Peaceful Mountain Retreat in Eldora

Nestled in one of the most beautiful locations in the Colorado Rocky mountains, this retreat suits writers, academics, and nature lovers, making a great base for hiking, backpacking, and skiing and a wonderful destination after a busy day in Boulder.

In the summer months, wildflowers abound. Those who are lucky, may see moose, bear, bobcat, and fox from the windows. The Hessie trail starts 1 mile up a dirt road from the house. The house is in a central location for a variety of front range climbing areas including Boulder Canyon which is ~10 minutes drive away.

In the winter, Eldora Mountain Resort nordic and Alpine ski centers are 5 miles up the road. When there is snow pack, you can back country ski, snow shoe, or play in the snow right out the front door. Oct-Dec guests: Please expect radical, unpredictable weather including freezing blowing wind, snow, ice, sun, and 50 degree temperature swings, that you can enjoy from the comfort of a warm home.

There is NO TV or STEREO, making the house a great choice for guests who are happy with wifi access only (Century Link with example download speeds between 14 and 28 mbps) or who are seeking a tech vacation.

My husband and I live on the property and are likely to be staying in the house next door (~100 yards away) when you are here. We are seeking quiet, respectful guests to share our slice of heaven with. We are happy to help in any way upon request and can offer day trip recommendations to sport climbers, hikers, and skiers.

This is absolutely the best cabin

We loved our stay in Eldora. Heidi is a gracious host, the property is beautiful, the cabin is clean and lovely. The bedding and sheets are crisp cotton. Plenty of privacy, and help from the host if you need something (she printed our national park pass for us since we forgot the paper copy at home!). Kitchen and bath are so nice.

Beautiful place to stay

The house is beautiful, clean. spacious and close enough to town. The ski resort is only a few miles away. Everything about the house and our stay was perfect. We'll definitely go back.

Second time around

We were over the moon to be back at the house after few years. Area is beautiful, there is plenty to do and see in the summer, house is spacious and well equipped, owner- Heidi is easily accessible and very helpful. Our family had wonderful time staying there and we were lucky enough to witness female moose with a baby munching on the plants in the front yard through the house windows. Highly recommend staying here.

Nature lover's dream vacation

We really enjoyed our stay at Heidi's property! The home has a uncluttered Scandinavian feel with lots of windows looking out to the surrounding mountains and nature. Heidi is an excellent host and made our stay relaxing and fun. The updated kitchen has high quality appliances and everything we needed. We will definitely return!

Great Escape

What a trip and just as described!! Close enough for civilization but far enough where you can unplug and enjoy nature nd what CO has to offer. The accommodations were fantastic and my 5 year old and 8 year old kids had a blast hiking the many trails right outside the house. We will be back and thank you so much for sharing your home.

Great spot, great house, great host.

We stayed here for a week in March. The house is clean and has a great shower. Heidi goes out of her way to provide whatever the guests need, even snowshoes. It's just a few minutes from downtown Nederland and the ski area and trails. Access is easy. Scenery is beautiful. Would return in an instant.

Another Comfortable Mountain Stay

We love staying at Heidi’s place in Eldora. Quiet. Scenic. Peaceful. We always feel at home. Minutes from any necessity we may have forgotten- Nederland is a quick trip. Literally minutes from our favorite hikes/views. We will be back again… and again!

The Best Weekend Ski get-a-way ever

Well appointed cabin situated at the end of the road..no seriously miss the turn and the road becomes a mountain. What a great spot to just relax and enjoy this beautiful planet. It was just me and my daughter for a ski weekend. After contacting Heidi she told me the cabin had everything we needed and she was right!! Stopped in Boulder before we made our way up the canyon for food and libations then just back and forth on a short drive to ski at Eldora Mountian. As a parting gift I think Heidi arranged for a moose to eat his breakfast just outside the door on Monday, so cool. We will definately make the trip back to Colorado just to stay there again. We have skied all the big tourist mountains, like Brekenridge, Vail, Aspen, Snowmass, Steamboat etc...and Eldora is now our favorite. Thanks Heidi for being such a great host

Mountain Perfection

Nestled at the base of mountains… this is truly mountain comfort. Clean, well appointed- Heidi has thought of everything. We couldn’t think of one thing to make our stay better! We love Nederland + Eldora and knowing there is a “home away from home” here is amazing.

Perfect Place to Unplug

What a fantastic location, perfectly situated just outside of Ned, enjoy all of what the a Mountain town has to offer and then retreat back to your own private sanctuary. Beautiful views, couldnt ask for more.

Beautiful upscale hideaway

One of our favorite rentals ever! The scenery was right there inside this lovely house due to the enormous windows and the way the house was nestled in the setting. Everything was designed for beauty and comfort. The owner was responsive and generous - she offered to take us hiking. Loved this place!

Upscale cabin in a beautiful place

I rarely take time to write a review but this is one occasion when I must. This place totally exceeds expectations. The house is not large but very smartly designed. Inside, it is spacious and comfortable. Panoramic windows to beautiful rockπne&mountain landscapes. Appliances and bathrooms are modern and upscale. The place is squeaky clean. Trailhead is just around the the corner and mountains are gorgeous. Heidi - the owner - is super nice and helpful. She helped us out several times - thank you Heidi so much! We are coming back some day.

Ideal property, perfect host

Our enjoyment of this property / stay increases with each visit! Heidi is our favorite host by far. Easy to communicate with, accommodating, but not at all intrusive. Eldora Mountain Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at Heidi's cabin. It was very roomy, modern, comfortable and very clean. It is located in a beautiful setting in the mountains. The cabin had very large windows so we really felt we were outdoors. The kitchen and the bathroom were both updated and very modern looking. We would definitely return and also recommend Heidi's cabin.

Perfect Location & House

This was one stop along our two week Colorado road trip and by far our favorite. Our family loved staying at this home. The views were amazing and it's centrally located near many hiking opportunities. It is also a short scenic drive from Boulder where we spent some evenings when the afternoon mountain thunderstorms rolled in. The house itself was clean, and comfortable and the host was great.

Cabin in the mountains

Great location. Amazing views and wildlife in the yard. If you are looking for some place to relax, while having access to hiking, skiing and Colorado adventure, this is the place. The 4th iyf July trailhead to Diamond Lake was amazing!! The host was also great, we forgot 2 bags and she shipped them back to is. I can't say enough good things about this property!!! You won't be disappointed

Lovely Mountain Stay

We loved our 3-night stay at this place in Eldora. It is clean, comfortable, well-stocked (in terms of kitchen needs) and nicely laid out for relaxation and enjoyment. It is in a great location for the Eldora downhill and Nordic skiing and a short drive to Nederland. Boulder, about 40 minutes away is also a nice advantage with a beautiful drive down the canyon. Each window (of which there are many) faces a mountain view which makes for a peaceful stay. We were lucky enough to experience 4 seasons in 3 nights! Heidi is easy to communicate with. A very nice vacation.

We wanted a super relaxed mountain weekend. This place was perfect. The house is small, modern and extremely well thought out. Windows galore to look out in the beautiful mountains. No TV was perfect. My partner is an interior designer and she just gushed about the design and function of the built-ins, space utilization and layout. You want to relax and take in some beautiful scenery? This place is perfect.

Chris and I were both born in the bay area, California. We fell in love with Eldora, when we rented a house here in 1989 while Chris was studying physics at CU Boulder. In 1993, we bought the house we had been renting and have been grateful since then to be able to spend most of our time in such a special valley. I am a co-founder of a software startup, and have had the good fortune to be able to work remotely for the past 17 years, spending many seasons in Eldora. We both love to travel to various rock-climbing areas across the US for several months every year. I also love to travel abroad and have most enjoyed visiting and hiking in mountainous countries such as Nepal, and Switzerland.

We think Eldora is one of the most beautiful places on this planet. We love it's close access to Boulder and the rest of the front range.

What makes this property unique

With lots of windows, the house is infused with joyful sunlight, every season, and the views of hillsides, granite, aspen and evergreens are beautiful. The house is clear of clutter and distractions, and the often deep silence, and clear starry nights set the stage for tranquility. It's relatively modern construction means it is warm and protected from the elements. Being on the west end of Eldora, trails are close and can be accessed without a car.
