About this property

The Carriage House is a converted Barn located in the owner's gated compound. The barn was previously used to stable horses and store carriages for the family. The entire house has been recently renovated and redecorated. The owners are Antique dealers and travel to France and England to shop for their business. Ray is also a realtor with deep experience in the Hill Country and Carolyn is an award-winning artist and has a studio in the compound.

The home is furnished with European Antiques with modern touches. Guests love the charm and character of the home and garden. The garden is enclosed by a fence with antique gates from Europe. It has seating around a gas fire pit, tables and chairs for outside dining, umbrellas, gas grill, garden art from Europe, two covered porches, and a large deck with a view of the Guadalupe River. Guest love the wildlife and the scenic view of the river and rolling hills. The river is a short walk down the hill to a picturesque walking park along with huge cypress trees lining the river. River equipment is available to rent near or you may bring your own and enjoy the river.

The Carriage House features an open concept that includes the living room, dining area, and kitchen. It is very private and the design of tall french entry doors and a wall of window to the garden allows exquisite light into the house.

Flat-screen televisions in the living room and the master bedroom. Free Wi-Fi is provided for our guests.

This is a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Hill Country and visit places like Comfort, Fredericksburg, Bandera, and Hunt. All a short drive. Great restaurants located in Kerrville (5 minutes to downtown) and other easily driveable areas.

There is a full kitchen with all appliances including a coffee maker. The refrigerator has an ice maker.

Beautiful Inside & Out

This property is in a pretty location & is furnished beautifully & comfortably. It was equiped with everything we needed. The host was friendly & gave us good information about the area. I highly recommend this property & hope to return again.

Eclipse viewing trip

Our host was wonderful. He met us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the carriage house as well as of his property. He brought us eclipse glasses. He recommended excellent places to eat. The carriage house was lovely and very convenient for us. And it was only about a five minute walk from his backyard to the Guadalupe riverbank and adjacent open field dog park. Overall, everything was delightful.

Hill country visit

Excellent stay at an amazing property. Ray & Carolyn were very accommodating allowing us to change our dates due to family priorities. The property and cottage are amazing. Ray and Carolyn have lived in Kerrville for 38 years. They have grown children with four grandchildren who live in neighboring towns. Ray is a retired insurance executive and Carolyn is an award-winning mixed media artist. She was also an interior designer. Carolyn grew up in Fort Worth and is a graduate of Texas Christian University. Ray grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Texas Wesleyan University. They are owners of an online Antique Furniture business. Ray is an experienced Hill Country Realtor. They live in the compound, which offers a perfect retreat for the guest of the Carriage House.

Why they chose this property

The Carriage House is located 5 minutes from the heart of Kerrville. However, it is located in a country setting on a private compound. Guest are amazed at the privacy, view, and completely decorated home.

All one story with cement floors softened with area rugs. The rear of the home opens into a fenced garden with seating around a fire pit. It has a covered patio and also a large deck with seating and all have a view of the river. Peaceful, yet festive with sets of string lights to turn on at night.

What makes this property unique

Down the hill from the Carriage House is the beautiful Guadalupe River. Our guests love to take long walks by the beautiful river. They can reach two parks where people play in the water, fish, run, walk or rent paddle boats, canoes, bikes, and other river toys. The peaceful yet convenient setting draws guests back to the Carriage House.
