This peacefull home nestled along the scenic Yaak River sits in the stunning Kootenai National Forest and offers privacy, relaxation, and immersion in nature – yet it's conveniently less than a 30-minute drive from the nearest town. Families seeking fresh-air adventures and outdoorsmen looking for uncrowded fishing or prime hunting territory will find exactly what they're looking for!
The Space
Inside the cabin, you'll find rustic charm combined with modern comfort. There are two cozy bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other a full and a twin bed, one full bathroom (clawfoot tub/shower combo), a bonus room for designated work space to relax, and a queen sized sofa bed in the famiy room. The heart of the home is a spacious family room with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame breathtaking forest views and let in tons of natural light.
After a day of adventure, unwind in the comfort of our cozy cabin—stretch out on the sofa and stream your favorite shows on the Smart TV (with excellent connectivity), gather around the spacious dining table for meals or board games, and later step outside to relax around the fire pit under the stars. With almost no light pollution, the night sky is spectacular—perfect for stargazing and toasting marshmallows.
Outdoor Paradise at Your Doorstep
The property has 125 feet of private riverfront along the Yaak River, and the shoreline here is gentle and easily accessible – no steep cliffs or flights of stairs. You can stroll right up to the water’s edge to cast a fishing line, launch a kayak, or cool off.
Beyond the river, your backyard is essentially endless wilderness. The cabin borders millions of acres of U.S. Forest Service land in the Kootenai National Forest. Hiking opportunities abound for all skill levels. For those who enjoy hunting, the area is renowned for its game (in season and with proper permits), offering exceptional opportunities. Every day is an adventure waiting to happen, whether you’re fishing at dawn, berry-picking in late summer, or simply enjoying the sounds of nature from the porch with your morning coffee.
Nearby Natural Wonders
This beautiful area offers some of northwest Montana’s most stunning natural attractions. A short drive takes you to Yaak Falls, a cascading waterfall that's a local favorite, and not far beyond is the famous Kootenai Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in the state, where you can walk across a thrilling swinging bridge to enjoy the view below. If you’re up for exploring further, there are numerous pristine mountain lakes in the region perfect for day trips.
Convenience and Local Flavor
Despite the cabin’s tranquil location, you’re not far from friendly communities and essential conveniences. The small town of Troy is about a 25-minute drive away, where you can find groceries, a few local eateries, and any supplies you might need. Drive about 40 minutes across the Idaho border and you’ll reach Bonners Ferry, a charming town with additional restaurants, shops, and even a casino. For an even bigger excursion, the vibrant town of Sandpoint, Idaho is roughly 1.5 hours from the cabin – here you’ll find beautiful sandy beaches along Lake Pend Oreille, and a wider array of dining, shopping, and entertainment, including fun seasonal festivals and live music during the summer months.
What to Bring & Who Will Love It
To make the most of this incredible location, be sure to pack your outdoor gear! Bring your fishing rods, kayaks, hiking boots, and swimsuits. If you’re looking for guided experiences, there are several nearby outfitters offering fishing, hunting, rafting, and hiking excursions to help you explore the region with expert support. The cabin itself provides the comfort of a hot shower, a well-equipped kitchen, and a cozy bed at the end of each adventure-filled day, but the true luxury here is the landscape and experiences right outside your door.
Come enjoy the privacy, peace, and natural wonder of our riverside mountain retreat.
