ABOUT THE APARTMENT:

This apartment is inside the Castle look alike building located at Oceanfront boardwalk and across from the famous Belmont Park. There are retailers downstairs and many shops around, bars, restaurants and much more in the Bay area. Downtown San Diego is easy to reach from here (15 minutes by car) and so are most of San Diego's attractions such as Sea World (5 minutes), Legoland (30 minutes) and the San Diego Zoo (20 minutes).

This comfortable apartment offers everything you need right on the beach. We recently added a new refrigerator, extra single sofa-recliner and a portable AC inside the bedroom. You will enjoy the beach atmosphere in the heart of Mission Beach. This apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances and slab white granite counters. There are plasma TVs in the bedroom and in the living room. The living area faces the street but gives you a breathtaking ocean view. The bathroom has two sinks top and a bathtub. There are washer and dryer in the unit.
Sleeping arrangements include one comfortable queen bed ideally for 2 people, and a futon sofa in the living room (turns into a full sleeping bed - up to 2 people max weight combined of total 300 LBS.). This unit is ideal for a family of 4 (2 adults/2 small kids). No private parties with more than maximum occupancy are allowed in the unit.

We are located on the first floor, and there is a 20-25 stairway to get access to the units. No elevator or ramp access. We provide linens and towels, beach towels, beach toys, 2 chairs and umbrella - to be returned in good condition. Wireless Internet is provided with no extra cost to you - bring your laptop! There are security cameras outdoors and power generator in the building.

There is a screening door at the main entrance to allow more ocean breeze and air flow coming from the front door into the apartment.

Mission-Beach is a San Diego favorite among locals and visitors alike. It lies between Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean and has nearly two miles of beautiful white sandy beach. The area is filled with pastel colored houses, condos, old style cottages, beach apartments and hotels. The colorful Boardwalk at Mission Beach runs for three miles ending north of Pacific Beach and is always filled with bicyclists, runners, skateboarders and Rollerblade, and has designated lanes for walking. You can engage in people watching and sunbathing on Mission Beach, or the more strenuous activities of swimming, surfing, body boarding and kayaking. The southern part of Mission Beach is known for its' beach volleyball. To the east lies Mission Bay, which contains two islands with many coves and inlets, and has a large marina for pleasure boaters, and facilities for picnics, camping and fishing. One special point of interest at Mission Beach is Belmont Park, once the site of an amusement park that now is home to shops and restaurants, and a completely restored roller-coaster. This 73-foot wooden roller-coaster called the 'Big Dipper' was built in 1925, closed in 1976 and reopened in 1990. Everything is convenient for visitors to Mission Beach; just two blocks east are coffeehouses, fast food, taco shops, ethnic food or fine dining. Bicycles are available for rent on the Boardwalk right below this unit at The Hamels Castle!

Note: Mission Beach is also known as the place for families and young groups; if you are noise sensitive you probably should research more before making a commitment to stay in this area.

Totally amazing!

This place is perfect! It is in an awesome location, within walking distance to everything you need but yet so close to a lot of other attractions if you wish. The beach is just out the door and across the boardwalk and the sunsets were beautiful! The apartment is super clean and very nice. It has everything you need to make for a comfortable and pleasant stay. We loved it and will definitely be back!!

I can’t say enough. Very nice, modern condo that is located in the perfect location if you are interested in the “beach” lifestyle. Sand, surf, bikes, food, night life and even an amusement park!! Besides the condo, I loved the easy communication with the owner(s). I hope to get back soon!!!!

Mission Beach Stay!

We loved our stay at Mission Beach. We were right on the boardwalk and enjoyed people watching. You can see the sunset from the small balcony. The place had everything that we needed. We loved walking the boardwalk each day. Bike riding was very easy as well. There were lots of great restaurants and bars within walking distance. The value of this place is much better than other places along the boardwalk. Thank you for the stay!

Fantastic Location

If you like a comfortable stay and enjoy being in the middle of it all, this is the location for you. I stayed with my husband and dog for 6 nights and enjoyed the stay, especially: the nearby restaurants (Sandbar and Cannonball were fantastic), a relaxing swim at the Plunge, daily walks on the bay and beach, cruising the boardwalk on rented bikes and skateboards, sailing on the bay, and the ocean views and people watching from the balcony. The kitchen and bathroom are also very well appointed. Communication with the property owner was excellent, from the information provided in advance to the book of information in the rental.

Sweet Location

It was a absolute perfect little place. It was clean and well stocked with everything you need. It was great sitting on the patio every night people watching. It got really quiet after 8pm. There was a little bit of room at the gate to keep your bikes safe. Watched the owner every morning getting Hamels ready for business. I’m gonna stay here multiple more times! Thanks for a great 4 nights!

great location and great apartment

this a really nice 1 BR. Bathroom has dual sinks and a great tub for relaxing. Owners very responsive; we were there for 2 weeks and would have appreciated a mid-stay cleaning and one was offered late in the 2nd week to compensate for downtime on dryer. by that time didn't think worth it. loved being able to access beach within feet of front door and loved the use of the umbrella and beach chairs. only downside was distance to a good grocery store. will probably return next year.

Thank you for your positive review overall. For the records, we normally go by one paid cleaning per week( mandatory) and as many cleaning as our guests want to have (and pay for) for the duration of their stay. You didn't ask for a second cleaning, so I assumed you didn't want to be bothered which I respect it. Since I had to send a technician to fix the machine ,anyway, I offered you a 2nd cleaning on me, but you refused it. I am sorry I didn't realize you were expecting a mid-stay cleaning to be included on the rental price. It's actually paid to a 3rd person. There is a liquor/Deli/ Convenience store within 200 feet, but big grocery names are located about 1 mile away. Some renters like the excuse to ride a bike when grocery shopping. My returning renters get 10% on regular rates. I will keep my offer open for a 2nd cleaning when you come next time. Thanks again for your comments, and I hope to have you next year :)

End of Summer getaway

This was an extremely lengthy process to be able to rent this unit taking almost 2 weeks to complete and it would take days to get any kind of email answered. They wanted me to text a copy of my ID no other secure way to do it??? and when I asked why I was told for check in purposes, but no one was there on arrival to verify that it was me checking in. My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights Sept. 7-11 for an end of summer getaway. It's in a fantastic area with tons of stuff within walking distance to the apartment. It is a very nice cozy little apartment with a cute tiny balcony off of the living room. Upon arrival the apartment was extremely HOT, there was not one window open or one fan turned on and it was unusually warm in the area for September. We almost left for a hotel room for the night but decided to turn the portable "a/c" unit on and try and cool off the bedroom area, it did help but not too much the first night. After that, we left the bedroom door closed and the a/c unit on the entire time we were there and it was bearable. I do have to say there was an awful smell in the bedroom from the a/c unit but again, could not open the door or it would not stay cool in the room. The rest of apartment always stayed extremely hot even with the fans on and the one window open, but luckily for us we had plans and were not in the apartment for long periods of time, had we planned to stay in it would have been very uncomfortable. The bed in the bedroom room is pushed up against the wall so there is only one side of the bed to get in and out of, the footboard is solid wood and there is no table. It's not very comfortable or convenient if you are sleeping on the wall side and need to get out of bed while the other person is sleeping. Parking is about a block away in an alley and we always had homeless in our parking spot we had to deal with. If you plan to just stay in the area you really don't need to rent a car you can walk and bike everywhere. The bathroom was very nicely done and had double sinks which was great for sharing with my husband. I would also say this is the first property I have rented through this site that charged a supply fee and the "supplies" were very lacking both in quality and quantity, not even facial tissue anywhere in the unit. Overall it was a nice stay in a great location and I would give this place 3 1/2 stars if I could. Would I stay here again? Probably not not with all the other choices in the area.

Dear Stacy, I am sorry you had so many issues and I wish you had taken a minute of your time to bring at least some of them to my attention. I could have helped you with some of these problems with explanations and solutions, as I do with all renters who come to me. I went back to our conversation registered in this website, and all my responses to you were within a day or two, but I see your responses sometimes did take over 2 weeks to get back to me. That's probably what you are calling lengthy, right? Most of my renters choose to deal by email to be faster, but you chose to send your agreement by fax - which delays the process anyways. As per our request of identification, it's really to abide with our rental agreement and for insurance reasons. I do not rent this location for any person under the age of 25 and I need to have a proof of the age matching the responsible party and signature. It was never my intention to do a check in "in person" to be in compliance with the rental agreement and insurance request. If you wanted to see me and if I were available, I would have no problem stopping by to chat with you. I understand you arrived when San Diego had a heat wave with temperatures above 90 which is super-hot for all of us. We normally don't leave the AC and fans working because we don't know what time you would be arriving. It's normal that you find the temperature elevated but you can open the glass door and the front door leaving the screen to get the air circulating. The AC you could have turned it on and closed the room to keep the cold inside the room (after leaving the window open if you didn’t like the smell). Anyways, tips that I could have given you to resolve the initial problems within 30 minutes. I am sorry you were feeling uncomfortable with the bed location. I could have replaced the bedside tables for you to give you more room. Lastly, you complained about quality and quantity of supplies. Quality is a matter of personal preference since we shop at the local grocery stores, Costco and Smart and Final; however, quantity I will respectfully disagree with you because we leave inside the unit a reasonable amount for each guest, but we make the entire storage area available if needed - located in the hall (white doors). It's disclosed on the welcoming package! As I said, most of your complaints wouldn’t be here if you had taken a little bit of your time to bring to my attention. Overall, I wish you had a better communication with me.

If you love the action this is the spot. If you are looking for relaxation this is not it. It’s very loud but fun. There are many stairs. Parking is in alley where transients sleep. Overall I love this place.

Everything about this property is amazing!! The location is impossible to beat. Right out the gate is the boardwalks and the beach. Belmont park is across the street. Plenty of amazing restaurants and a convenience store within 500 feet. We didnt have and did not need a car. Claudia was amazing to work with!! The place was super clean, had everything we needed. We will be coming back for sure!! Thank you for a great stay!!!

We had a great time at this property! It was right on the beach and the balcony was fun to people watch! The parking was kind of hard to get in and out of when the middle space was occupied by two cars and a homeless person likes to sleep in those parking spaces but overall we had a great time and would rent again!

Location is literally steps from the beach. Nicely remodeled, clean with all the amenities you need. Lots to do around you. It is an active location but quiets down by evening. Would definitely recommend!

Great Place and location

Apartment was clean and location was fun. Located at a busy location the porch overlooking boardwalk and beach was ideal. It was nice having 3 bathrooms. Everyone loved the place and would definitely recommend. We also rented the 1 bedroom and made a cool place for the teenagers in our group. Claudia was very helpful.

My wife, 10 year old daughter, and I just got home after a 4 night stay. We really enjoyed it and would stay again. It’s a very busy area of Mission Beach, and it can be noisy, but we loved the liveliness of the area. It’s literally steps from the sand and it comes equipped with beach chairs, towels, and plenty of odds and ends to enjoy days at the beach. The bedroom is small, but the bed was comfy and the pull out sofa was great for a 10 year old. I think a family of 4 would feel a little cramped though. Incredibly easy check in and quick responses from the owner.

Quick trip to hit the beach

Very clean and literally steps from the beach. Small unit but it had all the amenities we needed. The parking spot made a huge difference. Loved this place.
