About this property
Peaceful getaway from busy urban life
Our farmhouse, built in 1854, is a peaceful getaway from busy urban life. You will be surrounded by cornfields, trees and barns, and you will hear the songbirds and the crickets, and you will see the sunrise and feel the breeze. There is plenty of room indoors within the 2700 square foot house and outdoors on the 5-acre lawn. We're 30 minutes from Champaign, 45 minutes from Bloomington and 60 minutes from the Amish community of Arthur. It's a great place for Fighting Illini fans!
Downstairs, there is one furnished bedroom with one double bed, one bathroom, a full kitchen, living room, game room and workspace. Upstairs there are two furnished bedrooms with queen beds and there is one bathroom. There is a wrap-around porch with furniture and a large yard with a cornhole game. The property is surrounded by farmland and we are near the small country town of Foosland. We have very reliable sky link internet.
It is a creaky, cranky old farmhouse, once owned by Julie's grandparents. It was run down when we bought it in 2014, and Julie has spent countless hours repairing and beautifying the house. You might occasionally hear a mouse running through the attic. The water pressure can be low, especially if more than one person is showering at the same time, and it can take some time for the warm water to arrive. And the upstairs can be warmer than the downstairs in the summer. We're constantly improving it, but it is what it is.
Coffee and tea are available in the kitchen.
There are two options for parking. You may use the driveway that is just west of the house. We recommend that you park in front of the east garage door. You may also use the driveway just east of the barn and park your car on the north side of the garage. If you park here, you will need to walk on the grass to the house. Please do not park on the grass.
You will find porch furniture tucked away on the east side of the porch. Please use it then return it to the place you found it. Not available in the winter.

Please adjust the thermostat in the living room to a comfortable setting. We ask that you return the thermostat to 55 degrees at the end of your winter stay or to 80 degrees at the end of your summer stay.
