Beautiful location updates are needed

The location is beautiful and private and the staff is very nice. During the start of the our stay we were put in the GEM. DO NOT LET THEM PUT YOU IN THE GEM. It is dingy. The toilets would not flush so feces will smell up the apartment. The water was not hot, they had a wood burning water heater but onlt out wood on it twice a day for all of the cottages. The stove was not working. Also the fridge is the size of a dorm fridge. The lamshades were nasty and filled with stains and the misquote nets had band aids on them. There is no screens on the doors so cats. monkeys and chichkens will come into your house. This isn't so bad but screen doord need to be put on. Also the back door didn't lock. After this was brought to VRBOs attention they worked with the owner and he agreed to move us to a different cottage. This one was nicer and cleaner, however hot water was still an issue. I do appreciate his appropriate response to our concerns and his willingness to move us so we didn't have to seek other accommodations.

This review left me saddened, what a pity she didn’t stop after the first sentence. However with 10 years hosting experience, 4,9 rating on Airbnb and 8,9 on booking.com I do understand that sometimes there's a guest who will never be happy. Judging by this and previous reviews on HomeAway this is one of them.

We care about the local community, supporting them in various projects as well as doing out part to preserve this amazing corner of the World.

Why they chose this property

Watamu (the "place of the nice people" in Kiswahili) is a well functioning community on the warm Indian Ocean.

Our property is quiet and peaceful and away from busy parts of the beach.

We have an incredible sand bank that makes for great kitesurfing the whole day.

What makes this property unique

A few steps to the beach and within easy reach of bars, restaurants and shops.
