Dave and Joann we’re amazing! Their attention to detail made the place so special. Beautiful view and well taken care of. Highly recommend staying here!
Dave and JoAnn were excellent hosts, and were very responsive and helpful! The cabin is in a great location close to town, yet quiet and private. They even left some fancy treats for our doggy, which was such a sweet gesture. We’d definitely stay here again.

This is our fourth year staying on Dave’s property. He is a wonderful host. He keeps his places clean and well stocked. The view from the grape escape is amazing!! Can’t wait to go back!
The stay was just as expected, a small clean cabin that provided many small conveniences that made the "camping" experience easier. The view was gorgeous and we saw a ton of local wildlife including foxes, rabbits, deer, and others. I highly recommend the stay for a single adult or couple looking to unplug and unwind.
Dave was an excellent communicator and host. The cabin was stocked with everything we could have needed and the grounds were not just beautiful, but functional and really well maintained. We had colder, wetter weather than we hoped but the cabin stayed dry and toasty warm throughout the night. We felt so safe, comfortable and relaxed the entire time. We will be back!!
The stay was wonderful! An extremely beautiful view, clean and serene space, and everything was provided for. Dave and his family were wonderful, and helped provide everything we could need. Even getting us out of the mud on the first night. Close to some of the best wineries and eats in the area, and a short drive to some very visually stunning parks beyond the lake itself. Their dog, Willy was an extra, added friend to us, and made our trip even more special. - Pete
Beautiful view. Hard to overstate how gorgeous it is. Host provides a lot of helpful mod-cons that we didn't expect. Only major issue is ticks! If you bring a pet, do not let it stray from stone driveways and make sure it's up to date on preventive meds. Our (always leashed) dog must have brushed some high grass on walking trails on property and had more ticks on her than I have ever seen at once.
This cabin is the perfect way to get away while still being really close to everything. Its just a few miles outside of the village of Hammondsport and you can see the owners home so you know you are not completely remote but it feels very secluded. The site has many nice touches including chair cushions for the outdoor chairs that are stored inside, great porch rockers, plenty of firewood, a single burner stove to heat water for coffee which is included, and plenty of clean fresh water for drinking. There is an outdoor shower and while we were boiling water to make the shower warm enough, the host showed up with 6 gallons of hot water from his home. It was beyond amazing. This was such a fun place to stay. Highly recommend!
We had a lovely stay at the Grape Escape. While it is truly roughing it, all our needs were met and the host was easy to contact if we needed anything. Hammondsport was an awesome town, with nice options for food, drinks, and vibes. Great food everywhere we tried, but Portside Bistro was our favorite.
We had an amazing stay in Hammondsport. The cabin had everything you could think of and more! The view was amazing. The downtown and many wineries, breweries and distilleries were very close by which made for a great weekend escape!
Place was quiet and secluded. No critters! Just lots of birds and deer. It was definitely a "roughing it" experience but was very lovely and romantic! Dave was very accommodating. Lives on the property but was not intrusive at all. He was willing to help and give us everything we needed and more! Great place, great views, great experience and great people! Thanks to dave and his wife!
Sweet glamping cabin. Dave and Joann have it down. Comfortable bed. Adirondack chairs overlooking lake and hills. Walkable to Hammondsport. Delightful to drive the ridge pass vineyards. Our dog was beside herself chasing deer. The deer even put on a show of hopping and walking away. The stars came out for us. The sun set and sun rise glow filled the cabin.
Awesome place to stay. The cabin has everything you could possibly need plus some extras you wouldn't have thought about. There are a few pans/utensils for cooking. There is a butane powered portable stove top, a propane grill, and the fire pit for cooking (all fuels are provided). Power banks are provided so you can plug in your phones when needed. Dry firewood is provided with a smokeless fire pit. There is a composting toilet and a neat little shower building. Great view of Keuka Lake and super close to a ton of wineries. 25 minutes to Watkins Glen State Park. There are a few nice little cafes in Hammondsport which is 2 minutes away. Honestly this is a true finger lakes glamping experience. I will definitely try to book this place the next time we are in the area.
The Graoe Escape was exactly what we were looking for. It is camping without the tent! The view was wonderful, woke up and went to sleep with sounds of nature. Even in the rain it was a perfect getaway. Dave was quick to respond when we had a question and went above and beyond for our stay! Would recommend and stay again.
Perfect little cabin close to hiking, restaurants, and shops. Dave was super responsive and helpful. The view of the lake was beautiful and incredible to wake up to every morning.

About the host
Hosted by Dave Hopkins
My wife, JoAnn and I grew up in this area. We recently moved back and built a new home on this 8 acre property. Keuka Lake has many memories for our 4 grown children. They do not live near, but come back to vacation here every year. Our hope is that you will enjoy this beautiful land as much as they do.
Why they chose this property
Glamping Excellence! Private lake view cabin nestled in the woods located in wine country. The convenience of Hammondsport located 1/2 mile away is priceless. Grocery Store, Gas, Restaurants, Gift Shops, Music in the Park, Public Beach Access, Finger Lakes Hiking Trails, Museums, Cycling Country and Watkins Glen State Park nearby.
What makes this property unique
We nestled the cabin in the woods for complete privacy. It is NOT located on a heavily trafficked road. Bully Hill Winery is one mile up the road. They offer wine tasting and have a lovely restaurant overlooking the lake. Nature surrounds this little cabin with bird song and lake view. Dog Friendly Wineries: Visit fingerlakeswinecountry.com
