Peaceful 2-Bedroom Canyon Retreat in the Hayward Hills — Scenic, Private, and Well-Connected
Welcome to your peaceful escape in the heart of the Hayward Hills. This bright and private two-bedroom in-law apartment sits on the lower level of our family home and offers a rare blend of natural beauty, cozy privacy, and excellent access to the Bay Area.
Perched on the edge of a quiet canyon, the apartment overlooks a protected forest preserve with a seasonal creek that attracts abundant wildlife. Wake up to birdsong each morning, watch the mist roll through the trees at sunrise, and unwind in the evening as your eyes rest on the greenery below and the ever-changing California sky above. In springtime, orange, lemon, and plum trees bloom just outside your door, and you may catch the sweet scent drifting into your private space.
Your Private Apartment
Inside, you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing and productive stay:
Two comfortable bedrooms: one with a queen-size bed, and one with a twin bed plus an electric sit-stand desk — perfect for students or guests working remotely.
A dedicated office nook with a spacious desk, extra monitor, and bookshelves for your materials.
A fully equipped kitchen with an oven, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and all the basic cooking essentials, so you can prepare meals at home whenever you wish.
A private bathroom with a walk-in shower stocked with fluffy towels and essentials.
Your own washer and dryer, available exclusively for your use — no sharing required.
High-speed Wi-Fi that’s reliable enough for video calls, streaming, or online classes.
A small private porch overlooking the canyon, ideal for sipping coffee while listening to the birds or unwinding with a good book.
Parking is easy — you’ll have a designated spot on our driveway, just steps from your private entrance. You’ll also find clear pathways leading directly to your door, surrounded by beautiful mature trees.
Quiet Community and Thoughtful Hosting
Our property is located in a quiet, safe residential neighborhood with beautiful homes and caring neighbors. We proudly host this apartment in the true spirit of home-sharing — a welcoming home away from home for students, families, and travelers alike.
Our family lives upstairs in the main part of the house. We are both working professionals with two school-aged children who follow a regular weekday routine. This is a typical California home with standard construction — it is not fully soundproof — so you may occasionally hear the gentle sounds of everyday life above you: footsteps, conversations, or kids getting ready for school.
We are mindful of your comfort and privacy and maintain a calm, quiet routine, especially during evenings and overnight hours. To keep our space peaceful for everyone, we kindly ask that guests respect our quiet hours from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
Our goal is for you to feel completely at ease — enjoying the beauty and calm of the canyon while knowing you have a caring host family nearby if you need anything during your stay.
Nature and Wildlife
One of the best features of your stay is the direct connection to nature. Just steps from your door, you can access one of the area’s most scenic hiking trails — perfect for enjoying birdsong, fresh forest air, and the peaceful surroundings. Our canyon is home to local wildlife, including deer, turkeys, foxes, raccoons, and plenty of native birds. In the backyard, we maintain active beehives to support local pollinators — you may see bees visiting the citrus blossoms in spring, so please admire them from a safe distance.
To protect the natural environment and ensure everyone’s safety, we ask guests not to enter the backyard or approach wildlife.
Convenient Bay Area Location
Though tucked away in nature, you’re wonderfully connected to the entire Bay Area:
• 2 miles to California State University, East Bay — an easy walk or quick drive for visiting students, faculty, or family.
• 6 miles to Eden Medical Center (Castro Valley) — about 12 minutes by car
• 8 miles to Kaiser Permanente San Leandro Medical Center — about 15 minutes by car
• Convenient to both Hayward BART and Castro Valley BART, making travel to San Francisco, Oakland, and the wider East Bay simple and direct.
• Close to bus stops and major highways for day trips around the region.
• Easy access to grocery stores including Trader Joe’s, Safeway, local farm markets, a Mexican market, an Asian grocery store, and weekend farmers markets for fresh, local produce.
• 13 miles to Oakland International Airport
• 26 miles to San Francisco International Airport
• 28 miles to San Jose International Airport
• 22 miles to Palo Alto Executive Airport
House Rules

About the host
Hosted by MIkhail Nekorystnov

Hello and welcome! We are a family of three : two working professionals and a son. We have called the Bay Area home for nearly 20 years. We’ve built our lives and careers in the heart of Silicon Valley, but more than anything, this peaceful home in the Hayward Hills has become our cherished retreat.
Over the years, our work and love of travel have taken us all over the country and the world. From bustling cities to quiet countryside stays, we’ve experienced firsthand how important it is to arrive at a place that feels comfortable, clean, and truly cared for. We know the difference that a good night’s sleep, a relaxing shower, a well-stocked kitchen, enough room for people to work and have space to take a business video meeting, and a thoughtful host can make when you’re far from home.
That’s exactly why we’ve opened our home to guests who share those same values. Whether you’re here for business, to visit family or the university, or to spend a few days exploring the Bay Area, we want you to feel completely at ease. We take pride in providing high-quality touches, from cozy pillows and fresh linens to a tidy, well-equipped kitchen and peaceful surroundings.
For us, hosting isn’t just about offering a place to sleep, it’s about creating a space where people can rest well, cook a favorite meal, listen to birdsong in the morning, and truly relax. We genuinely hope you’ll feel the warmth, care, and calm that we’ve put into every corner of our home.
We look forward to welcoming you soon and sharing this special place with you. May your stay here be restful, inspiring, and full of good memories.

Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it offers a unique blend of tranquility and convenience. Nestled in the Hayward Hills, our home is surrounded by a peaceful community of professionals and professors from Cal State University. Our house is perched above a scenic canyon, offering breathtaking views and a connection to nature that feels like a wellness retreat. In the mornings, you can watch the fog roll in from the San Francisco Bay, creating a magical start to the day.
At the same time, this neighborhood is incredibly central. It’s just a short walk or bike ride to Cal State University, and you have easy access to two BART stations, making it a breeze to get to downtown San Francisco. We love that it’s close to all major highways and major airports, so whether you’re here for a conference or a getaway, you’re at the heart of it all. It’s truly the best of both worlds — a serene retreat with the convenience of a central location.

Stepping outside, you can recharge your energy just by walking around the house and feeling as if you’re hiking in nature. It’s a wonderful blend of comfort, convenience, and natural beauty that makes your place truly special.
