The Fish House - Midcentury Modern - Walk to Beach
Comfortable home with 1956 charm, but remodeled with all new windows, tile floors and carpet. The kitchen is basic yet functional and still has its original pink and brown tile. Two bedrooms have queen sized beds and the den has a double sized foldout sofa. The third bedroom has a twin sized bed. There are two bathrooms, one with the original yellow tile from 1956 which has been refreshed, and the other has been totally remodeled with a tiled walk-in shower. Set on over four acres, this home has a large yard with deer and birds to view. There is a blue water ocean view from the deck, and the beach is a quick 10 minute walk away. MacKerricher State Park sits between this home and the ocean. This is a great place for families with kids or for couples to share.

Wonderful countryside home, quiet, walkable to beach, 5 min drive to town/groceries, comfortable beds, peaceful deck, fun record player and book collection, everything one needs for a relaxing stay...would absolutely stay again!
We wish we booked more than 7 nights at the Fish House. In fact, we’d love to buy the place and move in. It is just perfect for a relaxing, comfortable stay where you can enjoy the sight and sounds of the ocean, watch the sun set into the sea, and walk to the beach. This house has everything you’ll need, including plenty of soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The frog serenade at night was so relaxing. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. We will be back!
This was a wonderful house to make our mother daughter road trip so memorable. Wonderful location with views of land that will never be developed and of the ocean that you can hear and see in the distance. House was just as described. Clean and comfortable. The outside yard is perfect for dogs to run around and explore. We are already talking of coming back! Thank you for a wonderful time!
We really enjoyed our month-long stay. Everything worked as it should. The gas fireplace was much appreciated for a little extra on some rainy evenings. Really nice house and lovely yard. Even the wildlife visitors were polite to us.
Absolutely marvelous stay for a getaway! Immaculate home with a fully equipped kitchen. Fantastic floor design, gorgeous grounds, and an easy walk to the ocean. We cannot wait to go back.
The Fish House is the best. Peacefull, quiet, comfortable, very clean and well-maintained, gorgeous well-kept yard set in natural surroundings abutting McKerracher State Park, QUIET neighborhood, great deck with nice deck chairs and expansive views (best place to watch sunsets), easy walks to the beach and Haul Road. The loving care the owners have put into this house over the years is evident in every room. Well stocked kitchen, all appliances working perfectly, modern upgrades like gas fireplace insert and big-screen smart TV, double-pane windows, beautiful and historically interesting interior. And, of course, exceptionally generous and responsive owners.
Comfortable, peaceful, quiet, very clean, with an expansive, beautifully maintained yard set in natural surroundings abutting McKerracher State Park in a quiet, wooded neighborhood with easy walks to the beach, and amazing views from the deck. The care and attention to detail the owners have put in this house over the years is a pleasing revelation in every room. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to prepare your own meals in, all appliances work perfectly. The modern upgrades like gas fireplace insert, double pane windows, and big-screen smart TV are all tastefully integrated without detracting from the historically engaging interior. But most of all, I was impressed by the generosity and responsiveness of the owners. They’re the best.
We had a wonderful stay at The Fish House, watching sunset from the back patio and waking up to deer in the yard. It’s a charming and welcoming place to stay while enjoying Fort Bragg. We also appreciated our easy check-in and checkout.
This was an older, but very clean and charming house. The kitchen and bathrooms were well-stocked with all the necessities, as well as there being laundry detergent, and extra bedding and towels.
The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood is so quiet that it was easy for all of us to get a restful night's sleep.
The owner was accommodating when we had to change the dates of our stay several times, and extremely responsive when we had any questions.
We loved playing in the large, private backyard as well as having the beach only be a 10 minute walk away.
The only thing that would make the house more appealing would be to have a second shower instead of one bath and one shower. Other than that, I would definitely stay here again.
This was a home not a house. It was so clean, and well stocked for all ages. Just beautiful!! Comfortable beds, beautiful views, private with lots of grass area.
What a wonderful and quiet location! The cool ocean air was perfect. The location of the house was within walking distance of the beach. We had a great time!
This was my second stay at Fish House after a brief one in February, and it was just as wonderful (even better without the February rain). Peacefull, quiet, comfortable, very clean and well-maintained, gorgeous green yard set in natural surroundings abutting McKerracher State Park, QUIET neighborhood, easy walks to the ocean, expansive views and sunsets from the deck, well stocked kitchen, all appliances working perfectly, modern upgrades like gas fireplace insert and big-screen smart TV with Direct TV, beautiful and historically interesting interior, etc. All of this along with exceptionally generous and responsive owners. “I’ll be back.”
Nice yard for kids and dogs. Great deck off the back and good view of the ocean. You can hear the waves in the evening. I liked the house because it is older but remodeled nicely. Very comfortable. A nice quiet neighborhood also. Good place to take a walk. Very close to old 10 Mile road on the ocean. You can walk on the beach.
The house was more than what was expected! Stepping back into time, MCM. Very quiet, beautiful landscaping and extremely comfortable. Hope to book again! Love your property❤️
Lovely house, great view and location was perfect. Was a quick-ish walk to the beach, easy to get into town, and clean and comfortable. Would stay here again!
Always a pleasure and relaxing stay at the fish house!

My husband and I recently retired to Fort Bragg, my husband's home town. He grew up in this house, and after his mother passed away, we decided to keep it in the family and use it as an extra home for when family visits and also as a vacation rental.
Why they chose this property
This home has been owned by my husband's family since 1959, and we are pretty attached to it and want to honor its history. It is a very comfortable home which holds many wonderful memories.
What makes this property unique
This home has lots of charm with its redwood ceilings, beams and lots of paneling. The setting is quiet and woodsy, but it is still easy to run into Fort Bragg to shop and eat.
