About this property

Mountainside retreat in Jefferson. Secluded but 10 min. from town. Pet-friendly!

Unwind at Roswell's Landing, a secluded mountainside hideaway across from the New River. Listen to the river from the hammock, grill on the porch, or toast s'mores at the firepit. Stay entertained with karaoke, foosball, darts, and board games.

Nearby, you'll find tubing, kayaking, hiking, galleries, antique shops, and more. Zaloo's Canoes and the Blue Ridge Parkway are both less than 3 miles away, and W. Jefferson's shops and dining are just a quick 10-minute drive.

About the House

Your escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life begins as you wind up from the river valley along a ¼ mile gravel road. You’ll find the house nestled into the hillside and surrounded by acres of undeveloped woodland.

Inside, you'll feel right at home with the cozy cabin charm, complete with everything you'll need for a hassle-free and relaxing stay. The house is fully-stocked with household essentials and the “little things” that often don’t get packed, so don't worry if you forgot your toothbrush, sunscreen, or the marshmallows - we've got you covered!

The house was built in 1972 as a fishing cabin, and we have made a number of renovations while trying to preserve the original character. While you'll find new flooring and fixtures, the large stone fireplace, wood paneling, and ceiling rafters still lend a rustic air. We hope you'll get a kick out of some of the vintage decor and accessories, like the ‘70s era fondue pot and slow cooker, but we've also equipped the house with modern amenities like a gas grill and air fryer.

The main living area includes a living room, dining area, and full kitchen. The large windows and high ceiling make this area feel spacious and bright, and you’ll feel like you are living in a treehouse as you look out over the surrounding woods.

There’s plenty of room for the whole family on the comfy sectional couch, and the dining table seats six. The Roku TV has Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max accounts as well as live Roku channels.

The kitchen has everything you’ll need to prepare meals at home, from cookware to spices and condiments. Air fryer, microwave, panini press, drip coffee maker and stovetop espresso maker, plus tea and coffee.

Relax like royalty in the master bedroom’s king 4-poster bed with luxurious Sealy Posturepedic mattress. The second bedroom is the “kids room,” with a twin-over-full bunk bed with pull-out twin trundle. For larger groups, extra linens are available to make up the living room sectional couches, each large enough for one adult to sleep comfortably.

On rainy days, stay dry and entertained with our growing game collection. Board games and puzzles for all ages, plus a foosball table, dartboard, and retro karaoke machine.

Outdoors, the busy flock of hummingbirds may keep you company while relaxing on the porch swing or hammock. Enjoy a romantic dinner on the patio table as the sun sets over the mountain. After dark, solar lighting guides you down the hill to the outdoor firepit, supplied with firewood and the perfect spot for marshmallows under the stars.

All guests are welcome at Roswell's Landing.

Perfect getaway

My dog and I stayed here for a few days and it was the perfect mini-vaca. The house had everything we needed. There is lots to do in the area as well. Will definitely book again.

Amazing Stay!

The property was so cute and amazing. It was the perfect place we needed. I was so busy with my little sister’s wedding as well as being her maid of honor. I had only one night in the cabin but thankfully we got to extend our night one more day so we could get some much needed rest. Thank y’all again so much for everything! If we’re ever in town again we’ll definitely have to come here again.

About the host

Born in England but grew up in New York State. NC has been my home since 2009, along with my husband, son, two dogs, two cats, and a leopard gecko. We bought Roswell's Landing in 2023, and renovating it has been a labor of love in our spare time.

Why they chose this property

After numerous trips to other areas of the NC mountains, our family discovered the Jefferson area and fell in love! Although close to Boone and major landmarks, Jefferson has plenty to offer on it's own, without the traffic and crowds. Great restaurants, eclectic shops, and a thriving art scene are surrounded by untouched wild areas, plenty of outdoors activities, and our favorite, the New River, perfect for tubing, kayaking, and fishing.

The Glendale Springs area drew us specifically, as it's the perfect spot to access both the New River and the Blue Ridge Parkway, while only ten minutes from town.

What makes this property unique

Our quest for the perfect mountain hideaway came to fruition in 2023, when we discovered the property we now call Roswell's Landing. Proximity to both town and the river were a high priority, but we also wanted a place that had its own unique character and charm.

Roswell's Landing fit the bill, and as we've renovated we've worked to create a fun and quirky space that honors its roots as a 1970s fishing cabin. While you'll find a new metal roof, new flooring, and new fixtures, the large stone fireplace, wood paneling, and ceiling rafters still lend a rustic air. We hope you'll get a kick out of some of the vintage decor and accessories, like the 70s era fondue pot and slow cooker, but we've also equipped the house with modern amenities like a gas grill and air fryer.

Because the space is also used as our family's vacation home, you'll find it well-provisioned with what you need to stay comfortably, from the Seally Posturepedic mattress in the master bedroom to "the little things" like night lights in each room, Tupperware containers, first aid supplies, and other extras that often don't get packed.

We know from experience that it can sometimes be hard to keep kids entertained on vacation, so we hope you'll find plenty to do on days in with our growing game collection. In addition to board games and puzzles, we also have a foosball table, dartboard, and retro karaoke machine.

Going forward, we plan to continue renovations to enhance and expand the space. The house has a walk-in basement, which will be renovated as a game room and additional sleeping area. We also plan on adding a hot tub. We hope you'll check back in with us to see our progress!
