and bathrooms for sheets under the comforter well before bedtime just in case. And let them know if you need more than one towel per guest (like for your hair).We really enjoyed the back patio and living area to gather as a large group. Contact the host by calling right away if needed - phone number was wrong on the welcome sheet and I was texting, so I didn't know they wrote it down wrong and nobody was getting my texts, made for a frustrating start. Thank you for eventually accommodating us with our concerns!

Another Wonderful Stay

This past Christmas in Julian was magical. It was the 1st time that we as a family have woken up together on Christmas morning in over 20 years! The kids had a tree to decorate together and the two kitchens allowed for lots of food and special preparation for Santa's cookies. Every request was responded to in 15 minutes! Thank you for another special holiday celebration space with the family. We loved the upgrades from last year!

The perfect place, as always

We have stayed at the Wagon Wheel every year for well over a decade. It is the perfect place for our gymnastics team retreat and there is plenty of room for everyone. Barb and Samantha are always super responsive if we ever need anything. We love staying at "our" house!

Great Family Rental

So much space to spread out. Has a country/western theme through out the house. Plenty of clean linens. Most beds are comfortable. (Twins could use an upgrade). But we always have a great time at this home. There is even a Christmas Tree with ornaments in a box, so the kids could decorate/redecorate the tree. Highly recommend home for large groups.

Julian Getaway

We used this property for our church leadership retreat, and it worked out great. There was plenty of room both upstairs and down. I loved how so many rooms had individual bathrooms. The host was extremely communicative, friendly and professional. We saw several deer walk past the house each day we were there, and the fresh air of Julian is always a treat. Great place for a larger group getaway, or an intimate getaway for a smaller few.

Good for large groups.

Great to have two kitchens. And plenty of room for different activities in different areas of the house. Bring your own knives if you want them sharp. And don’t plan on any spices or cooking supplies, other than pots and pans. You will have to hunt for some light switches, so read the notes on the walls that give instructions.

Marcy’s Retirement Party

Very fun place! The pool table and foos ball table were great additions. I liked that many of the bedrooms had their own bathroom and were for a couple (instead of multiple beds in one room). However, the room that slept 5 came in handy for our single guests. Two kitchens was a wonderful feature. I was able to serve the breakfast and have another kitchen for the party and dinner food. There was plenty of parking and the grounds were pleasant.
