The Lodgings at Roaring River Vineyards, LLC (RRV) is the hidden gem in the NC mountains. Located just two miles from Stone Mountain State Park (NC), in the Yadkin Valley Wine Appellation in the heart of NC Wine Country in the Blue Ridge mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway.

We will be open year-round for our vacation rentals and wine-tasting room. The outdoor event venue will be open from April 15 through October 31st.

The main lodge has three rental units: Aspen & Birch (both on the first floor) and Cedar (on the 2nd and 3rd floors).
Aspen (437203)/ Birch (437950) are 1-room units (1 bedroom with office area, 1 bathroom with tub and shower, a large closet, and an open room that holds the living room and dinette area, fully equipped in-suite full-size kitchen. The kitchen has standard-size SS appliances and the necessary equipment to make meal preparation a cinch even for the gourmet cooks among us! The rustic décor is elegant and upscale - sure to please. All units come with WIFI, Roku streaming TV Channels, and an outdoor grill.
The covered patio has a bistro dining set and an outdoor sitting area. Imagine yourself having a candlelight dinner or sipping a glass of wine while admiring the beautiful mountain vistas and listening to the sounds of the Roaring River as it flows by just a few feet away from you. Yes, it is that close! It just does not get better than that!
The amenities are so numerous that this vineyard is becoming a destination in and of itself. There is a private beach, a swimming hole, and private fishing on the river and in the ponds. There is also bow-hunting in season. We have a spa building with a hot tub, dining table, chairs, and two lounge chairs, that connect to the rental unit with a covered breezeway. There are several lawn games such as Bocce Ball, Corn Hole Toss, Horseshoe Pits, and Croquet. Another fun activity is to picnic amongst the grapevines, or for that matter, anywhere on the 50-acre vineyard estate.

Anniversary
Would not hesitate to book again. Would recommend a step to get in and out of bed and a handicap railing for shower.

New Year Getaway
Great place for quiet weekend getaway. Food at Restaurant was just okay. Would have liked to use hot tub but sign stated for owners use only. Heater was a little noisy.

Great spot but…
This was our second stay here after a few years. The property has a great spot with a restaurant terrace and lodging that overlooks the river. The restaurant has good food. The wine flight servings are abysmally small. The bottled wine is overpriced. The shared Aspen-Birch walls are too thin with loud neighbors. Lamps and other furnishings were dusty and had cobwebs. The shower curtain rod was rusty. Overall, spending time away in a beautiful location with access to nearby hikes overcame these little disappointments for an enjoyable weekend.

Josephine speaking: I was born in France of German parents, and moved to the States when I was 15 years. Graduated from San Jose State University with BS in Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting and a minor in economics. I worked for IBM for 17 years, and was transferred about every 3 years to a new location, including oversees assignment in Tokyo, Japan for 3 years. After that, I worked in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) at First Union Bank (now Wells Fargo Bank). My husband Tom and I live on our NC Vineyards.
Tom Speaking: I am from Harriman, TN and grew up on my beloved mountains, overlooking a beautiful lake. I graduated from Le Tourneau University with an Engineering degree, and have been working for Westinghouse which later became Siemens. I had to work on numerous projects which required extensive travel abroad (China, Japan and in Europe). I developed a taste for traveling and was happy that Josephine loves traveling as well.

Josephine and I met in Charlotte and got married in 1993. Both of us were married before so we blended our children into our new family (Josephine‘s daughter and my two daughters and son). We are now empty-nesters, but the family keeps growing with the addition of grandchildren, three grandsons, one grand-daughter, and another on the way!
Since acquiring the vineyard, we have traveled extensively to wine growing regions to develop our knowledge of viticulture and enology. Our knowledge must include best practices used, not only in our region, but also in other parts of the world.

Why they chose this property

The setting of this property is gorgeous and reminiscent of picturesque French hillsidevineyards situated on the slopes of a river. We knew we had a gem, and soon after the dream was born. We wanted others to discover what we had found, an area rich in history, of moonshine and NASCAR, close to Stone Mountain State Park, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and dotted with many wineries along the NC Wine Route. People come here from all over to enjoy the foliage in fall, to hike, fish, hunt, and partake of all the things the region has to offer.

What makes this property unique

You have the opportunity to stay in an upscale apartment on a private riverside vineyard estate. You enter the property through an elegant entrance, with two fishing ponds on each side, and see the vineyard going up the slope. You drive to the lodgings situated on the bank, literally just feet away of the Roaring River. The two-story home has a wrap-around porch on each level that offers great views of the river, the grist-mill ruins, 'The Gathering Place' with its indoor-outdoor fireplace available to groups with multiple rentals. The beauty of the setting slowly registers with you, as you take in the view. You hear the sounds of the river cascading over large boulders, and the next thing you know you’re fishing and hoping to catch that “prize winning” trout. If fishing does not suit you, you can opt to relax on the sandy beach further down river, catch-up on some reading, cool-off in the water or picnic in the vineyards. Nature lovers will enjoy the sightings of the abundant wildlife. You can chose to relax or engage in as many activities as the region has to offer, it’s up to you! One of the benefits of being on a private estate is that you can fish on our private ponds year-round without a license. We also allow bow-hunting on our grounds. For those of you “wannabe” grape-growers, you can pick the grapes at harvest time or help crush grapes. We are open to that! Who knows, there may be a budding winemaker among you! There are many attractions on the estate, and around the region to have you coming back time after time.
