About this property

Carnelian Bay Lakefront estate

Tewesi Manor was completed in 2012 although feels like you went back in history to the early 1900s. The Gingerbread cottage (Guesthouse) was built in the 1920s and you do go back in history. Tewesi Manor is on 3/4 of an acre, Impeccably landscaped with a cobblestone driveway meandering to the entrance of the Manor. Tewesi boasts of 200 feet of private Lake frontage a private pier, buoys and your own swim platform. A hot tub is situated near the lake to relax and watch the sunrise and alpenglow, or just enjoy the warmth after a dip in the lake. The Manor’s master suite was described by an owner of some of the top five star hotels in the world as the best suite he has ever stayed in.

Tewesi Manor is an Old Tahoe style manor come to life in a modern context. The word, ‘Tewesi’ comes from the Washoe Tribe and means ‘people from far away’. Tewesi Manor feels like it has been here since the turn of the last century. Every detail has been thought out to convey that Old Tahoe manor feel.

What was originally the main house on the property, the 1920’s Gingerbread Cottage (5 bedrooms, 2 baths) was moved from its lakefront location and placed where it sits now and serves as the charming Guest Cottage. There is plenty of grass lakeside to enjoy while entertaining and playing games. A hot tub is nestled lakeside half hidden in the foliage as well as a tee pee for adults and children alike to stage imaginative play.

In one word: Extraordinary!
Wonderful attention to detail in the interior vignettes and decoration, the landscaping, the cleanliness, the fantastic architecture…and of course the outstanding view. Thank you for allowing our family and family friends to enjoy your beautiful house. And a thank you to the management company, especially Tracy and Debbie, for being so helpful and quick to respond to my questions.

Heavenly stay
Staying at Tewesi was a very special treat. Not only does the property have character, is gorgeous and clean, it is also very well appointed. Everything is there to enjoy your stay in this beautiful setting. Communication with Ron and his manager is flawless. We are so grateful for the opportunity to have stayed there and hope to be back again.

Why they chose this property

Tewesi Manor in 2012 and won an architectural award in the prestigious Tahoe quarterly. The original property in the 1920s house had a rich history in the Lake Tahoe basin. The owners kept the original house, now name to the gingerbread cottage. The cottage was originally at the lakefront and it's made out of rock. They painstakingly moved the cottage to save the integrity of this 1920s historical house.

What makes this property unique

We were very fortunate to purchase such a unique piece of property, one-of-a-kind. It was originally called Tewesi which is the name the indigenous Washoe Indians called the settlers in their area. Tewesi in their language means people from far away. There are several artifacts in the area that include rocks that the Washoe Indians used to grind their grain and are still on some of the neighbors properties. The views from the Manor are breathtaking. This is a very private property, although there are many people during the summer that take advantage of the lake.
