About this property

Red Quill Camp, A great place for outdoor recreation in all seasons!

Red Quill Camp is located on Quimby Pond Rd in Rangeley, Maine. There is direct access to the snowmobile trails and access to Quimby Pond-a great place to fly fish and to canoe.

The house is a cozy classic Maine Camp with a fireplace, gas heater and a sunny enclosed porch looking into the backyard and the woods.

There is a canoe and grill for renters to use in the summer and you can hear the loons calling from the pond.

The driveway is big enough for two trucks and snowmobile trailers.

It is a quick ten-minute drive to the center of Rangeley Village, and a five-minute drive to Oquossoc village.

There are arrival and departure instructions on the fridge. Guests are asked to make their beds with the sheets provided upon arrival and put their trash into the bins outside on departure.

This is a non-smoking property.

Around Camp:
The camp has a front and back yard as well as woods behind the camp. You can drive directly to it in all seasons on a paved road. The small neighborhood is very friendly and people often walk their dogs and run along the road.

Quimby Pond is a no-motor’s fly-fishing only pond. It is beautiful to boat around, with easy access and excellent fly-fishing.

Direct access to snowmobile trails, so in the winter you can roll out of bed and hop on your snowmobile parked next to the camp and immediately get on the snowmobile trails.

Easy Access to Saddleback Mt. Grab your skis and head to Saddleback Mountain, a short twenty-minute drive up to the lifts for fresh tracks.

You can also put on your snowshoes and go explore the hills around the camp on the nearby trails.

There is great bird cover behind the camp. In the fall enjoy the foliage, or come up for a hunting trip.

In the spring, summer, and fall, bring your hiking shoes and water bottle and explore the many hiking trails around the camp and in the Rangeley lakes region. Some trails start near the camp.

Great cabin getaway
The space was fantastic if it is a serene cabin you are looking for. Certainly a great place to disconnect from the busy world and spend quality time with those you are with. No televisions was a shock to the kids but they quickly adjusted to how great it was to play games hang out and chat instead of being distracted with electronics. The description states a hot tub which does not exist but it truly was a fantastic weekend.

Ski trip
Great property. Clean and comfy and great location. Hiked the trails near the house. Skied at saddleback. Our host was able to be flex with the arrival and departure dates and accommodated a last minute change. Would highly recommend!

Great cabin in Maine
Amazing place to stay! Secluded but close to town. We went there to ski but weather was horrible. We enjoyed the coziness of the cabin after some hiking on a nearby trail. Would definitely stay there again!

Kayak/canoe birthday celebration, ages 41-84
Our family (my older husband, daughters and their spouses) loved Leah’s Rangeley, ME camp, a very private, sweet space with many extra amenities: canoe, grill, fire pit, wood stove, games, enclosed porch, comfy beds! The small kitchen is very well equipped with everything we needed and more. The enclosed porch is a plus. For a family or small group of friends, this place is reasonably priced, compared to nearby more upscale lodging. The highlight of our weekend was a 4 1/2 hr canoe trip down the Magalloway River into NH, an easy 14k float which felt very remote in spite of being parallel to Rt 16. Beautiful water fowl abounds in this area into the Umbagog Nature Reserve! Already looking forward to a return visit! Thank you Leah for making your home available. Ladies weekend
Amazing time at the cabin. So quiet and peaceful You can hear the loons. The place was warm and cozy for this rainy weather! The porch was a perfect place to unwind and take in the peacefulness of the area.

About the host

Host profile image
Leah fell in love with Rangeley while skiing the glades of Saddleback Mountain and fishing the rivers of the region.

Rangeley is the perfect region for someone who enjoys the outdoors, and she was very excited to find this camp and be able to call it her own and share it with others.

Come sit on the camp porch and enjoy the wildlife or ski or snowmobile through fresh snow. Wave to the neighbors who always wave as they walk or drive past the camp.

What makes this property unique

I named Red Quill Camp after the red quill fly. I love to fly fish, and when I first bought this camp there was a big ‘red quill’ bug hatch. I put a red quill fly on my line and had a fabulous day catching fish! When I came back to the camp that night I leaned my rod against the porch, took off my waders, and sat on the porch enjoying the sound of loons on the pond. In the fading light, with the loons calling around me, and the silhouette of my rod and waders in the porch window, I knew this was a special spot. In that moment my little red camp was named.
