Beautiful Spacious Escape On The Chain O'Lakes

Escape to the beauty of the Chain O'Lakes. Spend the weekend or full weeks vacation on the shores of Lake Pistakee in our spacious home. We offer enough beds to sleep 11 and 2 full bathrooms. While you stay, enjoy fishing, water sports, swimming, snowmobiling, nightlife, dining, or doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the breathtaking views.
Our home is located at the end of a secluded drive with parking for 4 vehicles. We have a large outdoor deck equipped with a propane grill and 3 tables & 12 chairs, perfect for entertaining and dining or just enjoying the lake views. A private fire fit sits right outside the deck.

The kitchen is supplied with all the cooking essentials.. pots & pans, bowls, cups, silverware, blender, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, stove, crock pot and dishwasher.
Our dining room has a table with seating for 8 and a breakfast nook table with seating for 6.

The living room is equipped with a 60" TV with cable and DVD player options, along with a sofa and love seat. There is plenty of room for the inflatable queen air mattress for 2 sleepers. This room offers a full, gorgeous view of the lake.

Each bedroom has it's own TV, cable and a Sony Streaming Blu-Ray/DVD players with WiFi for streaming other entertainment platforms. Three bedrooms are located upstairs. The first with a king bed, one with a queen bed and one with a bunk bed (twin on top of full).

The fourth bedroom is actually a full suite, located on the ground floor, with a queen bed and it's own full bath. The second full bath is upstairs. Both bathrooms have tubs and showers.

A washer and dryer are located in the basement and available for use as needed.

There is free wifi/internet available for your visit as well. (2) Pack N Play cribs, a queen air mattress and high chair/booster seat for dining are provided.

The home is located on a large property with 4 homes. The huge back yard, pier and 60 feet of water frontage is accessible to all 4 homes. Waterfront is boarded by a seawall. You can swim off the pier if desired. An additional private boat slip is available if needed and can be negotiated at the time of inquiry.

With your rental you will receive 20% off all your food & drinks (dine-in, carry-out & delivery) at the most popular restaurant in Fox Lake, Morettis. Tax & tip not included.

There was plenty of space for me and my family. We all enjoyed spending time here, the water was really hot for the showers which was great. The kind size bed in the upstairs bedroom needs better pillows though and the shower head upstairs makes a loud sound that woke the kids. But other than that everything else was great.

Decent for the long weekend

TL;DR: Met our needs for the weekend, had ample space for 8 people, could definitely use some updating, but we enjoyed the long weekend! The house overall was fine, we were all able to have our own rooms, we cooked multiple meals in the kitchen, relaxed on the couches, and enjoyed the back porch by the water. The house itself is dated and needs some renovations, especially in terms of the carpet, but it met our needs for the weekend. Jessica was responsive and offered help when asked.

The view of the lake from our deck was beautiful & inside the living room & diningroom were very comfortable & bright with windows. The modern kitchen was well furnished. The four bedrooms were comfortable & allowed privacy at times. We enjoyed the fire pit for campfires & kayaking in the quiet waters of the bay we were in.

Worse rental house ever.

First, the inside of the property was very dated. There was a small refrigerator and stove. No upgrades, no island so it would have been very hard to cook for 10 adults, which is what we rented it for. Also, I couldn't believe there were only 6 forks? On to the living room. The couch and loveseat were faux leather, which is okay but really old and cracked. Bedrooms were small, but comfortable. Bathtubs were dirty with no Kleenex. The deck of the house was a mess. The paint was pealing on the rail and floor. There was a wire going right across the patio doors on the deck that was a tripping hazard. The two tables that were on the deck were greesey. There were weeds so big in front of the deck you couldn't see the lake. The bar right next to the property played really loud music until midnight making it impossible to get any sleep. Last thing, the distance from the house to the lake was at least a football field away on a very steep hill. The dock barley could fit 1 chair. We had reservations for 3 days over the Labor day weekend stayed 1 night and left it was that bad.

Thanks so much Joanne for your thoughtful response. She did fail to mention, that once she ripped apart my property and rudely told me she would be leaving; I issued an entire refund for the stay. So Joanne and her guests actually stayed the first night for free. I take guest complaints seriously. My house is a lake front home that never pretends to be anything that it isn't. All of my photos are current and accurate. Based on my reviews you can see that I am a well respected host. Even A&E booked me house for a documentary. However, after years of being a host, you also can tell when some people will not be happy no matter what and hence I decided to reimburse Joanne for her stay. Joanne also failed to mention that she bombarded me with questions for the 3 weeks leading up to her stay. I politely and patiently answered every question she had. Questions she could have found the answers to, had she read my entire listing. To my fellow hosts, I would strongly advise against accepting a booking from Joanne.

Let me start with the good. The manager was quick to respond to emails. The views were very nice. Parking was a bit odd, but plenty of spots. We had all the pots, pans and utensils we could need. The grocery store was close. Unfortunately time for the bad. Ants all over the kitchen. Old sauces and grease caked under the cabinets feeding the ants. Broken cabinet or missing kitchen cabinets. Overall filthy kitchen. Upstairs toilet had a brown bass waiting for us. We discovered they didn’t set him free because the toilet didn’t work. The hose to the fill tank had come off. But we then found water all over the floor behind the toilet. Check valve was leaking all over the floor. So for the trip we had to turn the check valve on and off to use that bathroom, or go all the way downstairs to the little bedroom with it’s own bathroom. I stayed in that room. The first time I used the shower, I found earwigs on the floor and in the tub. As I stepped into the shower, my toes went through the linoleum and sub floor. About a 6” long portion was broke and hanging by the adhesion on the linoleum. As I pulled the sheets from the bed to check out. The stains I found on the mattress cover actually made me mad. I took pictures. I honestly think someone either had mudbutt or threw up. Unfortunately due to the location of the stain, I afraid it wasn’t vomit. There were several other stains all over it as well as it looked like it hadn’t been washed in a couple years. Just stay away

Thanks for your thoughtful review JT. I will note, he never reached out to me regarding any of the issues at the house; but instead decided to write a nasty review. Since I was quick to respond to emails; you would think JT would have given me the opportunity to remedy the issues at the house. I do not take complaints lightly. We put a lot of routine care into our properties. And this home in particular is a lovely, charming old lakehouse, with beautiful views. (BTW, the bathroom is fixed and all his complaints were addressed immediately...again complaints he gave me after his check out). 😊
