Great hospitality and location
A friend and I stayed for 3 nights during the Ironman in Oct 2018. This is a 2 bedroom apartment in one of three buildings on the property with the host living onsite.
There is one of only a few swimming beaches right across the road and the Ironman race came past the apartment building. We didnt spend much time in the apartment other than to shower and sleep but had full use of the kitchen, own bathroom, lounge area and decking.
It is a level 1 apartment and there is an elevator for luggage. There is a short flight of stairs to get to the apartment. Security is good and the area is clean and safe.
Our host was very considerate, helpful and provided us with snacks/water which we really appreciated. Hospitality here is excellent. There are beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards and tennis racquets available for use.
The gardens are pretty and there is a pool and tennis court on site.
There is a ’Biki’ bike hire rack a short walk away for bicycle hire that could be used to ride into Kailua-Kona.
We took our host’s advice and hired a car - it would have been difficult to get around Kailua-Kona and other areas of the island without it. We had a carpark allocated on site which was handy.
There were some road closures during the event but we planned in advance and made sure our car was parked out of the apartment building and the road closure areas so we still had access to use it.
There is no air conditioning but plenty of fans in the apartment.
The lighting can be a little dark at night which made it difficult to find things in our luggage. Recommend a big fluorescent light in the room for these occasions.
We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it. We didnt unfortunately make full use of the great facilities though choosing to spend most of our time in town or touring around. We had considered a few other accommodation options but during this event there were quite a few places with minimum 7 nights stay.
