The Fish House - Midcentury Modern - Walk to Beach

Comfortable home with 1956 charm, but remodeled with all new windows, tile floors and carpet. The kitchen is basic yet functional and still has its original pink and brown tile. Two bedrooms have queen sized beds and the den has a double sized foldout sofa. The third bedroom has a twin sized bed. There are two bathrooms, one with the original yellow tile from 1956 which has been refreshed, and the other has been totally remodeled with a tiled walk-in shower. Set on over four acres, this home has a large yard with deer and birds to view. There is a blue water ocean view from the deck, and the beach is a quick 10 minute walk away. MacKerricher State Park sits between this home and the ocean. This is a great place for families with kids or for couples to share.

This home is the best! It’s even better in person. It’s so charming and cozy. Everything works well, well stocked, comfortable, relaxing, and so many great books and beautiful works of art. The fireplace is wonderful. The couch and beds are so cozy. You can’t beat the view and short walk to the beach. We absolutely loved it here and hope to stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Fish House! A great location walking distance to the ocean, and a well equipped and very comfortable house. We enjoyed being able to hear the sound of the waves in the distance and seeing all the local deer. Will definitely return again!

This was a home not a house. It was so clean, and well stocked for all ages. Just beautiful!! Comfortable beds, beautiful views, private with lots of grass area.

Great beach-near stay

Idyllic setting in the trees a few hundred yards from the ocean. Absolutely no road noise from the infamous Highway 1 so the quiet, the myriad bird calls and the distant ocean sounds were the entertainment. Rooms are spacious, beds very comfortable. I would return here in a heartbeat.

all round great house

Perfect for our needs, clean, spacious (easy for my wife to maneuver with her walker), secluded and quiet, and a great yard for the dog to run in! And close to our favorite walk along the coast. Our best rental yet in Fort Bragg after many years. Not to mention the era of the house brought back fond memories of my childhood. We will return.

Wonderful stay, wonderful people

The Fish House is the best. Peacefull, quiet, comfortable, very clean and well-maintained, gorgeous well-kept yard set in natural surroundings abutting McKerracher State Park, QUIET neighborhood, great deck with nice deck chairs and expansive views (best place to watch sunsets), easy walks to the beach and Haul Road. The loving care the owners have put into this house over the years is evident in every room. Well stocked kitchen, all appliances working perfectly, modern upgrades like gas fireplace insert and big-screen smart TV, double-pane windows, beautiful and historically interesting interior. And, of course, exceptionally generous and responsive owners.

Birthday Celebration!!

What a private and peaceful location. House is very welcoming with everything you need. Beds were very comfortable. Books in every room. So much history throughout the house. Beautiful views and you can even watch the ocean from the deck or walk to the ocean in about 10-12 minutes. Huge yard with plenty of room. Pet friendly. Will definitely be back.

Perfect Getaway

We have stayed here before and vowed to come back. The house, yard and location is just perfect for us and our pups! Not only do we love to explore the beaches and surrounding area but grabbing take out and watching a movie is just as fun. The house is clean and everything is clearly labeled. It is comfortable and warm! The yard could not be more perfect for hours of fetch not to mention the sound of the waves in the background! We love it here and will be back again!

Peaceful, quiet, and comfortable getaway

This was an older, but very clean and charming house. The kitchen and bathrooms were well-stocked with all the necessities, as well as there being laundry detergent, and extra bedding and towels. The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood is so quiet that it was easy for all of us to get a restful night's sleep. The owner was accommodating when we had to change the dates of our stay several times, and extremely responsive when we had any questions. We loved playing in the large, private backyard as well as having the beach only be a 10 minute walk away. The only thing that would make the house more appealing would be to have a second shower instead of one bath and one shower. Other than that, I would definitely stay here again.

Secluded Serenity: A Charming Vacation House by the Beach.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming and clean vacation house ideally located in a quiet secluded family-type neighborhood. The highlight of the location was its proximity to a beautiful beach trail, where we could see ocean waves from the balcony and hear them crashing on the beach. The vacation house was also conveniently close to a restaurant and a famous botanical garden, offering plenty of options for dining and exploring. The cleanliness of the house was impeccable, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The bed provided a restful night's sleep, and waking up to the sight and sound of the ocean waves added to the overall tranquility. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed, making it easy to prepare meals and enjoy our time indoors. The vacation house provided the perfect setting for a rejuvenating weekend getaway, allowing us to unwind and relax in a serene and picturesque environment. I highly recommend this vacation house to anyone seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating vacation by the beach.

Great getaway

We loved this property! It’s conveniently located close to town, the beach, and the Skunk Train. The house was very cozy, we loved all the books, decor and hearing the ocean from the deck. Everything was very clearly labeled, which was handy and made everything straight forward and easy. The best part for us is that it was dog friendly! We all had a great trip and are talking about coming back already.

My husband and I recently retired to Fort Bragg, my husband's home town. He grew up in this house, and after his mother passed away, we decided to keep it in the family and use it as an extra home for when family visits and also as a vacation rental.

Why they chose this property

This home has been owned by my husband's family since 1959, and we are pretty attached to it and want to honor its history. It is a very comfortable home which holds many wonderful memories.

What makes this property unique

This home has lots of charm with its redwood ceilings, beams and lots of paneling. The setting is quiet and woodsy, but it is still easy to run into Fort Bragg to shop and eat.
