The Green Door Getaway-TC Guest Suite
Green Door Getaway – Private Upstairs Suite in a Friendly Hosted Home Near Downtown TC
Welcome to the Green Door Getaway – the entire second floor of our home is all yours during your stay. Enjoy a comfortable, private space upstairs with your own living area, bedroom, and bathroom, while we live quietly downstairs. We’re here if you need anything, but most guests hardly see us.
This is a licensed, owner-occupied home, so you’re staying like a local. You’ll enter through the green door on the side of the house, climb a set of stairs, and step into your own upstairs retreat. A sliding barn door at the base of the stairs separates your space from ours, giving you all the privacy you want while keeping the home connected as required.
Your upstairs suite includes a bright bedroom with a queen sleigh bed, a cozy sitting area, and a private bathroom with a tile and glass-brick shower. A coffee bar with a built-in restaurant-style booth offers a great spot for your morning coffee, planning the day, or catching up on a little work. The area includes a mini fridge, microwave, and a fully stocked coffee bar with a Keurig, French press, tea kettle, and a selection of coffee, tea, and bottled water. It’s a simple, convenient setup—perfect for light snacks, leftovers, or a quiet start to your morning. Please note there is no stove or oven in the space in accordance with city ordinance.
The space blends farmhouse charm with industrial touches—custom cabinetry with soft-close drawers, barn wood shelving, and gas pipe accents. A window A/C unit keeps things cool in summer and forced air heat takes care of the colder months.
We're on the corner of 13th and Union in Traverse City’s Old Town neighborhood—a quiet, walkable area just seven blocks from downtown. You’ll be close to restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, boutiques, and the TART Trail. Beaches and wineries are just a short bike ride or drive away, making this a perfect base for exploring everything TC has to offer.
Brian lives downstairs with his two kids and three friendly dogs—Sam, Hollywood, and Uggs—as well as two cats, Kevin and Lexi. The pets stay on the lower level and won’t be in your space, but you might spot the cats soaking up the morning sun outside your door. We're happy to give you space or offer local tips—it’s totally up to you.
Here’s what you can expect:
• Full upstairs suite to yourself with bedroom, bathroom, sitting area, and coffee nook
• Private bathroom with tiled shower, towels, and essentials
• Queen bed with quality linens
• Window A/C unit and heating for year-round comfort
• Smart TV with streaming apps and fast Wi-Fi (password on the TV)
• Mini fridge, microwave, Keurig, French press, and basic dishes
• Washer and dryer tucked behind barn doors
• Two off-street parking spaces in the driveway
• Easy walk or bike ride to downtown, breweries, restaurants, and more
A few quick notes:
• There is no stove or oven in the suite (per city ordinance)
• The space is accessed by stairs
• This is a hosted stay – owner lives on the lower level
