About this property
Boho Loft in Downtown Wakefield
A perfect couple’s or solo traveller's getaway, el nido (the nest) is tucked into one of Wakefield’s original buildings dating back to 1910. Featuring exposed brick touches, a small but well-appointed kitchen, a heat pump for cool summer days and cozy winter stays, an extensive wrap-around porch, and a king-sized bed, el nido provides a great boho-chic space in which to relax and experience Wakefield’s unique offerings. (CITQ # 303917).
El nido is a two-level loft, so you will need to navigate stairs. We provide a state-of the-art hepa filter, have a heat pump for cool summer days and nights and cozy winter stays, use unscented cleaning products and soaps, and provide anti-bacterial bed linens. For those who practice yoga and meditation, the upstairs bedroom features an ideal space. We also feature a 'forest bath' path at the back of the garden for those who want to spend time under the trees.
There is something for every season and time of day in this “live and let live” town. In the morning, grab some freshly baked goods at one of Wakefield’s renowned bakeries, and a coffee from the local roaster across the street. In the summer, stroll two minutes to the river for a morning swim at the dock, take a picnic for the afternoon, or rent a canoe, paddleboard, or kayak for the day from Expeditions Wakefield, just a stone’s throw away. Explore the majestic Gatineau hills hiking, biking, and in the winter, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing these world-class trails. You can literally walk to them from the front door! And from summer to autumn, visit the Saturday farmer’s market located just across the street to procure local organic goods, crafts, and listen to live music. Fall brings with it a spectacular vibrant show of red, yellow and orange leaves, not to be missed. Wakefield village is home to several gallery spaces and funky boutiques, a beautiful fire-engine red covered bridge, and a heritage museum, all waiting for your visit.
When the evening rolls around, enjoy a 5 á 7 at the corner pub – or sip some wine on the porch. Then walk to one of Wakefield’s top-notch restaurants for a sumptuous dinner. You can also buy exquisite takeout meals, or make your own, and enjoy a romantic evening in the nest! And for a special treat, book a spa and massage at the Mill or the renowned Nordik Spa, just minutes away. These are only a handful of 1001 possibilities for fun, adventure, and relaxation in and around Wakefield.
