About this property
Beautiful villa with 6 bedrooms. Pool, Games Room, Basketball, Playground & more
Situated as last house in a tiny village, El Casa Grande is a typical house of the kind that made us fall in love with Catalonia and the way of making holiday. It is a house for 14+2 persons with a beautiful garden and pool area.
With the blooming fields and the Pyrenees in the distance as only neighbor, you feel so relaxed, and still, only 750 meters away, in the other end of the tiny village, you find a lively country style Catalan restaurant, where farmers, workers and bypassing people enjoy an inexpensive lunch menu with a selection of typical Catalan dishes, which leave nobody hungry.
The other benefit of being connected to the village is the multi court for football, basketball and handball, where the active part of the group can spend endless hours, before taking a dip in the swimming pool to refresh.
For the more relaxed part of the group, the beautiful pool area with beautiful surroundings is the place to be, and if it gets too hot, the cool chill-out area in the shade of the courtyard is the perfect place to hang out with a book or a drink.
The history of the house and owners:
It is a house with a long history, historically being in a privileged location in the intersection of three paths of transhumance and what was the old road in the county. The building is very old and the first dating that has a thirteenth century. In the beginning was used as a hostel for merchants passing. From the fourteenth century until 1728, it was used for its board of jurors in the Lluçanés-province.
You will be welcomed by Maria and her husband, who are the kindest retired couple, who will do all they can to make you feel at home and also assist, if you need help or advice for excursions or activities.
The facilities of the house:
Today the house has been completely restored retaining its original structure. Built on a sliding rock, the entrance from the parking will actually bring you directly into first floor. Here, there is a kitchen with all commodities (stove, microwave, dishwasher, kitchen utensils etc.), a very big living/dining room with an enormous wooden dining table and also serving as distributing room for all the bedrooms. The house has in total 6 bedrooms, 2 of them being triple rooms. Each of the bedrooms has their own bathroom. Additionally, there is a toilet downstairs, useful when staying outside. The house has also TV, DVD and WIFI-internet.
The outdoor Facilities:
Connected by a stairway, the ground floor, in level with the closed court yard and the garden, has also a game room with table tennis. Outside, you enter directly the very big closed courtyard, with plenty of room for the children to play or play ball. Also, there is a covered porch with barbecue and outdoor seating for every one and a sitting area in cool chill-out style.
The impressive gate, big enough in old times for the horse carriages to enter, provides access to the beautiful garden- and pool area. In one end, the lawn with some trees proving shade. Also, there is a sandbox and swings for the youngest, and some tables, for light meals. In the other end, the swimming pool with roman steps, this is actually very nice, when you have small children in your group. With a cold drink and a book and with the beautiful view over the hilly landscape with fields and forest, the tranquillity and sounds make the last remains of the stressful daily life disappear.
Activities and excursions:
As mentioned, in walking distance from the house, there is a local restaurant, with a nice and inexpensive lunch menu. In the next village, 5 km. away, you find a very good bakery, and in the nearest town Olost 6 km. away, there is a very nice Cathedral, some shops and even a Michelin-star restaurant.
The house is well-connected with the C-62 highway taking you to the beautiful regional capitol Vic with two weekly market days (Tuesdays and Saturdays) in 25 minutes and for half- or full day excursions, you can easily visit Barcelona (80 minutes) or perhaps a visit to the Costa Brava beaches and then dinner in beautiful Girona before heading home, one of our personal favorite excursions!
