Great little space
Home had everything we needed. Very close to Texas Renaissance Festival. Love all the cows wandering around. Debbie and her husband were very helpful and kind.
Our family greatly enjoyed our stay and the hosts gave a very warm welcome. I highly recommend staying here. It's a farm so make sure to dress accordingly with boots or close toed shoes and you'll have a great stay.
This property was perfect for the 2 families that stayed there. It was located 5 minutes from the wedding venue and provided a comfortable place to stay between wedding events.

Cute Cabin!
The cabin was cute, exactly as the pictures showed. I appreciate the owner being available but she was a little ambitious. As soon as we arrived (before we were unable to unload the car) she was at our cabin asking us to sign release forms and giving us the history of the property.

This is a simple and cute property that's very close to TRF. We didn't find any wifi and had very little cell data, but it was nice to unplug and just play games with friends! This was our second time staying here, and we had a great time.
The views are beautiful and the cabin is cozy. The owners were super sweet and were there with anything we needed. They offered to show us around their property and look at all their animals. Roaming animals were a big hit with my crew. The only downfall we found was the cabin has no doors to the bedrooms and it’s quaint so napping children don’t stand a chance. If littles go to bed at 8 you have to stay super quiet and camp out in the room on the other side. This was tough for us but if you have more flexible sleep schedules this place is great and we would definitely recommend!

If you want quiet!
We had a great quit visit. Deb and Vic were very nice. It would have been nice to have been informed on what activities are available on site. No information was provided. It was a nice weekend.

Response from VrboOwner on 10 May 2022
Hi Melisa, thank you for your feedback! The owners would like to share the following response: "Horseback trail rides are available with previous appointments and that information is listed on the web. There is an Equestrian on the property and she schedules rides in advance." We encourage guests to reach out to the local contact while in residence with any questions or concerns!
The property is lovely, and the owners very friendly. The place was spotless when we arrived. Plenty of room in the cabin, and 4 beds in the kids' room was great.
What we loved: Beautiful landscape & friendly cattle cattle wandering around outside, awesome location for RENFEST, or to just escape the rat race for a few days. The owners gave us a nice tour of their property and let the kids interact with some of the animals. It was a great experience.
Some things to consider (not in the brochure):
1) Getting there. You will drive on a well kept dirt & gravel road through a pasture for about .2 miles from the road to the cabin. If you have a low clearance sports car it may be tricky in spots. I had no issue in a stock Subaru WRX, but a Corvette would have to think about it.
2) Privacy. There are whispy curtains rather than solid doors at the entrance to the bedrooms, and hang to about 7 inches above the floor. So, very limited. On the plus side, if the kids are fooling around past bed time, Mom & Dad will know. On the down side, if Mom & Dad want to fool around past bedtime, the kids will know... No real privacy except in the bathroom, which has has a solid door.
3) WiFi. There isn't any. This is fantastic if you are getting away to unplug - I was still able to get Verizon 4G, so there is cell data connectivity if you need it.
4) Plumbing. The house rule sheet instructs residents to put toilet paper in the wastebasket instead of the toilet due to the septic system. Be aware if this is a consideration for you.
My 6 year old daughter has been wanting to camp but with us also having a 2 year old that is out of the question, especially during the summer. With them having a fire ring we were still able to roast marshmallows and hot dogs to give her some camping vibes but enjoy the nice cool a/c in the cabins. The property managers were excellent. They let us feed the animals which my 6 year old daughter thought was the absolute coolest thing ever. It was nice low key getaway which is what we were looking for.

Let's just say that we will never stay in a hotel when going to TX Renaissance Fair 😊
Very nice cabin, extremely clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The only suggestion would be an iron and ironing board - but we did fine without it. Debbie and her husband are the greatest owners, they actually met us as we entered the area to welcome us and show us around the cabin. Extremely nice couple 😊 The beautiful and peaceful surroundings made my husband want to come back for a romantic weekend getaway. We will definitely be returning every year 💕

Convenient Location to Renfest
We enjoyed our stay at the Iron Horse Guest Ranch. We picked out this property because it was close to RenFest and the price was in our range. Our toddler really enjoyed all the animals on the property - horses, a cow, a donkey, llamas, ducks, chickens, enormous rabbits, and even a wallaby!
The property was quiet. We enjoyed sitting under the stars in the evening. It was close to Magnolia and we tried out a few of the local restaurants, since the cabin doesn't have a full kitchen (but it does have a microwave and a fridge for snacks).
We look forward to coming back next year!
