About this property
Civilized Indulgence in NOLA's Lower Garden District
This beautiful renovated Greek Revival style B&B is the ideal headquarters for your NOLA adventure! The Lower Garden District offers an abundance of acclaimed restaurants, boutiques and galleries - many within walking distance. And three blocks away you can hop on the iconic St. Charles streetcar for a scenic ride to the French Quarter, Central Business District, Audobon Park and other popular destinations. There is also a city transit bus that stops right across from the B&B - a clean, efficient and budget-friendly option for getting around.
Guests have full access to the B&B common areas, including a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen/dining area; grand front parlor with TV, games and a Nola-themed library; the stunning pool courtyard with mutiple options for lounging or dining; and a washer/dryer off the courtyard should you need to dry pool towels or do any personal laundry (Note: for stays over one week, our professional housekeeper is available upon request).
Each room has a unique color palette, and all have been thoughtfully decorated with original artwork, oriental rugs and antiques to create an authentic NOLA vibe (no silly wall signs or pillows reminding you to "Live, Laugh, Love" or "Gather", etc!). King or Queen guestrooms all feature an ensuite full bath with either a private terrace or balcony overlooking the pool courtyard, 100% cotton linens and towels, bath amentities, ceiling fan, HVAC and fast WiFi.
Check-in/out times are flexible and may be arranged in advance to suit your travel preferences. After initial check-in, guestrooms are accessible 24 hours by keycode. Given the prime location of our B&B and all the transit/rideshare options, most visitors do not need a vehicle to explore New Orleans. However, if you are driving to the city or renting a car, there is an off-street loading area adjacent to the courtyard, and ample street parking on the block.

About the host
Hosted by Jeffrey Buettner
We are both entrepreneurs who love to travel, entertain and just have fun! Whether its tailgating at an ACC football game, following our favorite bands around the country, or planning an African safari with our growing family, we can always come up with a reason to celebrate! It's no surprise we have always felt drawn to the energy and character of New Orleans.
As Southerners, hospitality is in our blood, and we are excited to bring over two decades of real estate, property management and design experience to this new venture. Jeff runs a family business and hosts rare bourbon tastings; he can direct you to all the finest cocktail bars and most legendary dive bars in the city. In addition to managing 7Muses, Anne is a litigation consultant and working on her private pilot’s license; her favorite Nola hobbies are “just looking” in the Julia Street galleries and trying to recreate dishes from their favorite restaurants (Note: the kitchen contains plenty of local cookbooks if you are likewise inspired).
As proud members of the notorious Krewe of Tucks, we do love a good parade, but more importantly we love sharing our "insider" perspectives and recommendations on all that this city has to offer beyond just Mardi Gras and Bourbon Street. Whether it’s a long weekend with old friends or a whole month of cultural immersion, we look forward to helping you get the most out of your stay!

Why they chose this property
New Orleans is well-known for its diversity of neighborhoods, each with its own distinct culture and flavor, so narrowing it down to one was a daunting proposition! Safety was obviously a primary consideration, followed by proximity to everything that draws visitors to this remarkable city: music, food, history, art, sports, conventions, universities...
The more we explored the city, the longer our checklist became! Must-haves included easy walkability (5-10 minutes) to the basics: a great coffee shop, a handful of go-to restaurants/bars, a convenience store, pharmacy, a scenic park… Gotta get your steps in between the inevitable indulgences! We also wanted to be within 5-10 minutes driving distance (or a 1-3 mile walk) of the French Quarter, Marigny, Superdome, Convention Center and Uptown.
We ultimately chose the Lower Garden District because it literally checked every box and, geography aside, seemed to have a real sense of community - neighbors who greet you on their morning dog stroll, take pride in welcoming newcomers, and may even invite you to their veranda for a vieux carre.
Finally, we chose Magazine Street in the LGD, specifically, because it directly connects the French Quarter and beautiful Audubon Park, spanning five miles of amazing shops, restaurants and amenities that coexist among gracious homes in a variety of architectural styles.

What makes this property unique
7Muses was redesigned as a home first, which distinguishes it from many of the lodging alternatives in the area. Even though we just completed a thorough restoration to bring everything up to modern standards, it still feels like you are stepping back in time when you walk through the original 1800's front door under a gas lantern. It's grandeur and elegance is softened by what a recent guest called "homey-ness, as if it had been lived in consistently for the two centuries since it was built.”
The rugs and furnishings are either our own family heirlooms or sourced from antique shops "off the beaten track." The artwork is all original and mostly local; our goal is to curate a playful mix of formal and informal, giving each room its own distinct personality.... and it is a constantly evolving process!
Outdoors, the pool courtyard is unique in its intimacy... a quality that is much more difficult to find in a larger B&B. And while several smaller STR options are available with pools, you can discern the superior quality of our saltwater pool by the darker gunnite and coping details. From the wrought-iron gate to the lush landscaping, the outdoor courtyard area was designed to be an exclusive oasis.
Finally, perhaps our most unique asset is our housekeeper, Miss Jannie, a Nola native who has cared for the property and its guests for over a decade. As new owners, we were truly blessed to have the benefit of her experience and meticulous attention to detail.
