Hi Cathy. I would appreciate knowing how I could have improved your experience - to make your stay a 5 star. I myself travel extensively and use STR properties. I have yet to stay anywhere that offers as many in unit and exterior options for enjoyment and seating, as well as the stocked appliance pantry and fully equipped kitchen.
Just the perfect place to be “away from it all” and still close to interesting places to visit.

Thanks Amy. It was wonderful to host you. It was very thoughtful of you to buy two new mugs, completely unnecessary as I expect breakage every now and then. All the best to you for a wonderful fall season.
We loved the comfort and location of the house! Very clean and many great amenities. We should have stay longer to enjoy all of the outdoor space. we highly recommend this house!
Beautiful tranquil place with a view. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. The cottage has all that you need, even beach chairs and towels. Close drive to Charlottetown for all your tourist visits.

Thanks Nathalie. I know the island has had lots of rain the past few weeks. I hope you got some sunshine. Have a terrific summer and I look forward to hosting you again.
Although my family was intending to only “sleep” at the cottage as we had other commitments in Charlottetown the beautiful grounds and view had us spending most of our time there!

Hi Shannon, I trust you had a great time and are home safely. I arrived at Westville a few days after you left. I want to thank you for your care and how wonderfully clean you left my place. I so appreciate it when guests like you are so respectful and care so much. All the best to you and your family. I hope your children are enjoying island life! This place is a treasure to me.
A fabulous spot to stay. Clean, comfortable and ideal as a basecamp for daily PEI hikes and excursions. The home was everything it indicated in the description. Thanks, Lisa!

Im so glad you enjoyed this last minute trip you made. I know you did not have the best weather so it is great to hear you made the best of it! I look forward to hosting you again.
The property and cottage were very nice. We had an issue with paper products which was quickly resolved by the hostess. I would recommend detailed instruction regarding lighting the BBQ be left-you must open the propane very slowly. It was even more beautiful than the pictures. Sunrises were spectacular. Bring bug spray as the mosquitos were bad. A fun vacation all in all.

Glad you enjoyed Cathy. Detailed instructions for the BBQ are on the inside of the BBQ door. I spray for mosquitos 4 times a season - there is only so much I can do. It is PEI - and known for mosquitos. My apologies the cleaner forgot to leave a roll of paper towel for you. This was remedied right away as I gave you access to my supplies. There were/are ample dish cloths and towels available for your use.
Really enjoyed our stay. The pictures don’t do the house justice. We came for the Canada winter games and were happy with our choice to stay at your home
It made our stay on pei fabulous. We were close to everything we wanted to see. Accommodation was wonderful. Canoe cove was exceptional. Thanks for ordering great weather.

Linda, so glad you enjoyed your stay. Canoe Cove is my favorite beach! I apolozie for the oversight in my rating. I think I was clicking too fast and pressed submit without realizing house rules had not hi-lighted. 5 STAR on house rules for sure! Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Great atmosphere and amenities.
House was clean and our fur babies were welcome!
The little member (4 year old niece) had a great time on the tire swing and playing with the outdoor “toys” provided.

Thanks for your review Gemma. I am glad you thought the amenities and atmosphere were great and that your 4 year old niece had a great time with tire swing and the toys provided. As you rated my property as a 4 star, what would have made it a 5 star?
Wonderful property which is secluded enough to have complete privacy, large yard area, excellent fire place. The house itself is beautiful with all modern amenities but still retains that country style feeling especially with the wood covered walls and decore. Check in was a breeze and everything that was needed was available to use. Would highly recommend especially for a family stay.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa Lynn MacEwen
My name is Lisa MacEwen and this land has been in my family for over 200 years. I grew up down the road and this property was the site of a Homestead, built in 1805, by my Great Great Grandparents and later lived in by my Great Aunt Elizabeth MacEwen. I live in Toronto with my 2 children. I built this home in 2012 to enjoy a little peace of heaven for ourselves each year for several weeks in the summer. This is a special place with some of the oldest Chestnut and Linden trees in PEI, dating back to 1914, (which my Great Uncle brought back from California, to plant, before he headed of the WW1, where he was MIA and never came home. His memorial is at Vimy Ridge; France). After unsuccessful attempts to save the old Homestead, I decided to demolish it and built a brand new modern, modest but spacious and cozy home. I was able to save some pieces from the old Homestead that were incorporated in the decor and construction to give this new place some traditional character. Although I own other waterfront land on the Westriver, I chose to build here, as this land has a special, tranquil and peaceful energy to it, with a view! Every time I come home here, I don't want to leave!
Why they chose this property
The water on the South Shore is warmer and safer than the tourist popular Northshore. Canoe Cove, 5 minutes away, is one of the most popular south shore beaches known for its safe water, tide pools and red cliffs. You can also have you own private access to the West River in front of the property where you can explore by digging clams, oysters and mussels. The property also has hammocks, 7 adirondack chairs around a fire pit, volleyball/badminton nets, tire swings, swing, horseshoe set. Please note that 'Fiona' hurricane of 2022 did extensive tree damage to my property. While it is still very beautiful, I did lose three of my majestic trees and dozens of evergreens along the laneway.
What makes this property unique
Please understand when booking this property that it is rural, surrounded by farm land and on the westriver and the inlet. PEI is known for mosquitos, especially rural properties. I spray for mosquitos 4 x a season. It definitely helps but does not get rid of them. I am always surprised when this is mentioned in reviews as it is clearly mentioned in the property information that is sent out and in the description. I also cannot control if wasps decide to make a home in one of my trees - just saying! These things are managed as best I can within reason to respecting nature.
NOTE: I have travelled extensively and have stayed in Airbnb's in over 10 countries. I never fuss or complain if they don't leave me paper towel. I am satisfied with one roll of toilet paper and one extra. I have also never been set up with coffee or any spices, which includes salt and pepper. I expect to go to a supermarket on the day I arrive to buy my basic supplies, which includes extra toilet paper and paper towel. I provide more amenities at my properties than I have ever experienced at any Airbnb that I have stayed in. This includes dish and laundry soap, ample supply os dish cloths and towels, spices and many countertop kitchen appliances. So, as a Friendly Reminder; You have not booked a hotel stay where you have daily cleaning service and unlimited supply of paper products. I start my guests with one roll of toilet paper plus three extra double rolls, (equivalant to 8 single rolls). If this does not suffice, please do not publicly complain. I do not charge hotel prices therefore please understand the difference. A hotel would not provide you with private outdoor seating, hammocks, bbq and a firepit with seating, on a secluded private oasis that is not shared with anyone else. I am happy to provide unlimited paper products and coffee and even firewood and charge an additional $200.00. for this service. Does this make sense? Thank you for understanding the difference.
