This comfortable retreat in the hills just west of downtown Austin is the ideal location for a family, digital nomads and new transplants to move in and explore for a while all that Central Texas has to offer: acclaimed Eanes Independent School District schools, downtown Austin, the hill country, shopping, outdoor recreation, fine restaurants, as well as special events such as UT Football games, Formula 1, Austin City Limits, SXSW and countless others.

The home is unfurnished and available for longer-term stays, so bring your stuff and stay a while! For those looking for a quiet and safe retreat, our home is extremely private on a dead-end street off a dead-end street in the Westlake Highlands area of Central Austin. No through traffic means quiet nights with only the sound of night birds and the rustle of the trees. Even though it feels like you are in the country, you are a short 10 minute drive through beautiful hilly quiet roads to downtown Austin, 15 minutes to UT, 30 minutes to F1, 5 minutes to ACL, 10 minutes to SXSW venues and less than 5 minutes to dining & shopping.

The house is 3400 square feet on a wooded half acre. The house can comfortably fit 10 people in 5 bedrooms or convert a bedroom or two into additional workspaces.
The main floor features the master bedroom with plenty of room for a King bed and a sitting area. It features walk-in closets, an en-suite bathroom with a tub and shower and double vanities. Another room can be a small bedroom, nursery or office. It is next to a half-bath. The main floor also features a great room, a large kitchen with a bar that seats six with a small attached office, an open concept dining or family room, a breakfast dining area and a laundry room with doggie doors to the outside. The outdoor deck wraps around the main floor and features outdoor living and dining areas and is securely fenced with a small grassy area for pet relief.

The second floor has three large bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Rates are based on the length of stay (minimum 60 days), the number of people and pets.

Great Place

It is a beautiful place to stay. Very relaxing and comfortable. Morning coffee on the deck with nature and wildlife. Got to sit with deer while watching the hummingbirds and squirrels in the trees. Also got to meet the friendliest loving cat that would come over and hang out with us on the deck.

Family Reunion

Anita’s place was beautiful and perfectly housed our very large group during our stay in Austin. We loved the location and appreciated being able to book last minute as our other rental had fallen through. We appreciated her letting us use the place as a quick touch down for family we were visiting to do pop ins.

GRADUATION WEEKEND CELEBRATION

Our daughter's college graduation celebration weekend in your home was amazing. Your home is stunning and very comfortable. Anita made our stay memorable and anything we could have wanted or needed was available. Our host made sure the home was nice and cool upon arrival and all beds were ready for all guests. Great Stay- Careful at night

I stayed here for my graduation weekend and the house is beautiful. It looks just like the pictures. The host communicated efficiently and it was relatively close to downtown. The weather didn’t lend itself to use the patio as much but it was beautiful. One note I would give to future guests is to be careful driving at night. The neighborhood doesn’t have any streetlights and the roads are winding and hilly.

Reunion Weekend in West Lake,Austin

We stayed here in May of 2024 for a reunion of long time friends and it was absolutely perfect. Our group was 6 people where we all had separate bedrooms and bathrooms and plenty of common space to enjoy. The house has an amazing wrap around our door deck with scenic views of the hills and area. Great for a glass of wine and socializing..The home was about a 10-15 minute drive from the downtown area, was spacious, well kept and had everything we needed to make our weekend what we wanted and more. Our hosts Anita and Kurt were A++ Always responsive, offered us additional ways to enhance our stay, stocked some refreshments and coffee and welcomed us very hospitably! Would highly recommend this home and hosts for your consideration.

Nice Suburban Home

This home is spacious with large rooms, comfortable common areas and a great kitchen. It was clean and well appointed and located in a beautiful hilly suburb of Austin, but not too far of a drive from the action. It has large decks outside with nice views and hang out spots. It looked good in the photos and was even better in person. The Honor Bar was a nice touch -- a fridge stocked with drinks for a fair contribution. Host Anita was very responsive and helpful. The only possible negative was her insistence that no guests, even during the daytime, be allowed in the house without letting her know and possibly paying extra. We never had any come over, but I thought this was unnecessarily rigid and not typical for houses we've rented in the past.

Great stay in Austin

My three sons and I rented this house for 5 days for the F1 race. It’s a in a great wooded location with a lovely private outdoor seating area. The house was immaculately clean though there were clothing and some other personal items in some of the closets. We assume the renting family usually lives in the house. The host was accommodating and clear about extras and expectations. The family left a cat locked up in the laundry room, with a cat door so it could get outside and a food and water feeder. This was not mentioned in the write-up and we did not have a choice about keeping it. It was no trouble but this may be an issue for others.

Christmas in Austin

We enjoyed staying here - felt at home during the visit. The house was clean, well set up, and added touches like a decorated Christmas tree and lighting made us feel at home. There was food in the fridge, coffee and a well stocked mini-bar. The beds were comfortable, and the neighborhood quiet. Hosted family for Christmas lunch, and there was plenty of seating and cooking items. Anita was very responsive when I had questions. Checkout was easy. Great place to stay!

Wonderful house for couples getaway!

Upscale house in secluded area, close to lake and downtown. Plenty of room and large patio with beautiful views throughout house. We had four couples on our group and we all loved the house and had a great time!

Bachelorette party

Anita was extremely responsive and very helpful from beginning to end. The town of Westlake is beautiful and serene, but is much hillier and further out than anticipated. Make sure you call for an Uber at least 10-15 minutes before you need to leave. The check in and check out process was seamless. The home is stunning and very well maintained. There was plenty of space for 13 girls and sound didn't carry, so others who went to sleep early were never disturbed. The beds were super comfortable and the atmosphere cozy and homely. The main critique is that we were not informed that the owners have pets. Though the pets were not there, a few of the girls had allergic reactions and had to take medication. Aside from that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this home for large groups!

Great Westlake Retreat

A native Texan, I'm originally from San Antonio, but I've called Austin home ever since I came here to attend the University of Texas. My background is in running non-profit organizations, although I'm currently in my second, third and fourth careers - fashion, interior design, and renting out my house. I love to travel too and I always find ideas when I'm traveling on how to make my home more comfortable for you. I love Austin and all it has to offer and I'm sure you will, too!
