About this property

Perfect Family Retreat on 24 Acres with River and Enchanting Location

Redbud Trail Retreat is nestled among the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, on the South Fork of the Kaweah River. This property offers the utmost in privacy and seclusion while being less than 10 min. from the quaint town of Three Rivers & 15 min. from Sequoia National Park.

The large 5500 sq ft residence is set on 24 magnificent wooded acres of blue oaks and redbuds overlooking its own unique piece of the South Fork of the Kaweah River. Keep an eye out for the local deer, stroll our olive grove or just marvel at the majestic mountain vistas.

The property is comprised of a two-story house with the utmost in luxury and comfort with an adjacent cozy cottage. Central heating/cooling and a flexible mix of rooms with private patios ensures privacy, comfort and accommodation for any combination of guests. The newly remodeled kitchen is well equipped with quality appliances ready for the heartiest of meals. Adjacent is a dining area seating up to 12, central to a generous and lofty living area with wood burning fireplace and veranda with breathtaking views of Blossom Peak. The outdoor living environment is equally enchanting with a fabulous lagoon pool, fireplace and rustic outdoor dining area with gas BBQ - all with a beautiful river view.

The ground floor also has a master suite with a king bed and a master bathroom with large jetted bathtub, generous shower, Swedish Sauna, separate toilet and bidet, walk-in closet and an extra vanity area. On the ground floor there is another bedroom with a Tempur-Pedic queen-size bed and outdoor seating area. The third ground floor bedroom includes two queen beds, sitting area and private patio. There is also a full bathroom, a full laundry room with state of the art appliances and a separate library room.

Upstairs there are two large bedrooms, one with a Tempur-Pedic Queen bed and one with a king bed. Both have walk-in closets and private balconies. There is a central bathroom with separate vanity area.

The adjacent cottage is completely private and only steps away from the main house. It offers rustic charm, knotty pine ceilings and walls, and a wood burning stove. It also has central heating and air conditioning. There is a queen bed in a nook area, a lounge dining area, living room with convertible sofa, a separate bedroom with two twin beds, a veranda and a bathroom.

Although the residence is superb, it is the outdoors that is the big attraction. Sip coffee on the huge veranda overlooking the lagoon style pool and watch the river running below, or enjoy meals on the rustic barbecue deck, marveling at the majestic mountains. In winter, huddle by the outdoor fireplace sipping wine while gazing at the incredible night sky. In summer, relax by the pool, dipping in to cool off now and then. Take nature walks on the property through the blue oaks, along the river frontage or through the olive grove, all the while being on the look-out for our friendly deer.

You will love vacationing at Redbud Trail Retreat so much it may be difficult to tear yourself away to see Sequoia National Park and other attractions.

If you can leave your compound, the area offers an abundance of activities year round.

Amazing, remote location for adults.

Beautiful property, far off the beaten path. Children would have to be very well-supervised here, as there are plenty of serious hazards, even close in to the house.

Sequoia Vacation

Accommodations were clean. The pool was a wonderful feature and very clean. But most of all was the close proximity to the Giant Sequoia National Park...about 10 minutes.

Highly Recommend

After an extensive search for an ideal property for a small professional retreat for 3 nights, we selected this property for its location, beauty, size, number of private bedrooms, gathering space, kitchen, views etc. The property has a wonderful Cabin feel, fabulous views, private, cozy, sparkling clean. It met and exceeded everyone's expectations and, without a hesitation, our group consensus is we highly recommend this property!

Family gathering for a wedding

Our daughter chose Sequoia Park for her wedding. This large house was a perfect staging location for our large family. The kitchen has everything one could need. The house has plenty of room for everyone for both inside and outside gathering. Be aware that internet access is limited but usable. Robin is very accessible and willing to work with your needs.

A truly amazing property

We would like to tell the world just how great our stay was at Redbud Trail Retreat. Sadly, we only had short stay! Did not want to leave the house- its set on a large acreage with total privacy and it is so comfortable, spacious and clean. A great destination to decompress or have a family reunion. So relaxing- in and out of the beautiful pool (which maintains a really perfect temperature) and the sound of the river running by. We BBQ’d on the terrace, took walks, enjoyed the wildlife and watched movies of which there was an incredibly large collection. Beds were great and rooms could be darkened for that important holiday sleep –in. The setting is truly amazing and Robin (the manager) we wish to thank you so much for getting us into the house at short notice. Just perfect!

great house for family reunion.

We had a fantastic stay celebrating my mom's 80th birthday. There were 10 of us ranging in age from 9 -80 . The house has many gathering spaces inside and out for us to be together, but also had plenty of room for us to have our personal space when needed. We loved the back porch dining table and ate all of our meals there watching the wild life including a bear who wandered thru one morning during breakfast. The kids loved the bikes, pool room, swimming pool and didn't touch their electronic gismos for most of the trip. The adults enjoyed the hot tub and just getting away from it all. Hope to go back sometime. This was my first time using VRBO. Robin made it easy for me .

Absolutely amazing

This home was better than expected. So many extra bonuses I didn't realize came with the home. Robin was very easy to communicate with and the check in process was easy. The home itself has stunning views. It was too cold to go in the river but its definitely deep enough to swim and inner tube. The house is perfect for groups or large extended families. It was almost too big. The home is seculded but driving conditions in the rain wasnt too bad (no snow in january was good) and all roads were paved. I would definitely recommend this place and stay here again. Thank you Robin!!!

Great time with friends

Robin was very responsive before and during our stay. We very comfortably housed our group of 11. Comfy beds and plenty of seating. Our only problem was the stovetop which has only 1 of the 4 burners very functional. Robin was quick to come look at it and be sure we knew how to get the most from the stovetop but unfortunately it had been waiting for a replacement part for several weeks without success yet. Not a tragedy, just had to adjust since we had bought all our meal supplies prior to arrival. Hopefully the stovetop or the broken part will be replaced before the next guest. It is a very nice property. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our time there!

Perfect for our Family Reunion

We have a week-long family reunion every year and must find a place big enough for at least 12 that will be great for all generations, including seniors, adults, children and babies. This place was everything we hoped for--beautiful spacious home and cottage with enough bedrooms (with extremely comfortable mattresses), great kitchen (the ice-making freezer was a big hit with everyone), plenty of windows for natural light with excellent air-conditioning to maintain a perfect indoor temperature, numerous doors leading outside to the landscaped grounds and porches, perfect long shady porch overlooking the pool for outdoor dining and kids' art projects, nice-sized pool not for lap swimming but just right for playing and cooling off, and a lovely long winding driveway for evening walks and spotting wildlife (deer, family of quail, raccoons). The kitchen seemed to have every tool we needed and then some. Only the hot tub was a bit of a disappointment as it was not easy to get to with bare feet and was quite removed from everything else. Also the ping pong table mentioned by others wasn't available as the "games room" was closed. These minor quibbles aside it was a terrific week. Visiting Sequoia Park is only about 15 minutes away but a warning: going anywhere in the park requires a lot of twisty-windy driving. Best experience with the least driving: meadow loop trail near the Forest Museum. Our host, Robin, was very friendly and extremely helpful.

Fabulous Reunion Home!

Eight of my college friends just got together for a long weekend at Redbud Trail Retreat. Everything about this experience was fabulous!! We rent a VRBO every year for a reunion weekend and this was by far the most beautiful and comfortable home we have ever rented. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in the beauty of the surroundings and this amazing home. Robin had set the air conditioning so it was perfect the moment we walked in the door. The house was immaculate, the beds super comfortable and cozy, and there was a great sitting area that easily accommodated all of us. The patio options were numerous....perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the evening as the sun set. We cooked all of our meals in the modern kitchen with an immense island and every cooking implement you could think of (including a wine refrigerator and professional stove)! I consider myself quite savvy about VRBOs at this point and Redbud is very special. The minute you arrive you feel it. Robin has addressed every detail to make this a five star experience and it truly feels like a resort with the pool, privacy, and stunning home. The majestic Sequoia National Park nearby provides additional outdoor experiences and hiking options as well. Robin kept in touch without being intrusive, and made sure all was to our satisfaction. We all walked away from our weekend totally relaxed and in awe of how enjoyable this experience had been. Thank you Robin! Kris

Beautiful!

We just returned from a wonderful vacation at this fantastic location. The property manager Robyn was great to work with and answered all of my questions. I was concerned about space for all of the food that I was taking for our large family gathering - no worries, there are 2 refrigerators plus a freezer. Another concern I had was table seating, again once we were there we could see there is plenty of seating for everyone to eat comfortably, even with a large party. I would not recommend this cabin for those with small children as they will need constant vigilance every second here. However, I still give it 5 stars because it was worth the effort. If you do decide to bring small children, be sure to bring your favorite toys, videos, and games with you. While it is very close to the entrance to the Sequoia National Forest, be aware that it is a long drive (about 45 min) up a very windey mountain road before you actually see any redwoods. But it is worth the trip. We really loved our stay here. The kids enjoyed seeing fish in the pond, rabbits and lizards on our walks, several different types of birds including bluejay, hummingbirds, hawks and an owl. We had a fun time splashing in the pool. But our favorite thing was relaxing on the back patio in the evening and watching the tiny bats fly in one at a time for a drink from the pool. Viewing sunsets from the back patio was a relaxing highlight to our wonderful stay here. You can see mountains, the valley, the sunset and then the stars come out - but there are no other lights to mar your view. It is serene, peaceful, and beautiful!

AMAZING ESTATE - View View View!!!

There are moments in your life that take your breath away and we were LUCKY enough to celebrate such memories in a setting we will never forget. This gorgeous, well appointed estate was the backdrop for a milestone celebration, with family and friends ages 35-75. We enjoyed 7 days of hiking, shopping, relaxing, wonderful food & many laughs, complete only in a location second to none. The main house and cottage accommodated our group, where everyone was comfortable, yet had their own space. The beds are wonderful, the linens and furnishings are top notch. There are touches throughout in decor & excellence that truly make you believe you are in your own home and not "just a rental house". You will lack nothing in your stay here from the provided amenities to an incredible breath taking view out every window. Fully equipped kitchen with island, large walk in pantry & full bar area with sink & ice maker. The massive family room has a beautiful fireplace, big screen TV, CD player & remarkable views of the outdoors. The back lanai, outdoor fire pit, patio dining areas & lagoon pool were the places to be - whether during the day, after a long day at the park to watch the sunset over the hills or to eventually admire the wide open view of the nights stars. The grounds are simply natural, peaceful yet remarkable at every turn. COMPLETE PRIVACY nothing but nature - no homes, no neighbors, no roads in sight – truly your own sanctuary. And last but not least, I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was to work with Robin, paying attention to every detail & welcoming our endless questions via phone & email. Thank you again for everything and for sharing a piece of heaven on earth . . . We NEVER wanted to leave!!!!

Happy Birthday to Me: PERFECT PLACE

I invited 11 family members to come to Three Rivers for a few days. The house is far better than the pics: so much room. The kitchen handled many bodies well, with plenty of everything for big cooking. So often Rentals will advertise sleeping for certain number, but the table seating doesn’t match. This place has a huge table inside and another outside on the patio.. So many chairs! The pool was too hot during the day, but the evenings were glorious. River was shaded in the afternoon. Spotless. Quiet. Private. Stunning valley view. I’m so thankful for all the memories.

Restful stay in a peaceful setting

Our 3-generation family had a relaxing 6-day stay at Redbud Trail Retreat. The home was very large and easily accommodated the nine of us. We did not even need to use the adjacent cottage, which could have accommodated more folks. The kitchen was large and very well-equipped with almost all the basics needed. The bedrooms were large, with comfortable beds. The common rooms provided a lot of space for lounging, watching TV, playing games, and relaxing. Most notable was the back porch, which overlooked the very nice pool and the mountains behind the property. Sitting on the porch having coffee, eating breakfast or lunch, was very peaceful. The sound of the babbling stream, a little bit past the pool, was beautiful. On three occasions we saw a snowy owl flying across the back yard, which was truly amazing. Robin was very responsive to our various questions in the weeks before arrival. We had a few inquiries during our stay, none major, but she always responded promptly. The house is fairly close to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and we took a couple of family hikes while we were there. Everything in the house worked very well. Our only minor quibble is that there were quite a few cobwebs under the dining room table and the dinette table and there was some dirt on the floors of those two rooms, but we were able to sweep those away ourselves fairly quickly. The rest of the house was very clean. Overall, we recommend Redbud Trail Retreat very highly.

On the Doorstep of Sequoia National Park

We loved Redbud Trail Retreat! Our family group consisted of 8 adults and 2 kiddos (age 5 & 7). Between the main house and the cottage, everyone got a nice room. Also, there were extra mattresses and, in the cottage, a foldout couch bed. So room for more. The house was big enough for all of us to gather for meals, games, or television, but it was also big enough for anyone who wanted alone time to go get it. The pool is perfect. Three Rivers is hot in July. The pool is cool and a great design for all ages. And, the house is stocked with numerous floaty toys. We also loved cooking. The kitchen is first-rate, with all the pots, pans, and utensils you can imagine. The gas grill was a huge hit too. Beyond the house, there is the property. A river runs through it, and hiking along the bank is challenging, not too dangerous, and super-fun. My 21-year-old daughter enjoyed foraging and was thrilled to find some white sage. Down by the river, there are two sacred places. One had stone chairs and a stone table and the appearance of a medieval meeting place. Adjacent to it was a series of posts with relief images showing the stages of the cross - with stone or wood benches nearby for contemplating. One member of our family uses a wheelchair. He was quite comfortable moving independently in and out of the house and throughout the main floor. Best of all, Robin, our host, was very responsive to our questions and needs. Overall a great time!

Post Deluge Adventure

This house was wonderful...fully stocked with bedding, blankets, paper goods, cooking supplies & seasonings, as well as wonderfully furnished and comfortable. The rains of 2023 made it all the more adventurous with the beautiful sound of the South Fork of the Kaweah River playing its music in the background, not to mention the its power over the doings of mankind. This is a must for anyone looking to visit The Sequoia & Kings Canyon NPs.

Host profile image
Originally from Australia and have been in the hotel business for many years, so you can count on us to have everything just right. We love the outdoors and discovered the Three Rivers area while looking for a private 'off the grid' property to retreat to periodically from our busy schedules - a place to be able to enjoy with family and friends with easy access to the great outdoors of the Sierra Nevada.

Why they chose this property

Redbud Trail Retreat is one of those rare properties in the Three Rivers area that has vast views, river frontage , seclusion, and absolute peace and quiet.

What makes this property unique

Located near the base of dramatic Blossom Peak, the house enjoys seclusion, privacy and inspirational views of mountains and the river valley. A house offering extreme comfort, space and amenities. Your only neighbor is a family of deer that occasionally graze outside the kitchen window or the wild turkeys that wander by. The olive grove and the river are always enjoyable for a stroll.
This property has a certain energy about it that you 'drop into' the minute you arrive.
We Love It!
