About this property

Chateau de la Gravette, Eymet, France. Short walk to bars and restaurants.

Château de la Gravette is a unique 9 bedroom château a short stroll from the French bastide village of Eymet. Hidden away in 12 acres of private and beautiful grounds yet a short walk from Eymet with its many shops, restaurants and bars. From the driveway gates to the bastide centre is only 2oo metres, a 3 minute walk. The location offers the best of both worlds - the feeling of being in the countryside while only a short walk to the centre of Eymet.
The château is accessed through a mature tree lined avenue.  The château is surrounded on all sides by attractive gardens. To the front of the château are lawned areas and mature trees whilst the back of the Château offers a large 12m x 6m heated swimming pool and a summer kitchen/bar area.
The former chai (wine storage barn) has been renovated to provide a large (20m x 7m) indoor area that can be used as a bar / games room / party room.  The chai is a great place to use on days when it may get very hot outside or if it should rain.

About the host

Host profile image
We are Robert and Alex, and we bought the property in November 2021.  Prior to that we had lived in Edinburgh, Scotland for 22 years.  Robert had retired and was looking for a “project” to keep himself busy.  When we were shown the property, we were led up the beautiful tree lined driveway and we immediately fell in love with the château. We couldn’t believe our luck in finding such a beautiful property in such short walking distance to one of the most vibrant bastide villages in South West France.

What makes this property unique

Since moving into Château de la Gravette we have completely renovated all the bathrooms, fitted a new kitchen and redecorated throughout. The château itself didn’t need any major refurbishment works but the grounds and outbuildings were in need of major renovation.  Our initial intention was to make the château our home and leave the outbuildings in a condition where they wouldn’t deteriorate any further.  However, as time has gone by we have taken great pleasure in seeing the estate slowly transform closer to its former glory. We have completely renovated the separate 3 bedroomed house and are in the process of landscaping its courtyard.  We now live in the smaller house when guests are in the château. The house and the château are completely separate and private from each other.
