Cabin is exactly as described, and very clean and comfortable. Nice quiet location away from everything but close enough to Bloomfield and Ottumnwa. Will stay there again, highly recommend!

Thank you for the compliments.

We enjoyed our stay here. The covered deck surrounded by woods was so peaceful. Firepit area was perfect except dusk to dawn light made it a bit too bright for star gazing. House was clean and comfortable.
We booked the cabin the night before our first day of RAGBRAI 2024 and our first ever RAGBRAI.
It was perfect for what we needed, close to Ottumwa, but quiet.
My husband and I visited this beautiful and peaceful little cabin to celebrate our anniversary. We loved it so much, after three nights it was hard to leave. It was a perfect place to find calm and solitude, just what we needed to do. The house is adorable. The living room is the best place ever to sit and relax...the trees, the birds all of it is so amazing to listen and watch. The bed was so very comfortable, we slept well and were able to sleep-in(which is something that rarely happens in our busy lives). This place truly is a perfect getaway for rest and relaxation. We will be recommending to others and coming back for sure.
Long weekend with our grandsons. Property was as advertised. We did some fishing but only caught a turtle. Spotted several turkeys but the tiny hummingbird and nest directly out the picture window was a highlight.
Loved this property! Perfect size for 2 couples just looking to get out of town for the holiday weekend! The owner was so easy to work with and even reached out about a pair of glasses left behind. I really appreciate that! We arrived on Friday and stayed in until Sunday eating, drinking and enjoying games and conversation. Will keep this on our list for a future relaxation retreat!
We absolutely fell in love with the cabin and our hostess, Carol! Staying here was like traveling back in time and allowed us to fully relax and reconnect with each other and with nature. Such fun fishing in the pond, relaxing on the porch, and cooking in an incredibly well-stocked kitchen. The beds could not have been more comfortable. Without question, The Cabin in the Woods is our new favorite place to stay while visiting Bloomfield. 5 stars+!

It was perfect.
Everything was well thought out and well designed. If anything, it was better than expected, including the oven that apparently wasn't supposed to work (but was warm enough to heat up a few racks of pre-cooked ribs). It really is out and away from it all and is perfect for a quiet and secluded getaway.
Nice, quiet cabin in the woods. Very clean. Reasonably spacious but not too big. A few quirks here and there but nothing major. I've only stayed in winter so can't comment on using the grounds. The cabin is plenty warm and cozy. There in no WIFI and we had very limited cell reception but it didn't really bother us.
The host and property were exactly as advertised. God fearing Christians with a patch of heaven. Two days of fun in the sun, fishing, grilling and the last day, cold and sleet. Warmed up at fire pit with coffee and coco. The pond Goliaths were evasive and majestic. Best bait to lure them in …. Pieces of good ole country bread and bread ball on the hook :). We will be back!!!
Secluded is definitely the right word to describe this cabin. Everything was pretty much as explained except the ramp down to cabin was a steep set of pavement blocks. Very precarious. Needs a handrail and lights for nighttime. Would have been nice to have been warned about the steep path. No condiments were included or bar soap, just pump hand soap. We ended up buying our own. The cabin was clean and had good working appliances and a nice king bed. We also enjoyed all the different birds singing in the tree populated grounds. So if you like old, rustic and secluded places, this cabin is for you.

As stated in the advertised description, we furnish hand soap, dish soap, and laundry soap. We do not furnish bath soap or shampoo.
A block sidewalk leads you downhill to the Cabin. This includes a large security light in the parking area at the top of the sidewalk and two lights on the Cabin deck where the sidewalk ends. There is no ramp any where on our property. The way I understand it is that the Cabin was built in the nineties to be a hunting Cabin. It was enlarged and greatly improved by the second owner who purchased it in 1999. We then purchased it in 2003 and have also continued to improve it. We enjoyed living in the Cabin for two years while building our new home. It is very unique and we have at this time well over one hundred 5 STAR Reviews on it between VRBO and another very popular platform.
I’m very glad that you enjoyed your time at the Cabin.
God Bless

If you are looking for a getaway in the woods then this is it. Has everything you need indoors and outdoors. Senic view from the porch and from the living room. Two nice sizes bedrooms, dining area for all the family. It is decorated absolutely fantastic! You have your own pond to fish in and dont be fooled it looks small but there are some big fish in there! I caught bass, crappie and blue gill. Took my grandson and had a wonderful time! The owner is / was a refreshing experience! Her customer service is top notch. I am very pleased.

The cabin is in a wooded area. Very quiet and private. My main concern were the numerous mouse droppings noted in the cupboards, floors and counter tops. I understand that a cabin in the woods would have an occasional mouse, but the cleaning of the cabin, if done adequately would not have that many mouse droppings. Our stay was not what we expected.

I’m very sorry you were disappointed in your stay. Since we are in the woods we keep out mouse traps and Decon on a 24/7 basis. We have to be extremely careful where we place the decon for the safety of the children.
However; the guests who checked out 2 days before your arrival and the guests who checked in 1 day after your departure did not notice any thing like what you described. The Cabin was cleaned the day before you checked in. Therefore, I have doubts as to what you are describing . We lived in the Cabin for 2 years while we built our house on the same acreage. This gave us a very good understanding of the situation.
I’m sorry you did not feel free to contact me personally. Once again I say, I am very sorry you were so disappointed in your stay.
God Bless,
Carol

The cabin was not clean. There were cobwebs and spiders in every corner. We found 3 cockroaches.
I would never rent this cabin again. It wasn't cleaned properly. The floors were all uneven and the walkway to the cabin was wayyyy steeper than it appears in the picture. And there were too many bugs and spiders. I wouldn't recommend staying there.

Why they chose this property
We purchased this property because of it's Very Private-Peaceful Setting. We can walk the trails, fish, have a picnic and roast marshmallows with the Grand Kids.
What makes this property unique
A very common remark from our guests is “How Very Peaceful & Quiet it is here”. There is a very nice View of the Woods and the Creek from the glassed in Living Room. Many guests have said they felt like they were living in a treehouse.
