No, nothing nearby you need to drive 10-15 minutes to get to Publix. Super secluded was only a restaurant bar behind it the was very loud after 11:00pm a lot of bikers. My weekend was not quiet at all.
This is an older property very close to Lake Jessup, and was very clean. Communication with the manager was excellent. Because of the extreme weather (rain and wind) we had a couple of technical glitches which were quickly resolved. Very friendly staff; we were personally invited to a Hula performance on the grounds! We didn’t eat at the restaurant this visit, but we have, several years ago. Don’t expect anything fancy; it’s a place to stay in the remote Black Hammock!
This is our second time staying. We truly love this place. It is a in a great location. There is great communication from the property management.

Pleasant stay
Relaxing stay in a cozy cottage conveniently located to many major attractions in the Orlando area. The washer and dryer are a great benefit. Kitchen was well stocked. Highly recommend using the discount provided by the host to try an airboat ride and the restaurant --both are awesome!!
This was my first time ever renting for a vacation and it was a phenomenal experience! Super quiet and the neighbors were super helpful with all around attractions. Pet friendly for my two pups. clean and exceptional. I will definitely stay here again.

Nice, older 2 bedroom home in a quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to Beach Hammock Airboat Rides (highly recommend this activity!) and Black Hammock Restaurant (very good food!). House is exactly as advertised and has a washer and dryer which is super convenient. Location was close to UCF, lots of dining options, and shopping. Less than an hour to Disney/Universal Studios. About an hour to Daytona Beach if you want to spend a day at the beach.

Two bedroom cottage in Oviedo FL
Pleasant home near Lake Jesup. A work in progress - needs additional work inside. Needs a deep clean and a maintenance check to assure all lights have bulbs and clean globes. Major listing issue - dishwasher indicated but none present. A disposal would also be helpful. Short stays and eating out a lot or using food delivery and takeout is best. Fridge is good; stove is old.
Upon entering the property you are greeted by the overwhelming smell of smoke. The Welcome binder is falling apart. The couch has no support and is very dated. The floors are completely filthy. I took a video of a cloth wiped across them and sent it to the property manager. I offered to clean the floors if they brought supplies. They dropped off a standard bucket and old fashion mop with no actual cleaning solution. She tried to say that maybe the maintenance crew dragged in dirt. The floor had clearly not been cleaned in months. There were 3 of us that rented the house for 2 weeks. And there was 1 full size bath towel. I did contact the property manager and she brought 4 towels to the house. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and need to be replaced. If I could have left and received a refund, I would have immediately left. Unfortunately, the property stated no refunds. I am sure that is because once you arrive, you are going to want to leave. I have always had positive experiences with VRBO. I am now second guessing my choice to use them as my “go to” for travel stays. It was a complete disappointment and waste of my over $2,000. I am wondering if VRBO has any quality controls and how they would continue to have a relationship with this property. It is zero stars.

Thank you for your feedback Patricia. I apologize for the issues you experienced. We do not allow smoking in the home so I am not sure where the smell came from. I have called a company to come clean the couch in case the smell is coming from there? I assure you the floors were cleaned and are cleaned after each guest. We are looking into the issue to figure out what's going on. We did bring a brand new mop and bucket (as you requested). We looked at the beds and believe the issue is a box spring, and we replaced it. Regarding the refund, you never asked to leave or be refunded. If you were that unhappy with your stay you could have said something and we would have worked it out by either fixing the issue or canceling the rest of the stay and refunding the unused days so that you had a chance to find somewhere else to stay. We don't wish for any of our guests to be unhappy. In the future, we do have other houses in the same area you might like better. We hope you'll consider one of those on your next visit should you choose to return.
Thank you for staying with us.

Poor upkeep of property
Loved the location of this property so close to Lake Jessup. Beautiful old growth-old Florida feel. That said, the house was disappointing. While it has potential - it was light and bright with lots of windows for the size of the house - virtually everything was old and dirty and worn. The floors were literally filthy. I swept them twice and got tons of old dog hair, dust and grit. Then I mopped them, but could have mopped several more times to get them really clean. To be fair, the street and driveway are unpaved, so it’s almost impossible not to track in black grit. Still, regular sweeping and mopping would go a long way. The beds were clean and relatively comfortable. The amenities were scarce; one full roll of toilet paper for a 15-day stay. Bath towels were provided but no rug or bath mat. The medicine cabinet had a broken shelf which my husband fixed. The toilet seat was loose but the owners did send a handyman to fix it. He would also have fixed the medicine cabinet, but our question is why wasn’t everything checked between tenants? The kitchen looked clean but we cleaned all the surfaces anyway. The house has a full kitchen, but the electric stove has loose burners. There is no dishwasher; not a complaint, just an observation. The washer and dryer worked fine but the laundry room was dirty. The plastic shelves would have had to be cleaned before any laundry could be placed on them. Bottom line, the house could be great but owners don’t seem to care.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in The Gator Lodge. Our stay lasted about 3 weeks while we were waiting to close on our home. Everything was so convenient and easily accessible. The home had everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Most importantly, thank you so much for making accommodations for our pets! We sincerely appreciate your kindness.
Rented this to have somewhere to sleep for the rockville festival with turned out to be a fail so we went air boating and ate some alligator at the local restaurant, house is clean in the perfect location and neighbors are awesome too would recommend
Overall my stay was good. The only things I ddnt like was that it was a sour smell to the water n the towels in the bedroom weren’t clean. Also, there isn’t any tvs in the rooms. I loved the egg hunt for the kids and gator feeding. Neighborhood was quiet n only 20 minutes from Orlando n one hour from Daytona beach.

Nothing fancy.
Not a fancy property, do not have high expectations. Having said that, the owners were very nice and efficient. There was a bit of an odor, especially in the room with the washer and dryer. There was not a proper door for the bathroom, it was a piece of wood with a bolt on it. The kitchen, bedrooms, TV, bathroom were all functional. It is a bit remote and dark to drive to at night, so you should have good night vision. Nearby restaurant was pretty good, unique, (alligator tacos.)

Thank you for your review Allan. We take guest feedback and suggestions very seriously and appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. One of the appeals of this location (and the 7 others we host) is the secluded location, away from the loud noises and bright lights of the city. It can get dark at night but the trade off is great views of the sky and lack of extra noise to enjoy your "getaway" with us. We do hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise and will consider staying with us again in the future perhaps in one of our other houses in the same area.
As described and in pictures, great, loved the location near the Black Hammock restaurant and bar, I would suggest guests know the TV is antenna reception only, bring a wifi enabled device like a Firestick for your own TV viewing.
Thank you, Jim Maguire

Thank you for your review James. The TV provided is a Wi-Fi connected smart TV. You are able to access a variety of apps including Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, Hulu and more without any additional equipment. It is also connected to an antenna which picks up all the local channels for you to watch as well. If you have any questions or issues with technology or otherwise during your stay, we do encourage you to reach out to the property manager whom can help you get those issues resolved. We hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise and will consider staying with us again in the future.
We loved staying at this incredibly nice VRBO in Oviedo! It was within walking distance of the Black Hammock - I totally recommend everyone staying here walk over and check it out. The VRBO was clean and check in and out processes were easy to navigate. It was also no more than 30 minutes away from anything we wanted to do in Orlando, Sanford, and Oviedo. You will not regret staying here - we will be back!
Liked the location. I think a few upgrades would make me choose this particular house again. The couch is very difficult to get out of for an older person. The cookware should be replaced (bent pans)
Overall satisfactory cleanliness except for inside AC closet very dirty/filter not attached/evaporator coil very dirty. Enjoyed our stay and would have no problem staying again. Mostly quiet area except for occasional heavy traffic to the restaurant/boat ramp road which is directly behind the house. House appears to have been updated in several areas and is possibly a work in progress. Overall REALLY enjoyed the stay and would have extended but it was booked for the remainder of the month.
