About this property
Luxury villa in Snæfellsnes peninsula. About 40.minutes drive from Borgarnes
Our house is a renovated farm that was built 1943. It has an open plan kitchen, dining and living room space with unlimited view over fields with roaming mares and foals and down to the sea. We have three beadrooms and to bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bath tub. There are all facilities for cooking in the house, and our guests can have full acsess using all cooking oils and spices, coffe and a nice selection og tea´s. We also welcome our guests with a bottle of wine. The house is located on a fully operating horse breeding farm close to the magical Snæfellsjökull and the old town of Stykkishólmur where the film, The secret life of Walter Mitty was filmed.
There are so many things to do and see in Snæfellsnes national park. Driving to the little harbour in Arnarstapi, tasting the lovely seafood soup at the cafe down by the sea in Hellnar or hiking up the glacier. There is also a nice cave to visit, (URL HIDDEN) , or a hike through Rauðfelldsgjá (URL HIDDEN) Stykkishólmur is also a must visit, gourmet restaurant called Narfeyrarstofa, the black nordic house or the museum with water from all the glaciers in Iceland. Sæferðir has a nice 2.hour trip where they educate you about the Islands in Breiðafjörður and feed you fresh sushi. Best fich and chips in Iceland by the harbour and allso Narfeyrarstofa and the Nordic house is nice to visit :)
A horse riding trip on the beach is not to be missed :) A nice historic hike is up to a small mountain Helgafell close to Stykkishólmur. There is a guide there and they charge ISK 400 per person for the hike. It is an easy walk, takes no more than 15 minutes to go to the top, but the view from the mountain is amazing over the Breiðafjörður bay and the islands there. The area around Hótel Búðir is also a nice hike, white beach, lava and an old black church. Seals can also be spotted at the beach of farm Ytri Tunga, just on the way to Búðir, Arnarstapi and Hellnar (road 54).
