Our guest bungalow is located within our farm, in a scenic location above Pavones, near Turrialba. It offers a panoramic view of the two volcanos Irazú and Turrialba, the Turrialba valley below and on the other side all the way down to the Caribbean Coast.
Around the buildings, there are well kept gardens with lots of flowers and ornamental plants, notably a collection of beautiful orchids.
In the farm we grow coffee and process it using traditional methods. We also produce fruit (citrus, papaya, four kinds of banana, some pineapple, plus local fruit) and various types of vegetables and salads. Fruit and vegetable are grown organically. Last not least, we keep about 50 free range hens. We are happy about guests who want to learn more about these activities or even want to give it a try themselves.
Gente con Tiempo, as we call our place, means People with Time. It is a place to relax and enjoy, with no fixed schedule and no rush to move on to the next destination. Our guests are typically couples close to retirement age, but younger persons and especially families with kids are also very welcome.
The house comes with a fully equipped kitchen. We provide house cleaning service (but not dish washing) and laundry service (washing and drying, but not ironing).
There is a fast and stable internet connection, ideal for professionals intending to do serious work via internet. Work spaces are available in the living room and on the terrace. A large work desk can be set up on request.
The location of our place is ideal base for all sorts of excursions, such as tours on foot or horseback and, for the more adventurous, rafting on the Pacuare river. The region is especially suitable for tours by mountain bike, as there is an excellent network of rural roads. The best beaches on the Caribbean Coast are a short 2.5 hours’ drive away.
The town of Turrialba is 20 minutes away, by own transportation or by public bus. Transfers from and to San José airport can be arranged.
The distance from the main road Turrialba-Siquirres is 1km. The place can be reached with any type of car. Guests can drive right up to the car port. The house is wheelchair accessible.
Your hosts are a Swiss/Ecuadorian couple. We speak Spanish, English, German and French.
Our guests often stay for weeks or even months. They use our place as base from which to explore the region and also to visit other parts of the country. We are happy to assist with suggestions and advice for trip planning.
