The hosts were fantastic, the best we have ever had the privilege of staying with, so welcoming. Treated our three kids like they were their own grandkids, our kids are already asking when we could go back. Down to earth, good people.
We went to celebrate our friends birthday and WOW! The cottage is extremely cute, loved the décor, and the whole setup. Our weekend getaway was absolutely PERFECT and very relaxing which is just what we needed. We pretty much fished all day, catch and release, of course, and enjoyed each others company. This was one of the best friend weekend getaway trips we have had!!

We loved having you here! Thanks for being such wonderful guest! Come back anytime!
The directions to get there were confusing
To make it easy just go to CJ’s cafe and the gate is on the same property immediately to your right
It is a bit far from town by about 20 minutes but it’s a cute place.
Owners live on the property and checked in on me the first night which was nice. Would recommend
Wish we could have stayed much longer! As I drove in the beautiful, well-kept horses were my first sight in a serene setting! The host greeted me on the way in, he was so kind. Then, I went inside... stunning! Attention to every design detail. I couldn't get over the bathroom with the claw foot tub, the dresser vanity and the chandelier!!! The bed was so comfy, softest sheets ever, great pillows, yes please another night!!! and the mom & pop diner, CJ's, within walking distance was so good! I would go back again and again if I could!!!
This property had a lot of thought put into it. It has a wonderful claw foot tub and a beautiful chandelier in the bath. The bed is comfy. The view out the front is peaceful. Great for a couple. It's relatively quiet.
A few things to note: the owners are right next door and the pond is actually in their front yard. If you have mobility challenges, there are a lot of levels/surfaces to get into the house. The single parking spot is very tight to enter/exit. The house was very cold due to the only heat/cooling source being high up the wall. There isn't a comfortable place to sit, except on the bed, unless you like dining chairs for seating. There isn't really a couch.
Overall, a beautiful space. The interaction with the owners was positive.

Thank you Bonita for taking the time to submit a review. We appreciate wonderful guest and hope that we do everything we can to insure a great stay! I would like to address the notes you mentioned for clarification for our future guest.
“the owners are right next door” - our description does indicate we are 80 ft from the cottage, we respect our guests space but we are available should our guest need anything or would like to share a glass of wine or glass of iced tea with us on our front porch.
“the pond is actually in their front yard” yes, it is not directly in front of the cottage but, just a few steps away from the cottage front porch. Our guest have access for all of the catch and release fishing they desire.
“If you have mobility challenges, there are a lot of levels/surfaces to get into the house.” We take pride in providing handicap accommodations and accessibility. We have provided widen doorways, a tall toilet as well as other considerations. If needed, guest can park on the driveway with easy access, please note accessibility in our posted pictures.
“The single parking spot is very tight to enter/exit.” Yes, large vehicles and dual wheel trucks will have difficulty. We do provide additional parking for our guest.
“The house was very cold due to the only heat/cooling source being high up the wall.” We do apologize that you were not comfortable, our split unit does a great job in heating and cooling the square footage in the cottage. We do have concrete floors and that can make for cold feet. We now provide house-shoes for our guest. The weekend you stayed the outside temps were in the 30’s, I would have been more than glad to have delivered you an additional space heater had I known. Extra blankets are always available in the closet and on the trundle.
“There isn't a comfortable place to sit, except on the bed, unless you like dining chairs for seating.” There is a very comfortable chair next to the bed and a fabric, padded rocker in the sitting area. “There isn't really a couch.” We do not have a couch, we have a love seat due to the size of the sitting area as indicated in our photos.
We enjoy providing a space for our guest to enjoy and would like to think we go above and beyond and wish we could provide a 5 star stay for all of guest. We have added additional photos to provide specific details for our guest before booking. Thank you again for your comments and we hope to only improve for our future guest.

Christian,
I am sorry that this is your review. It is not our intent to provide sub-standard service, and we hate that you really did not enjoy your stay. You didn't let us know anything during your stay so that we could do our best to rectify any issues at that time. We enjoy hosting and try our very best to provide a great and enjoyable stay for our guest.
In regards to the a/c the unit was checked, regular maintenance, two weeks ago, filter cleaned, and the unit was clean. Due to extreme humidity and high heat a unit will freeze up if the unit is set below 68 as the check in info stated. I really feel that this review was because I requested a cleaning fee, which I do not charge at booking nor have I ever had to charge anyone - this was our first. The extra cleaning fee was requested due to: food left behind on the tables, counters and floor, and now what we suspicion fish and the fish liquid spilt all over the floor and kitchen sink and counter, and large amounts of pet dander (we do not allow pets) that took a 5 days of extra cleaning and airing out. Your review and comments are your decision, and please know we can always improve. A/C repair guy came out, unit was clean, no mold, drain pan and drain were clean and not clogged and the technician said that they unit had to have frozen up due to the thermostat being set well below 68.
I will note that your review of body odor and mold are inaccurate, the bed is a king and the third bed is a trundle twin bed which was slept in with someone leaving behind their socks, so I am not clear as to how the third bed was not located.
**Future Guest - if you have read this review and have questions about staying with us I would encourage you to read the many 5 star reviews we have received from our wonderful guest. We were warned that we might have guest and have to deal with issues like this - this is our first in 9 years. VRBO is aware and after we have paid the a/c bill, the cleaning bill, and canceled our next booking due to the lingering and offensive odors we have been told by VRBO that we will not be receiving the cleaning fee and they will not be removing the review. Premier Host means nothing.
Beautifully decorated cottage ideal for a quiet retreat. My friend and I planned some upcoming women’s encounters. Loved watching the horses graze in the pasture. Tried out the two restaurants in Detroit - CJ’s and Garner Street Meat Market and Barbecue - both are great. The hosts, Tanya and Lee, are super friendly and accommodating! Highly recommend for a peaceful get-away.
We had a great weekend getaway to rest and recharge. Everything was exceptionally comfortable including the bed and pillows. The ambiance was perfect. The owners were just wonderful and we will definitely be back.
At first we were a little skeptical because all the descriptions and pictures appeared to be more remote (what we were looking for).
It's not very far from the highway so until about 9-10pm, there was a normal level of traffic noise.
The overall experience was very good though! Once we met the owners and viewed the living quarters, we were satiated and the location began to fade with the sun. Soon the stars were coming out by the hundreds along with our fire. We sat there for a couple of hours talking before calling it a night and by the time we came in, it didn't feel like a backyard campfire anymore.
The living quarters are beautiful, new and well decorated. It's a perfect, open floor plan with a modern farmhouse style. 5 stars on this part!
Overall, the stay was great and we'd consider going there again. It was in town so we were somewhat surprised when we arrived, but by the time we left, we were very satisfied!

Thank you Drake for your feedback. We enjoyed hosting you and we are glad you chose to stay. I have taken your suggestion and have reworded the description so that our guest know better what to expect when making their reservation. We enjoy sharing our space with our guest and always hope they love our little place as much as we do.
Super cute cabin for us to rest & recharge. The host has put a great deal of consideration into making sure her guests enjoy their stay and have everything they need. The add-on meals were phenomenal and certainly made us feel extra special. We will definitely stay again.
If what you're looking for is to have a quiet getaway to decompress, this is it. It was an easy drive, and upon getting settled we were greeted so warmly by our hosts. I will definitely come back!
Perfect location, friendly & accomodating hosts, gorgeous setting. Easy to communicate with hosts, beautiful cottage, will definitely look to book here again!
I booked this for my daughter. Tonya was easy to work with and always answered right away! My daughter loved the place! Thanks for an amazing experience!
Tonya and Lee were the icing on the cake and then some. It was obvious early on that they were dedicated to making our stay much more pleasurable than anyone would reasonably expect. The cottage was clean beyond belief and very comfortable. If you're looking for a middle-of-nowhere, quiet, pastoral setting in which to simply unwind, with several good restaurants and plenty of shopping just 15 minutes away, we have no hesitation in recommending this location. It was a wonderful experience.
The cottage was very nice and clean settled in a very quote and peaceful location. Nature was beautiful on their land it was worth the stay! Tonya our host was very friendly and helpful. Suck great place and host.
