About this property

Rustic, Secluded Retreat Center near Copalis Beach

Sursum Corda is designed for small groups to enjoy the beauty of the Washington coast in simple, comfortable accommodations. The facility includes a large patio and outdoor fire pit, a 30ft. yurt for prayer and meditation and walking trails through old growth forest.
There are 22 beds, located on two floors, and 6 bathrooms in the Main house, as well as a spacious kitchen, Living room/Dining area, a media center with internet and wide-screen TV and a small library. May thru September, 2 night minimum.

You can drive onto the beach 2 miles south at Ocean City or take a short walk through the dunes to Copalis Beach. Copalis Beach is the razor clam capital of the world and there is great fishing nearby as well. We are located just north of Ocean Shores, WA, which offers shopping, entertainment and the Quinault Beach Casino.
We have a strict NO pet policy in the building. Animals are welcome on the property, but not in the building.

Fantastic location and amenities for a family reunion! We were in awe at how many rooms there were here, and seating/eating areas for a group. The beds were comfy, SO many bathrooms and showers, house was well appointed, and the grounds were lovely to explore. We plan on booking our family gatherings here every year now. Carol was so welcoming and helpful, thank you for sharing your wonderful VRBO!

We loved this house! We rented it for my parent’s 50th anniversary. We had six couples with varying ages of kids. The space was wonderful! We were able to make some great memories. I highly recommend this location for the space, location and host.

Secluded retreat

Easy beach access, wonderful spacious accommodations. Plenty of room for group meals and activities. Fairly close to Ocean Shores, a market, several drive out beaches. Pleasant surroundings, roomy patio, fire ring with rustic seats. Just a fun experience Wonderful Hosts!!

Another beautiful stay

It's our 3rd year hosting a board game retreat at this lovely property. Carol is very kind and the property is gorgeous. Everything is extremely clean and very accessible. The house is stocked so well with everything you would ever need for a visit.

Roomy retreat space

This is the second time our non-profit has held a retreat here. What a great space with room for everyone to eat, meet, and sleep! Plenty of parking and close to the beach.

This is our fourth time staying here and this trip had four families get together for several nights for a holiday reunion. So much nice space for kids and adults to spread out and kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook large dishes! Always love the little store down the street and checking out Seabrook and the beach too! Would stay again!!

Meditation Retreat

We love Sursum Corda! This is our third year there, and we're planning already for next summer. Carol is great at communicating ahead of time, and we've had only good interactions with her over the years. The location is wonderful, with old growth forest out back and a pretty secluded beach a few minutes away.

Beautiful property

Sursum Corda housed this year's family reunion, about 20 adults and 2 children. There was just enough space for us. A few of the one-person bedrooms did not have windows but were cozy and small fans were provided to create air circulation. The building itself was clean, simple and cozy. The property available to guests includes 2 fire pit areas and a lovely 1/4 mile loop walk tthrough some very serene woods. The proximity to the beach was great. The beach was clean, wide, and with fine sand. It was one of our best reunions yet.

"I want to live here!"

That's what my teenager said when she saw all the bedrooms, little nooks to get away, and room to spread out. We also loved the the woodland trail, the beach close by, (we would recommend driving, especially with young or senior members of a party), a super-stocked kitchen, and the two fire pits. The one on the patio was perfect for those who wanted to chat around a fire at an easy distance, and the one on the back lawn was perfect for feeling like you were camping in the woods, but still had a bed to climb into at night. Even roasting sticks were provided. The teenagers got some gaming time in and the 4 and under crowd loved the toy room and running the ramp and hall back and forth. Everything was super easy, Carol was wonderful to work with and we absolutely loved our stay. It was the perfect place for us!

Accommodation for large group near beach!

I booked this property for a multi generational family retreat of sorts, though I personally was unable to attend due to health reasons. All communication I had with Carol was pleasant and responsive. When my family arrived, they informed me the cleanliness of the home was questionable and they were unsure if it had been cleaned prior to their arrival. I did not view the home personally but reviewed some photos. I will say that for such a large property near the beach at a reasonable price with a low cleaning fee, the basic cleanliness was fair for this sort of rental. Certainly not luxury by any means and could use some attention and deep clean. As I understand, the communication with Carol was a bit tense when cleanliness was brought up, with Carol suggesting our family could just check out if they were unhappy with the home. My family ended up staying for 4 nights and had a nice time connecting with each other and enjoying the beach. The property was large enough for our needs (5 families with ages ranging from 4-75). There were many rooms and Carol accommodated different bed configurations to meet our needs. As I was not there in person, I cannot recommend one way or the other, but I will extend a thank you to Carol for hosting a space where my family could make some memories.

This was our 4th year staying in Carol's beautiful property. The properu is beautiful and so well kept. Super clean and comfotable. The pripery is so well-stocked so it makes it easy for us to cook for everyone. We always come away feeling relaxed after visiting and adore the lovely guides she leaves for us, such as the forest trail and meditations. We highly recommended the property and out kind host.

Lovely is the best way to describe this location. Well designed to comfortably fit and feed a large party (we had 22 including adults and children and could have easily fit 4 more people. Well appointed, comfortable furnishings, authentic to the location... not new or fancy but well maintained and fully stocked. Good size kitchen, plenty of dishes and supplies. Place for children to run around and kick a ball, play basketball or badminton, or swing on the various hidden swings. The yurt was great for a sleepaway for the kids. Good access to various beaches up and down the coast. Great, generous hosts. I highly recommend this place. We had a lovely, week-long stay.

Sursum Corda "Christmas in July"

Plenty of space and lovely accommodations. We trekked through the woods on the hiking trail, walked the labyrinth to serenity, made all the sweet s'mores we could handle, and enjoyed the beautiful beaches. What a wonderful space to reconnect with God and each other. Blessings!
